21  Other / Off-topic / Beware of MTgox Yubikey on: January 31, 2012, 02:52:57 AM
I purchased a yubikey and it stopped working 2 weeks after I got it. Now I can't access my account. The only way they will unlock my account is to mail it back. It's 90 bucks to mail it back to japan, and if it should get lost in the mail or misplaced on there end I will never get access to my accounts again. Not to mention bitcoin has dropped 20% in value since I've been locked account of my account. Total loss is in the hundreds already. Not exactly a security feature.
22  Other / Beginners & Help / 5870 heatsink on: January 30, 2012, 09:22:48 AM
Is there a reference fan style heatsink that fits the v2 5870. I just got one with the dual fans and it runs around 90c.

23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / can't adjust fan speeds, 1 bitcoin reward on: January 28, 2012, 01:30:46 AM
I have several systems with 5970's and I have not had a problem until now. two of the cards I just got off ebay from seperate sellers (5970 black editions) will not allow me to change their fan speeds. I have tested them in other systems and I get the same thing. I normally use msi afterburner, but I have tried sapphire trixx, cgminer, and ccc. The fans speeds don't even seem to show up correctly. If it ever displays a fan speed for them it will just say 20% which is not right. Mining is out of the question until I get this fixed, the auto fan speeds are terrible. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to have to splice the fan cables and run them off a manual fan controller. I normally just run them with the catalyst drivers 11.11 , on windows.
24  Other / Beginners & Help / 5970 Fan speed on: January 27, 2012, 02:28:59 AM
I have never had a problem in the past, but on my new build I can't get the fan speeds working. I'm using 2x 5970s and a 5870. One of the 5970's I can't get the fan speed to change on. I've tried cg miner and msi afterburner. Its shows the tach meter but the option to change the fan speed is not there. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers a few times. I'm not using ccc just the drivers since I'm over 4 gpus. Anyone have experience with a problem like this?
25  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Overclocking 5970's on: January 21, 2012, 12:02:22 PM
I have a pc with 3x 5970's and I can't change the voltage or clock speed on one of the cores. I'm just using the cc drivers. I have tried msi afterburner, trixx and cg miner. I have also tried swapping the card with another one. Any ideas?
26  Other / Beginners & Help / voltage stuck on 5970 on: January 21, 2012, 06:27:59 AM
I have 3x 5970's in one pc, and I can't get the voltage to go up on one core. I have tried swapping out the card with another one and I get similar problems. If I run everything on cg miner I get both cores on the card coming up as dead or sick. I'm assuming its because it tries to raise the mhz over the limit while the voltage is stuck. I only have the video drivers installed and have tried raising the voltage in afterburner but the option is not even there for that gpu. I have two other pc's with 3x 5970's and I don't have this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.
27  Other / Beginners & Help / 5970 power efficiency on: January 04, 2012, 08:23:03 AM
I only had a chance to test 2 of my systems but I would be interested to see what results you guys are getting. I would also be interested in knowing what psu units you guys have tried with 3x 5970's

Both systems have quad core with only 1 core running at 100%

1300watt rosewell lightning, gold certified
2x 5970's
880 core clock
1555 hash
vddc 1.112 = 795-800 watts
vddc 1.125 = 810 watts
both volt settings seem to work well on this pc
------------
1500watt silverstone, silver certified
3x 5970's
860 core clock
vddc 1.112 = 1170 watts
2250 hash

------
I have not tested recently but I'm pretty sure my other pc had these specs.
1500watt silverstone, certified silver
1x 6990
2x 6970's
core volt +7%
950 core clock
1620 hash
950 watts, its also water cooled with 6x radiator fans.

28  Other / Beginners & Help / Fastest 6900 series mining software on: January 03, 2012, 02:10:46 PM
I use cgminer on my other computers but it just refuses to run correctly with my 6970's. Does cgminer have a equal or a runner up atleast?
29  Other / Beginners & Help / cgminer running slow on: January 02, 2012, 08:19:22 AM
I just stared using cgminer. Thought I had it working but in one of my computers two of the gpu's are running slow. It has 2x 6970's and a 6990. Two of the miners are getting 415hash, and two get 320 hash. If I disable the two slow miners and run them with guiminer they run at the correct speed. So the clock's speeds seem to be correct on the cards. I am using 11.11 catalyst. I have no ideas on this one. Here is my config if that helps.

30  Other / Beginners & Help / 3x 5970's in one pc on: December 31, 2011, 02:56:29 PM
It took me a while but I finally got all 6 gpu's to show up in guiminer. But I can only get around 1,620 mhash even at 920 mhz. I was getting 1,400 with 2 cards at 880 mhz. I'm really stumped on this. The gpu's show up in msi afterburner running around 98% except for 1 that is about 90%. The hottest gpu is only running around 75c which is way to low. Especially since the mobo has 2 of them sandwiched together. So they don't seem to be doing the work. I originally installed the 11.12 drivers then uninstalled and tried the 11.11 drivers but nothing seemed to change. The psu is 1500 watts so it should be receiving enough power, also I'm not using risers. I'm pretty sure the board is a 8x 8x 4x config. Hopefully someone has some insight on this otherwise the 3rd card is not justified. It should be well over 2 ghash. I will give 5 bitcoins to the first person who solves this problem for me.
