1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crime funded by bitcoin on: June 06, 2017, 10:10:45 AM
Since Bitcoin was ever released, I've thought of the possibility of this. Will crimes be easily funded now due to bitcoin and it's anonymity? How do you think the authorities will combat this? Will this lead to a decline in the price of bitcoin? I've had this on my mind for a while now and I would like to hear your guys opinions.
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / The first private key collision? on: September 09, 2016, 05:41:04 AM
I was talking to my friend and he has told me that while using bitcoin core, he generated a new address and found almost 0.2 already in it. It has received two payments in 7 days that weren't made by him, one 0.004 and another one 0.01.

Has he stumbled over the first private key collision?

5  Economy / Trading Discussion / How to keep safe when verifying ID? on: August 03, 2016, 04:57:54 AM
Hey guys, with the recent bitfinex hack and the price plummet, id like to buy. But im also concerned about my Cyber-security. If the site I use gets hacked, anyone can take and leak my financial documents or my driver's licence. How would I keep safe?

P.S. Im probably to late to reap the bonuses, but hacks always happen and I want to be ready. Smiley
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Odds of finding a fellow bitcoiner. on: July 28, 2016, 09:23:48 PM
Just today, I was on the bus and I was fiddling with my OTG cable to send a transaction on my phone with my Ledger wallet. I looked to my right, and what where the odds? The guy next to me was doing the same! We started talking, and we just kept talking!

What are the odds of you meeting a bitcoiner IRL?

P.s. I was not taking into the window.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger wallet - How to make an address totally disconnected from another? on: July 27, 2016, 10:22:04 AM
Thinking it would be cool to do this. If you can't do it already, it should be a thing!

Let's say I have one Ledger wallet. I understand that any address it generates will be a derivative of the private key. In this way, any addresses generated can be linked through something like walletexplorer.

But I've just realised after months of using my Ledger wallet that you can make new accounts inside the same wallet. So if I create an address here, will this address be totally disconnected from one that is in a different account? (Not connectable by something like walletexplorer)

Or is it just a UI thing, your addresses are in actuality together, but in the wallet are just shown seperately?

Also, if these addresses are actually unconnected, would this be be a security hazard for something like the forum

Regards.

Just done a giveaway for 0.001 each to 3 people. I thought that was a bit boring, and small amount too. What are some creative and effective ways to donate/giveaway bitcoins to people in this particular community? What would you like to see?
