I just can't imagine how a piece of paper with "Here is 1 Bitcoin" could be better than just 1 Bitcoin.

Hi. I am brain center of DIANNA Project Actually my project had stuck on future scalability problem. DIANNA needs easily accessible Bitcoin block chain indexed by block hash and transaction hash.

This is very big problem for local computers - its a [giga|tera|peta]bytes of data being constantly read.

I know Bitcoin community also have worries about Bitcoin database size and its load in future.

I think we may solve this problem together once and forever.

What do I need is to design and implement distributed, redunant, DHT-like (HASH=[block/transaction body]) storage for Bitcoin. Each network participant will store some piece of block chain and respond for inbound queries.

As benefit for most network participants - there will be no need to store 100% of data locally and read 100% of data locally. Each will serve his own piece of chain. And as network will grow, storage size/read capacity will also grow.

I think it is okay to put blocks bodies to DHT-like storage a leave only block headers locally as trusted chain skeleton.

I have no expirence with C and DHT. Could someone participate with this? I can sponsor this task. And if community need this feature, other sponsors welcome.

So you all know, one thing we are noticing is that we keep losing the connection to the MTGox source data feed about every 20 minutes, however we automatically reconnect. This past hour we also noticed 2 interruptions lasting 3 minutes.

We see that the MTGox data feed is not entirely reliable and also from an engineering perspective, its technical implementation really is very confusing and not well structured. They are using what is called a web socket and then on top of that Socket I/O . This is unnecessary and the method by which this is implemented is not technically correct. So we are not very impressed with the MTGox data feed. This is just a comment.

They also do not provide an efficient data feed. However, this is not of much significance for us.

Aside from all this, we are going to do the very best we can to provide a reliable Bitcoin data feed.

Биткоинеры довольны. Они ожидали сопротивления со стороны федов, но его нет! А может это засада? Пендосы ведь не дураки, они знают про эффект стрейзанд. Если начинаешь что то запрещать, то это только подстегивает интерес толпы. ЦРУ например, никогда не ломится в чужой огород напрямую со времен Въетнама. Разрушают изнутри, раскачивая обстановку.

А что, если я фед и у меня есть хитрый план по дестабилизации Bitcoin. И заключается он вот в чем.

Цель плана:
1. Усыпить бдительность
2. Сделать невозможной работу мерчантов по децентрализованной схеме - повысить волатильность
3. Заставить всех мерчантов работать по централизованной схеме, сконцентрировать экономику в нескольких точках (bitpay, mtgox).
4. Сконцентрировать в центральных точках как можно больше сильных, известных мерчантов: wordpress, namecheap, amazon
5. Немного подождать.
6. Нанести сокрушающий удар по нескольким центральным точкам.

Реализация:
1. Дадим понять комьюнити что мы их не замечаем, а если замечаем, то особо не придаем значения (FinCEN, ECB отчет). Успыляем бдительность.
2. Дабы децентрализованная схема оказалось болезненной (прямой прием биткоин), наполняем рынок печатной продукцией. Волатильность повышается, хомяки в эйфории без каких либо признаков бдительности, прямой прием биткоин парализован, мерчанты смотрят только в сторону централизованных решений типа Bitpay, которые обеспечивают страховку от волатильности. Силкроад в этой точке сосет.

Имеется шайтан-коробка 2010 года выпуска (август). Не патченая. Все чих пых. На борту стоит 250Г винт, 1 беспроводной джойстик (2хАА батарейки).

В нагрузку идут игры:

* Dead space
* Метро 2033 (по повести Глуховского)
* и там несколько он деманд

Игры что ни на есть лицензионные (по сто баксов штука покупались в свое время).

Приставка годная, абсолютно без дефектов. Аномалий в работе замечено не было. Играл не очень активно. Редко, но метко. Износить особо ничего не успел.

Причина продажи - потерян интерес к играм =) Лежит себе кирпичом, место занимает.

Отдам это все киевлянину за $330 практически в любой наличной или безналичной форме, в том числе, Bitcoin - по курсу MtGox VWAP на день заключения сделки. Самовывоз.

В частности интересует такой вопрос.

Насколько я понимаю, Scrypt был запилен для пессимизации производительности GPU с попыткой уровнять его с CPU с целью не обрушивать внезапно на сеть дикие GPU мощности.

Если это так, то получается Scrypt избавил, скажем LTC, от проблемы внезапной большой мощности из немногих рук (майнеров), но обнажил сеть перед другой угрозой - внезапной большой мощности из многих маленьких рук. То есть, от ботнета.

Правильно ли я понимаю, что мало мальский ботнет с CPU серьезно угрожает сети, основанной на Scrypt PoW? При чем, из-за пессимизации производительности GPU, для Scrypt эта проблема более актуальна, чем для sha2?

Actually I am tired of this shit happening on MtGox. I considered it is not suitable for good trading as it always provides traders with surprises. Points:

* Order lag (its a bug actually casted to feature!)
* Trade interrupts, engine freeze. From minutes to hours.
* Sudden price false spikes, for example my ask order is at $13.80 and price went to $14 then down without affecting my order.
* Absolutely no feedback on above from Mt.Gox side (dummy answers). They pretend its okay and running fine.
* The most draconian fees in bitcoin world. They leave all above untouched having about up to $100.000 or even greater on daily fees.

I am silent about fiat withdrawals issues. This subforum should have a lot of such.

Taking into account all positive and negative effects of my decision, I decided that working with Gox is a pain in ass full of hidden risks which can overwhelm profits some day.

I move to BTC-E. I am not a big fish for Gox, but seems that big for btc-e. And liquidity issues are less pain in ass than mtgox ones on this stage.

I make this decision public to show my big pennis to Mt.Gox.
