1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon hash rate keeps resetting, USB hub issues? on: August 18, 2013, 12:06:43 PM
Hi All,

So I am seeing this appear over and over in the System Log, but my other Avalon boxes have no such problem:

I noticed that my box's hash rate started resetting to 0 MH/s and then climbing back up to 70 or so. It did this once before right when I first got my Avalon and I couldn't figure out why. I moved the box around a bit and the issue went away ever since.

Fast forward a month: I had to re-arrange some hardware recently and my Avalon ran fine for a day, then stopped hashing last night. I restarted it and then it ran fine for several hours. When I log in, I see the above in the logs, the 5 second average hash rate climbs up to the 70 or so GH/s then resets to 0 and repeats.

It seems to me that maybe I have a bad hub connection judging by the logs. Currently I have it set to run at 300 MHz, but it has no problems hitting 345 MHz and ran for a month just fine before I moved it around. WiFi is disabled, etc.

Anyone else experienced problems like this? How did you resolve it?
2  Bitcoin / Pools / How can I efficiently switch pools on lots of miners at once? on: May 14, 2013, 08:44:19 AM
So I have a few miners spread across three different physical locations. Each location has its own independent internet connection. Occasionally, I like to switch pools to mine different altcoin currencies, get better stability, better stats, whatever.

My machines all run on Windows and re-imaging and installing them is not an option. They all run CGMiner from batch files.

BAMT seemed appealing at one time, but seems the setup would be pretty laborious on 20 machines.

Ideally what I would like is something, perhaps a webpage hosted on a central computer, where I can proxy all of my miners through to whatever pool I specify on the server.

Any suggestions, ideas, etc are greatly appreciated.
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon Batch 3 - Will You Order? on: March 21, 2013, 07:48:03 AM
Seems there's a lot of mixed thoughts on the price, so in the interest of community understanding I thought I'd create a simple poll for people to get a sense of what everyone's collective thoughts are on the matter.
4  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Three Dead 5850s At Once? on: July 21, 2012, 08:05:10 AM
So I hooked up 4 HD 5850s to a 850W power supply, but was short on PCI-E connectors. To make up the difference I used two molex to PCI-E adapters and ran them to two different cards. I ran out of PCI-E splitters. These adapters had two molex connectors each into one PCI-E. I hooked up both of them for each adapter.

I turned on the machine and nothing came on. I believe the fans spun, but no post. One card out of the 3 seemed to survive whatever it was that happened to these cards. The cards are Visiontek reference series and I don't have the invoice for warranty, they're expired. Is it possible that something more simple happened to them, such as the BIOS got wiped out or something by some power protection mechanism?

I'd love to recover these cards if possible. Any thoughts on what might have happened/how I can possibly diagnose them via DOS utilities or something?

Thanks!
5  Other / Beginners & Help / I run a 35 GH/s mining operation, ask me anything! on: June 29, 2012, 06:38:03 PM
Hey all, I am new to posting on these forums, but not new to bitcoin. I've been mining for about a year and have grown my bitcoin mining operation to roughly 35 GH/s. Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to provide all the answers I can to help you with your efforts.

Cheers!

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Is GPUMAX Down? on: June 29, 2012, 05:51:21 PM
I recently read that GPUMAX was going to begin suspending accounts that had two or more IP addresses from different subnets. As of now, GPUMAX isn't picking up any of my miners. I do have three separate internet connections for all my miners, but they all use the same service provider.

Anyone know the state of things regarding GPUMAX?
