2  Economy / Exchanges / Best exchange for loaning out BTC on: November 19, 2017, 03:58:47 AM
Given bitfinex is no longer catering to individual US customers, I am looking for another exchange where I can loan out BTC and earn interest. Ideally, no verification required. Thanks all. Best.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Merging multiple wallet.dat encrypted files on: January 18, 2015, 06:24:32 PM
I'm migrating most of my coins to cold storage. However, over the past 4 years I have amassed a lot of bitcoin addresses - some occasionally receive small change (old group buys, AM shares, etc).

Is there an easy way to merge ~4 wallet.dat files? I found some manual ways with dumping private keys, but anything easier?
4  Economy / Speculation / TheJuice's Price Theory for 2015 on: January 17, 2015, 11:59:59 PM
My hope is to revisit this topic at the end of 2015 and see how many of my predictions came true.

Today, 1/17, we saw bitcoin sway around the $200 mark; in response difficulty is dropping. All miners at the 1W per Ghash level or worse have been squeezed out. The newest, best miners are barely profitable. WHat does this mean for the price of bitcoin?

1) Difficulty, and hence new machinery will stop being produced in 2015 unlike 2014. What happens when there is a decrease in miner hardware? To produce hardware these companies are taking orders in BTC and converting into fiat to pay employees, vendors, producers, etc. Think of all the SELLING pressure that produced in 2014. This selling pressure will stop - but could continue if the price rises. Overall this will have a POSITIVE effect on price.

2) Continued end-user growth through mainstream applications. The user base, your average Jo will be able to use bitcoin, but most likely the stores accepting bitcoin will convert bitcoins back to FIAT. This will have a NEUTRAL effect. In 2014, it was great that many mainstream stores accepted bitcoin - except every purchase put selling pressure on the market. 2015 will not be the year where stores hold on to btc instead of immediately converting to fiat. I hope this will happen in 2016 or 17. Await my Jan 2016 predictions.

3) New investment vehicle for the average user through finally an ETF. This will stabilize the price and result in a net inflow of fiat. This will be POSITIVE.

4) Governments across the world will recognize bitcoin as a currency. This will have widespread tax implications. Furthermore, it will allow for in 2017 the first large bank to exchange fiat for btc at local branches.

5) Thus, due to those influence I expect a strong positive trend this year - probably a small bubble or two. Expected price range at the end of the year to be ~$800 USD (would not be surprised if in the 1000 range given #1 above).

Godspeed. I'll bring this post back in 2016.

5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / We just crossed the 1W=1Ghash break even point. on: January 17, 2015, 11:43:14 PM
We just crossed below the profitability point for all the 1Ghash for 1W home miners out there (home meaning electricity is 10c/kWh).

I'm keeping my miners on just due to the fact they keep my room warm. End of an era for my home mining setup.
6  Economy / Auctions / [Auction] Selling My Signature for 14 days on: September 06, 2014, 04:22:21 PM
Hi all,

I am a senior member, over the past 3 months I have posted 220+ times, with nearly 100 in the last month.

I am auctioning off my signature space in 2 weeks chunks.

I guarantee:

1) At least 25 posts in a 2 week period (this is negotiable).
2) They will be roughly spread out over the 2 weeks
3) I currently post in hardware and economics forums. If you request, I'm happy to focus posts in specific areas.
4) Your ad(s) will be the only text in my signature.

You will:

1) Must prepay, or use escrow services. Escrow fees paid by buyer.

I am open to further terms, for instance a graded scale per post.

Auction will start at 0.05 for 14 days, each bid must increase by .005.

While I am open to pretty much any ad in my signature, I reserve the right to veto any ad that is illegal, adult material, or any other reason.

Happy BIDDING!

7  Bitcoin / Hardware / KNC Nov Jup - ?damaged in transit on: September 04, 2014, 04:13:43 AM
We recently shipped a KNC miner across the country. It was working perfectly prior to departing. However, it is now powering off around an hour after booting up. In addition the temps are higher than previously. All fans are attached upon opening up the case.

Miner was reset and updated to newest firmware without effect.

Ideas?
8  Economy / Auctions / [Auction] Working KNCminer November Jup on: August 15, 2014, 05:46:15 PM
Trying to clean out some room in the house.

I have a working KNCMiner 'november' batch jup - currently going at 670 ghash, but probably can overclock more. PSU not included. I can provide pics to all interested parties.

I have an interested buyer at $350 USD. Just wanted to see if that was market value.

I'll ship only to US. Buyer pays shipping and (optional) escrow fees.

For the sake of easy money transfer it will be done in BTC. $350 is now 0.7BTC.

Starting BID: 0.7 BTC
Increment: 0.02

ENDS 4 days from now (8/19 @ 1800 UTC)

I reserve the right to sell at anytime to my outside buyer or any bids here on the form. Will ship 8/20

Cheers,

TJ
9  Bitcoin / Mining support / KNC solomine without host computer on: June 13, 2014, 08:44:26 PM
Is there anyway for a standalone knc miner to solo without another computer? I'd like to gamble on solo mining, but don't have the ability to have another server set up.

Are we getting close?!?
11  Economy / Auctions / Have 10BTC to increase my hash rate. on: March 22, 2014, 11:07:16 PM
I have 10 BTCs I want to invest to increase my hashrate. This is a nonbinding auctions, since I can anticipate people disagreeing with the best offer. But I plan to use all 10 to buy hardware.

I prefer hardware I don't have to host.
Shares in GB are okay, but no I'll host my miner for you deals.
Securities are okay, but lower priority.

This is a great way to cash in on your hardware!!!

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why is litecoin rallying? on: November 28, 2013, 04:58:56 AM
I've been out of the litecoin/altcoin scene for a while. I've been mining litecoins and when I hit 100 I convert to btc. Well, I had 100 today and I log onto btce and see .045 and rising...

what did I miss?
13  Economy / Auctions / [Auction] 10 Mining Shares of a KNC Jup on: November 21, 2013, 01:25:37 AM
Friends,

I have purchased a November delivery of a KNC Jupiter Miner. As insurance against a rapidly rising difficulty I have decided to sell off 200 Ghash worth (20 Ghash per share) of mining power for 45 days.

PLEASE READ FOR EXACT DETAILS AS THIS IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN MOST CONTRACTS.

Each share represents 20 Ghash of mining power, regardless of how much the Jupiter actually produces as long as it is > 400 Ghash. If the miner is < 400 Ghash I reserve the right to RMA it OR make each share worth 5% of total Ghash.

This is in case KNC delivers a terrible produce of say 300 ghash model (very unlikely).

The mining contract will start upon delivery, setting it up and hashing on a pool. It will last for exactly 45 days from the start of mining. If there is significant downtime > 1 day, this time will be added on to the 45 days.

As of now I plan to mine on ghash.io and will set your address as a shareholder, thus you will receive nearly continuous payments. However, given the changing landscape I reserve the right to change pools at anytime. In the case of pool switching, divs will be paid @ 15, 30 and 45 days.

And finally TheJuice's guarantee:

If you do not make a profit on this investment I will refund you 50% of your loss. Meaning if you pay 1 BTC and after 45 days you only make back .6 BTC, I will send you .2 BTCs. In the case on non-delivery I will refund 50% of your loss (remember I will have taken a big loss as well).

There is NO electricity fee. There is NO maintenance fee. This is pure 20 Ghash per share for 45 days with a mining guarantee.

Starting BID: 0.1 BTC per share
Increase: 0.01 BTC per BID
Reserve: 0.6 BTC per share (if highest bids are lower than reserve we will have a discussion and I'm still likely to sell).

I am open to escrow: The proposed terms would be it's held by escrow until either proof of miner being delivered or proof/public knowledge that KNC didn't ship. Buyer pays all fees.

FAQ:

Why only 45 days? With increasing difficulty most miners make the bulk of their profit in the first month. Having been part of many group buys, there is never an end game. 45 days allows a majority of the profit to be made, while also allowing shares to be purchased for cheap. In addition, I don't want this responsibility for ever!

Can I transfer shares: I will allow free share transfer. However upon transfer TheJuice's guarantee is NULL and VOID (it will be a pain to try and figure out how much to owe everyone).

The AUCTION will end in 5 days. Any additional bids will extend the bidding period by 1 hour.

Looking forward to a profitable endeavor.

Hey All -

I transfered some btc into btcchina yesterday before the peak. Right after they were sent my account was locked for 3 hours for my protection. It's been 36 hours and still locked. I have email support. Has anyone else had this issue?

At this point I would like to just get a refund on my btc deposited.

15  Economy / Securities / [BUYING] Coinhoarder Avalon Shares on: November 18, 2013, 02:12:43 AM
Hi all,

I'm looking to expand exposure to CoinHoarder's original 7 Avalon group mine. I've bought shares on our private forums, but know not many people check anymore.

My current offer is 0.055 BTCs per share as my funds allow. This is valid for the next few days!

Enjoy and happy mining!

16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Who is 1Cwb33nqn4S2uDsXwhNrUNy7FPdiRYhyM8? (100 BTCs in fees!) on: November 10, 2013, 05:14:20 AM

17  Economy / Auctions / [Auction] 6 Shares in CoinHoarder's Group MultiMine - actively mining on: October 31, 2013, 08:56:28 PM
I am auctioning off 6 shares in CoinHoarder's Diversified Group Buy (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=268280.0). We have ordered over 2.2 TH of equipment AND our KNC Jupiter is generating coins. Each share represents roughly 1/360th of total mining power.

As of 10/31/13
Ordered:
2 Bitfury 400 Gh Kit - (October Delivery)
2 VMC Fast Hash One 256 Gh - (October/November Delivery)
1 HashFast Baby Jet 400 Gh - (Late October Delivery)

Received:
1 KNC Miner Jupiter 400Gh - (October Delivery)

Starting Bid: 0 BTC per share.
Increment: 0.01 BTC per share.
Reserve: 1.0 BTC per share (I will likely sell below this value as well).

ENDS: 11/4 @ 14:00 forum time. Each additional bid will add 2 hours to auction.

Methods of Payment: BTC

I will use escrow if buyer insists, paid by buyer. However, since CH holds these shares it is not usually needed.

I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time before the reserve price is met.

Happy Bidding.
18  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Against the grain: Difficulty will plateau 3/2014 on: August 13, 2013, 10:57:40 PM
Like we saw with GPU adoption we had an explosion of hashing power, and then leveled off nicely. Since we have gen2 on the heals of gen1 asic we are going to see a continued exaggerated increase, but not for much longer.

It appears gen2/3 will come in around ~20 ghash for ~1 BTC after price pressure @ ~1.5 Watt per ghash.

Then I asked what difficulty would yield ROI in 6 months? A stable BTC/USD yields a difficulty of around 1 billion (20x current).

At 50% growth, we will see that in 3/2014.

ASIC USB miners at that time will earn 0.003 BTC/month profit.

We will see if this hold true.
