I have been intermittently running Armory for the better part of a decade. I have certainly spent my share of time in here bothering the volunteers with the same old questions, and occasionally a rare one.
I think I am the worst sort of Armory user. The actual clueless noobs throw up their hands and move on. The actual skilled self-diagnose and only bring genuine issues. I, on the other hand, am just knowledgeable enough to persist, to run custom pathing configs, to tinker with linux, in short to get myself in over my head and need help.
I have always tried to keep a node synced and online just in case, but, let's face it, Armory can be temperamental, and honestly there have been months at a time when my configuration was broken for one reason or another.
Recently the decision was taken to touch the old keys, for me a very frightening prospect. I decided to go with Windows and with default pathing to keep everything simple, and I can report that the installation, sync, recovery of old paper backups, the offline signing process, and transfer of funds all went flawlessly (well, there was one hung restart on the online box, but I was able to draw on my vast knowledge and intensive Armory training /s to manually kill the db process which allowed a good restart.)
I was undecided whether to post this at all; the signal to noise ratio in here can be trying, but it occurs to me that all you guys hear are the problems, the frustration and at times even the abuse. I thought it important to counter some of that with a tale of success. This software, and the support I have had in here over the years, saw my coins safe from the darkest days of the fall of MtGox to the current halving market cycle, and some of them on into the future.
I wish to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has worked to keep this project moving forward. Goatpig, you are my kind of deranged hippie man. HCP, Carlton, Holliday...many others have my gratitude and respect for their patient help over the years.
For others reading this, MAKE THE GODDAMN PAPER BACKUP folks; it works.

brand new trezor 1, going through the process, start to copy down the paper seed backup, it shows me the first word, write it down click the next/right button on the trezor, it shows me the second word, write it down click the button...nothing, click click click, hold button down...nothing, cant move to 3rd word
does not exactly instill confidence

Can some one walk me through the procedure to verify the sha256sum of an installer in windows?
I looked back 4 pages here and worked through several search engine hits but did not find what I need.
Trying to get an offline signer set up.
thanks

I am really sorry to bother you guys. It seems like something breaks every couple years and I have to teach myself all the tricks over again. I lose my chops in the intervening months.
I had a drive get full and my node went offline for 13 weeks. I closed and rebooted and fired up bitcoin-qt and let it sync, then closed that normally and rebooted again and started up armory.
Things seemed to go well at first but now it is "Parsing Tx Hashes" for 12 hours which doesn't seem right. There is a python task taking up 12% of my CPU that I think isn't usually there, so maybe that is it working away so I am reluctant to lose patience. I figured I would ask what you folks think.
It is on an MX linux build, which is a debian with xfce.

So what is this I hear about horror stories of people making a test transaction out of a large old wallet only to fat finger the unspent change into an incompatible, unspendable address type??
Is this anti-segwit FUD or is it a real thing?
Is this something I need to be aware of and guard against as an Armory user?

well guys, BOTH my installs have broken down at the same time, in different ways, and I'm at a bit of a loss Let's start with the one on my main box so as to not muddy the waters. This one was working fine till about 2 days ago. Win7/64, Armory0.96.3, was syncing to an ABC node to extract BCH, its wallets are empty of BTC and BCH, I was content to leave it running on ABC for now and wait for the BTG signer to come along. It has taken to hanging on the very first splash, full green bar at the top "Loading:100%" blue windows swirly if you mouse over it. If you click on it "ArmoryQT.exe is not responding" It does not seem to ever spawn the DB, checking in task manager. clean log https://pastebin.com/dzW6Y2Qrthanks

I've been out of the mining game for a while, but it is cooling off here in the Northern hemisphere and I have been looking over at the old BFL single gathering dust on a shelf (purchase of this bit of kit was one of the worst decisions of my life, but that's another story). I was wondering if anyone has tried mining bitcoin cash with one of these. I know, as a first gen ASIC, it won't probably be profitable, but I have to pay for heat anyway...why not make the heater work? It's been a while so I'm a bit rusty, I'm thinking I have to get BFGMiner working again, and reinstall the BFL GUI, whatever it was called, and find a suitable pool to point it at, and noodle with the string syntax till it works. On the pool subject, does anyone know of a BCH pool that lets you run up a balance and not payout constantly to a local wallet? I want to let the dust settle a while longer before I trust a BCH wallet. Any reminders or ideas about getting this setup running would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

hey guys, I am probably an idiot, but I have been beating my head against this for 2 days.
my C: SSD is too small to hold the blockchain, I have been trying to follow the troubleshooting instructions...tried em dashes, en dashes, spaces for the underscores, whatever I do Armory just fills up the C: appdata folder and hangs when the drive is full.
OK, so I am an idiot.
can somebody please post the actual correct syntax that makes this work ??
yeah, the other system that used to work...bitcoind crashes when armory calls it, despite repeated complete deletions and redownloads...at my wits end
yes, my clocks are synced, thanks
please help

new OS on a new box here, been...oh I don't know...year and a half since I have to set bitcoin QT up from scratch
sweet baby zombie jesus, hours and hours, I got hours to go, still 15 weeks back and the weeks are obviously getting bigger all the time
obviously this has to be a tired topic so forgive me, what are the strategies that have been proposed to deal with this? Couple years ago it was inconvenient, now it is ridiculous, couple years from now it will be untenable.
mass adoption indeed, lol

On the one hand a tumultuous rush for the exit seems inevitable, on the other alternative exchanges are gaining market share as fast as their servers can process new accounts and seem to have stabilized at a consensus valuation around $90/BTC.
I am starting to doubt that the great buying opportunity will even present itself.

"We had a kernel panic within the MD layer of the linux kernel. Service will be restored within the next 7 days. In the meantime, you could assume the price to be either $0.01 or $100 so we can see some interesting rallies and have fun until you can look at boring numbers again " ??
