1  Other / Off-topic / Just mined my first block on the Bitcoin testnet on: June 09, 2017, 12:01:11 AM
Pretty much the only place you can solo-mine with only 10 GH/s of power and still find a block  Grin. Anybody else mining Testcoins?

2  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Can you mine at home anymore? on: June 02, 2017, 11:10:31 PM
The age old question. The Antminer R4 is a step in the right direction with the quieter fans but it costs an arm and a leg. Are there any other miners that could be used to mine at home and give you an ROI that cost less than an R4?
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Zadig equivalent for OS X? on: March 21, 2016, 06:28:44 PM
I am running OS X 10.11.3 on a computer I want to mine with, but one of the devices won't initialize in cgminer (failed to initialize, incorrect device?). I downloaded the proper drivers and restarted my computer but there is no change. I was told the only solution was to run Zadig, because I needed to re-associate the usb driver the device uses. Since there is no Zadig build for OSX, what program could I use instead?

Thanks
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Is the Anker USB 3.0 7-Port Hub a suitable port for USB mining? on: February 10, 2016, 03:14:10 AM
Title says everything. The PSU included with the hub is rated at 12v 5A. I know the 10-port version of this product works but I don't think I will need that many ports.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Questions about running a node on: January 19, 2016, 02:45:05 AM
I want to run a node because I believe in Bitcoin. I think it could truly change the world and this is how I want to show my support. I read about running a full-node and it said that the node would have to download the entire blockchain and then would begin communicating with the network. What I am concerned about is that on bitcoin.org, it said a node could use upwards of 200gb of upload a month. The issue I have is that my connection only supports 200 GB a month and this is both download and upload combined. Is there a way of reducing the bandwidth this node uses so that I won't see my internet bills go through the roof? Furthermore, is it possible to run a client that wouldn't use this much bandwidth?

Thanks
6  Economy / Marketplace / What happened to ASICMiner? on: January 17, 2016, 05:15:47 AM
Hello everyone, I havn't been following Bitcoin for a while and I recently was reminded of ASICMiner, and since I hadn't heard anything about them for a while I did some searching. I discovered this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996135.20) thread discussing how AMHash had gone sour. It outlined that the company (as well as RockMiner) were low on funding, how they needed to pay back shareholders for failing to provide their services and, most frighteningly, how FriedCat had gone missing and hadn't been seen for over a month. I havn't really heard any more news about any of this after I read that thread and I'll admit, I am very late to the party. Does anybody know what is going on with ASICMiner right now? If somebody could give me a general explanation as to what has happened since that thread, whether the company will ever release a BE300S based miner, what the future of the company is and any news on FriedCat's location, I would be very appreciative.

This was my favorite ASIC company and I really hope this isn't the end.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Looking to buy a miner from TechnoBit.eu on: January 12, 2016, 09:21:12 PM
This is a question to people who have had experience with buying things from technobit.eu. I want to make sure that the people I'm buying from will actually be able to deliver my miner in a timely fashion (I do live in North America, and I know they are based in Europe so shipping will probably take a while) and that miner I buy will actually come in working condition. So my question is, in your experience  is it a trustworthy website? I have seen lots of announcement threads for their miners on this forum, but I havn't seen many threads discussing as to whether the company is reputable or not. I'd like to be confident that the company is reputable before I buy anything from them.

P.S: I'm not sure if this is being posted in the right board or not. If there is another part of the website where this could be better answered please let me know.

Thanks
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Issues mining Scrypt with Nvidia GTX 750 Ti on: April 06, 2015, 03:51:50 PM
I am having issues mining Scrypt (and basically anything that isn't X11) with my Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. Whenever I attempt to launch cudaminer (the version I have was downloaded from the thread on this forum related to its release), it will mine for about 2 seconds and then my video driver will crash. Does anyone know of a driver that would work well with cudaminer? I am using 64-bit Windows 7

EDIT: It turns out my video driver was corrupted. The issue was fixed with a simple reinstall
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Does anyone have any recommendations on mining hardware and a pool? on: March 25, 2015, 05:45:59 PM
Hello! This is my first post and I am new to Bitcoin, so be a little patient and make sure to tell me if I got something wrong.

I am interested in mining Bitcoin as a hobbyist right now, and I was wondering if anybody could give me a recommendation on some mining hardware (preferably an ASIC) to start off with. Also (since I have read that solo mining isn't profitable anymore unless you have a large datacenter) does anyone know of a good pool that I could join?

As far as mining hardware goes, I am not looking for anything big and powerful just yet, and profitability isn't too much of a concern right now, I am just looking to contribute to the network.

Thanks for your time.
