1  Economy / Auctions / Block Erupter Prisma2.0 Auction: Round One on: January 23, 2015, 07:55:56 AM
Block Erupter Prisma2.0 (Prisma) is a major revise over the original Block Erupter Prisma (old Prisma). The 500-Prismas-scale stress testing showed that the devices are running stable without unstability/overheat from which some of the old Prismas suffer. Protection against violent shipping is also added.

Spec and Manual
The specification is similar to the old Prisma, but there are some form factor changes:

size: 36.7cm x 16.4cm x 16.4cm
weight: 7.5kg
hashrate: 1.35TH/s to 1.48TH/s (depending on PSU output voltage and clocking)
power: 1.05kW to 1.25kW (depending on PSU output voltage and clocking)
clock: 230MHz to 260MHz (ranging from 11.5V to 12.5V of different PSU output voltage with full load)

Auction Rules
starting unit price: 0.3BTC
minimum unit price bidding increase: 0.01BTC
minimum quantity: 20
total quantity: 200
ending time:

To bid, please reply with the format:

(qty)@(unit price)

For example, if A bids 200@0.2, and B bids 50@0.3, then after the auction ends, A needs to pay 0.2 each for 200-50=150 Prismas, and B needs to pay 0.3 each for 50 Prismas.

After the bidding ends, the winners will be listed. Each winner will be PM'ed with a Bitcoin payment address by forum id Phasebird. If some of the winners do not fulfill the payment request within 24 hours after the PM, the winner list will be renewed by deleting the winners who do not pay and shifting the rest bidders upwards. Then the new winners will also be PM'ed with Bitcoin payment addresses and required to pay within 24 hours after the PM. This process continues until all the Prismas are paid, or the winner list is exhausted.

Shipping, Extra Details and Customer Service
Shipping will be done within 48 hours after payment. Shipping fee is already covered in the price.
Shipping to US is via UPS or DHL by default.
Shipping to EU and other places is via DHL by default.
Please reply the payment request PM with what price you want us to declare, and what shipping
company you would like to choose if you do not like the default choices.

For every 20 Prismas, 5 ethernet controllers and 1 redundant Prisma will be provided. If you need more controllers, please pay 0.069BTC more for each. If you need less controllers, please pay 0.069BTC less for each.

If the number of defected boards is higher than the number of boards on the redundant Prismas, please contact Phasebird by PM or help@bitquan.com by e-mail for shipping back details. We cover free replacement within 180 days after receiving based on records from the shipping company.

Happy bidding!
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Block Erupter Prisma Compensation and Buy-back Plan on: December 11, 2014, 04:35:06 AM
Till now we received enough returned Prismas to get a statistical conclusion.
We decide that the old Prisma design has some flaws in both firmware and hardware.
Therefore manually fixing them and shipping them back take too long and are
not good for both our customers and us.

So the customers can choose one in the two offerings below:

1. We buy back the Prismas at the original price the customers pay.
The customers only need to ship the controller and the hashing boards back.
The fans and heatsinks are not needed. Customers who already shipped them back
can also switch to this option.

2. We use revised version of Prismas based on our new power management chips
to replace old ones, instead of returning old designs or replacing. This version is very
stable and has no problem of hashrate loss/overheat/can't identify boards/etc.
The compensation method for mining time loss is the same as before.

We cover shipping fee of both, if you can provide the shipping label.

We are very sorry for all the problems brought with the old version Prisma. The revised Prisma with our
own power management chips is much more stable. So if you are still able to put some trust on it and
accept the waiting of compensation (it accumulates with each delayed date anyway), you can choose
the second.

Please email us to sale@bitquan.com with the following information and format:

* Personal info,shipping address,tel number
* Date of buying our Prisma
* Your previous individual/exclusive btc payment address
* Number of broken Prsima boards (have to be fit well with the number you shipped back)
* Date you received your miners, date of shipping back
* The picture of the shipping label with the shipping price on it
* Your btc receivable address. it will be best to be the one you paid to us before. If the btc
receiving address is different, please sign the message with your address used for payment if you could.

For customers who already shipped back, please mail to us again (sale@bitquan.com) about the choice
you want to take.

Phasebird will reply afterwards with the new shipping address within US and EU. It
allows quicker turn-around time.
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: December 10, 2014, 07:51:35 AM
We are glad to announce ASICMiner's 4th generation chip. From the physical testing data
of our verification sample, BE300S, the silicon results matches the simulation results faithfully,
and even outperforms our simulation in some cases. BE300S achieved the lowest energy
consumption per gigahash in existing market, getting the joule/gh ratio down below 0.2.

Furthermore, our string-based power solution eliminates almost all power losses and almost
all electric components on the board. Therefore on-wall power consumption would be very close
to (on-chip power/PSU efficiency), and the overall system cost is squeezed to its minimum.

Name: BE300S (Sample)

Technology: TSMC 28nm HPC

Package: FCLGA 5mm x 5mm

On chip efficiency (first board):
    3.0GH/s | 0.1872W/G
    4.8GH/s | 0.2275W/G
    5.2GH/s | 0.2469W/G

On board efficiency (average of 4 boards):
    2.8GH/s | 0.1961W/G
    3.2GH/s | 0.2026W/G
    3.6GH/s | 0.2095W/G
    4.0GH/s | 0.2145W/G
    4.8GH/s | 0.2204W/G
    5.2GH/s | 0.2257W/G
    5.6GH/s | 0.2314W/G
    6.4GH/s | 0.2363W/G
    6.8GH/s | 0.2439W/G
    7.2GH/s | 0.2495W/G

24 chip board efficiency:
    118.56GH/s | 0.26W/G
    155.04GH/s | 0.27W/G
    176.64GH/s | 0.31W/G
    273.60GH/s | 0.38W/G

With more accurate control on the variance between chips we could in principle gain less power consumption in advance.

We are still testing more voltage-frequency combinations, as well as more chips.
But the test results are stable and solid so far.

After the thorough testing of single chip boards, we are going to test boards with chained chips.

6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Block Erupter Tube Sales Information Thread [Round4, Price at <1btc per TH/s] on: August 12, 2014, 11:18:57 AM
Block Erupter Prisma (1.4TH/s with less W/G) will be shipped in October. Please see:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=791827.0

for details.

Brief
ASICMiner Tube is based on the X24 open source design for BE200.

PCB File: https://github.com/blockerupter/AM_BE200_X24

CAD: https://github.com/blockerupter/AM_Tube

Spec
Hashrate: 200-215GH/s per hashing unit in normal mode, 800-850GH/s per full set.

Power consumption: ~0.9 J/GH board-wise. Gets higher along with
ambient temperature. On-wall power consumption relies on PSU efficiency.

Size: 25cmx12cmx12cm per full set.

Weight: 5.2kg per full set.

Powering: 1-2 6pin PCI-E plugs per hashing unit.

The hashing units are driven by ethernet controllers. Each ethernet controller
can run up to 32 units.

A full device consists of:

4 hashing units
4 thermal pads (optional, on demand)
1 to 1/8 ethernet controller (multiple devices can share one controller)
1 cooling kit
1 fan

After connecting the ethernet controller to hashing units, you can
type 192.168.0.254:8000/FlashMega on your web browser to update to the
newest firmware on each hashing unit (no internet connection is needed). After that
you can type 192.168.0.254:8000 to access the configuration page.

When assembling, do not forget to insert the ivory color washer (4 per device) between
the handle and the fan when screwing the fan onto the cooling kit.
It serves the protection of the PCB when screwing.

We observed some cases that the boards are bent, detached from the heatsink due to the not using
of washers, or screwing too tight from the handle to the fan. This will cause unexpected behavior
since the wires inside boards may break, or some parts will overheat because of bad attachment to heatsinks.

It is highly recommended that you have one or several redundant ethernet controllers in case
that some of them are dysfunctional.

1. The miner can not directly run with f2pool. If you want to mine on f2pool, you need a PC or a raspberry PI
with a mining proxy. The ethernet controller needs to be pointed to the proxy instead of the pool.

2. We now offer the shipping of fully assembled devices. If you need them to be shipped as a whole please specify
in your order. We still prefer separate shipping though, because it will reduce the potential shipping damage significantly.

3. The ethernet controller needs a 12V 1A DC input. You could either use a separate AC/DC for it, or wire one
directly from your PSU for the hashing boards.

4. Shipping to countries outside mainland China is free.

General Policy
1. Payment before shipping. The shipping order follows the payment order.

2. No refunds after the generation of tracking numbers.

3. If the corresponding tracking number has not been generated, we provide full refund starting from 6th September.

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / The Open Source Block Erupter Project on: June 06, 2014, 04:59:52 PM
https://github.com/blockerupter

We start this project to improve the design of Bitcoin mining devices powered by ASICMiner chips. It also aims to tackle the technical challenges of Bitcoin mining in general. We hope that with the help of the community we can keep the project active and successful.

The initial submissions consist of our own reference designs for BE200 chips. They contain hardware, firmware and software, and we had them produced and tested. They can be directly used for mass production. Contributions in forms of patches, forks and brand new designs, are all welcome.

We would like to see the project evolve and attract more and more able engineers. Thus we are in preparation of rewarding contributors and would like to be the sponsor of the future core developer team in the long term.

Notes

1) We would like to let the project run by contributors. Please mail to jason@bitquan.com to discuss details of pull requests. And if you would like to help us by being our project manager who could maintain both this thread and github repos, please also apply by mailing to jason@bitquan.com so that we could give you payments covering your time and opportunity cost.

2) Our support for contributors besides direct reward are twofold. First, we offer sample chips to the contributors. Second, we are able to manufacture sample boards and system according to the contributors' designs. The average time of making PCB is three working days, while SMT takes only one working day.

3) We offer Bitcoin rewards to contributors who submit significant improvements or new designs. And when the de-facto core developer team emerges, we make it official in the form of continuing salary.

4) The next gen chips, BE300, are likely to be compatible with BE200 with respect to pinouts and package. Therefore all efforts on BE200 based designs are always useful in the long term.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / [ANN]ASICMiner Publicly Looking for Potential Customers/Partners for New Chips on: January 29, 2014, 12:20:29 PM
Declaration: Before physical chips are out and fully tested, all specs/dates/data are for reference only and subject to change.

Although with unexpected obstacles, timing rearrangements and delays, our chips are still on track of delivery in March. This thread for releasing information of chips to public, with the intention of getting enough (direct) customers or (indirect) resellers aware before actual chips are produced.

The information will be updated to be more and more accurate, as we are updated with our fab, engineers, as well as the mining market.

Specification
Process node: 40nm
Package type: QFN64 8mmx8mm (with another option of QFN64 7mmx7mm possible)
I/O: Standard SPI protocol with clk, in, out and cs.
Rated Hashrate: 12.8GHash/s per chip, with a wide range of overclock/downclock options
Rated Voltage: 0.72V, recommended voltage range is 0.55V-1V
Power Consumption: 0.2J/GHash low voltage, 0.35J/GHash rated voltage

What to expect with the chips
Datasheets and reference PCB design are going to be released as soon as they are ready.

Chips will be available for ordering once the functionality and yield rate are confirmed with testing on actual chips.

There will be three modes of orders: Immediate delivery, 2-month delivery and 3-month delivery, with the price getting lower one by one. For 2-month and 3-month delivery, premium + balance payment may be supported to enhance liquidity and enable larger orders.

Both USD and Bitcoin payments are supported, but the nominal price will be based on USD.

Full devices from ASICMiner are definitely going to exist on the form of samples and small batches. ASICMiner may also build new mining farms based on new chips. Unsliced wafers may also be available for sale. But the main business direction is to provide packaged chips.

Price range
0.49$/G-0.99$/G, depending on order size and delivery speed of choice.

Please bear in mind that when choosing brands of Bitcoin mining chips, the cost of making whole working mining devices, including PSUs, DC/DC, heatsinks, fans, and room cooling facilities, needs to be taken into account. With our relatively low power consumption, the customer can save more money on the devices' side.

Partners

Customers in the rest of the world
Minimum Order Volume of 50 USB sticks. Price of 0.99 each. 2% sent as redundancy (not in warranty). Shipping is free.
If you reach the total volume of 1,000 USB sticks, price is dropped to 0.89 each. We will also pay back the price difference of all your historic transaction (timeline started from the 0.99 pricing) of USB sticks. For example, if you bought more than 1,000 sticks, 500 for 1.99 and 500 for 0.99, the new price will be 0.89, and we will pay you the price difference for the 0.99 USB sticks, that is (0.99-0.89)*500=50BTC.
If we get an excluding deal with resellers in some certain countries we will stop directly supply USBs towards there, as in the case of China zone, Canada zone, and EU zone.

Shareholder
If you are a shareholder of ASICMINER, you will have the privilege of paying later. You will have 15 days to pay after shipping. The maximum volume of USB sticks for this policy you enjoy is (share number / 3, rounded down). Your (USB number * 3) shares will be frozen, thus not trade-able, as collateral, till payment for the USB. If you fail to pay, the shares will be collected back by ASICMINER. The minimum volume requirement of 50 USB sticks still holds for shareholders.

19  Bitcoin / Hardware / [Announcement] Block Erupter USB Ready to Hash Everywhere in the World on: May 21, 2013, 03:41:36 PM
The first mass production batch (sapphire) has finished its PCB production and assembly today.

It has significant improvements in:

Heat reduction: 560mA (emerald) -> 500-510mA (sapphire).

Stability: We stressed it with 9 Block Erupter USBs in a row without heatsinks heating up each other in a very dense USB hub with 25C without active airflow. No unexpected (non-probabilistic) HW errors ever happen.

Speed: This comes after better stability. Now the hashrate converges to its theoretical value of 336MH/s.

Appearance:
Manual assembly (emerald) -> SMT machine assembly (sapphire)
  Standard heat-sink (emerald) -> heat-sink front-case 2-in-1 logo-ed (sapphire).
  LED added.

Four types of front-case:

All of them are eager to be powered up and hashing!

We had shipped the first 200 USBs today immediately after they are out of the factory. Soon more than 10,000 shiny little stones will be distributed international and quietly erupt blocks.

Purchasing
Pricing: retail price 49.99BTC each, 48.99 each if quantity >= 10 in a single order, 47.99 each if quantity >= 20 in a single order.
Contact: Please send mail to (asicminer.blades@gmail.com) about the quantity, your postal address, zip code and telephone number. PM to friedcat(this account) or fnnirvana@gmail.com about this sales thread may be ignored.
Shipping: DHL for international, SF-Express for China.

Notes
  1. Fans are not accompanied with blades anymore. They were more or less intended to serve as a help of quick setup and mining testing for users who haven't got proper cooling yet, but turns out to be quite misleading by making people think the fans are powerful enough to cool the (already)over-voltaged and (easily)over-clocked blades.
  2. To make the whole shipping process smooth enough, no more racks are given out or for sales. As a compensate we practice the bulk price discount as shown above.
  3. Please be aware that the payment processing and shipping will be less prioritized than the remaining orders in the third auction. It may be 1-2 days less timely before the third auction's shipping is completed. After that it will resume the instant-style speed.
