2  Economy / Speculation / We have cheap coins now... so stop complaining!!! on: February 14, 2014, 06:27:55 AM
Everyone was bitching about how they didn't buy enough coins when they were cheaper, and now they're complaining about how the price crashed.

Buy some cheap coins now while it's low so when the prices goes back over 1000 you can brag about it.
3  Other / Off-topic / What type of coding is used in sites like Satoshi Dice? on: May 30, 2013, 08:11:34 PM
I'm eager to learn how to make websites like Satoshi dice, Bitzino, or Pinballcoin.com. However, I don't even know where to start. I don't know anything about coding except for a little HTML and CSS. I don't even know if all the sites I just listed use the same code language.

Can someone point me in the right direction. Should I be learning PHP, python, or Java?
4  Other / Meta / Is my signature too annoying? on: April 30, 2013, 03:20:24 AM
I changed my signature awhile ago to help promote the projects I work on. However, recently I've begun to feel like the background colors might be too annoying. I don't know if there is any kind of signature etiquette around here? Are you more likely to ignore it if it's too obnoxious? What can I do to improve it while still displaying my projects?
5  Economy / Speculation / Conspiracy Theory: MtGox will not return on: April 11, 2013, 03:46:15 PM
The employees at Mt.Gox know the site will be shut down. They created the anouncement that they are going down temporarily so they have time to cash out from different exchanges. Once everyone realizes Mt.Gox is not coming back the price will plummet.

Just a theory, who knows?
6  Economy / Auctions / Domain: Bitapparel.com on: April 03, 2013, 01:12:50 PM
Selling the domain BitApparel.com. I planned on using it but things didn't work out, and I want to see someone do something really cool with it.

Here's proof:

Bidding will start at $5. It will be easier to use USD bids because the prise has been rising quickly.

Auction will end 30 April 2013.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can we get Google to stop spellchecking "Bitcoin" on: March 26, 2013, 11:49:40 PM
I use Chrome and it bothers me every time I see that damn red squiggly line under "bitcoin". I know I can just click add to dictionary, but it should be considered a legitimate word.
9  Economy / Speculation / We hit $50 on Bitcoinity on: March 18, 2013, 11:22:29 PM
10  Economy / Service Discussion / Chrome extension update seems fishy? on: March 03, 2013, 01:01:48 AM
I've used the chrome extension "Mt Gox Peek" for a few months now and it works great. All it does is show the current price of bitcoins in the top of the browser. However, today it's asking for permission to update the terms. The exact quote is:

"The newest version of Mt. Gox Peek has been disabled because it requires more permissions. It can now - Access your data on mtgox.com and www.forex.com".

That seems bad to me. It's just supposed to display the price, why would it need to access my mtgox data? And what the hell does forex have to do with anything?
11  Economy / Speculation / Valentines Day Masacre Theory on: February 14, 2013, 03:15:56 AM
Here's my theory on todays drop:

  • Many Bitcoiners found love today.
  • Most were so lonely that they fell too deep into love.
  • Their lovers convinced them to drop everything and move away.
  • These suckers cashed out to finance their drug fuel sex vacation.
  • ??????
  • Profit.

Thoughts?

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / My backup was stolen on: September 18, 2012, 01:41:59 PM
I keep my backup wallet on a thumb drive. Like an idiot I took that flash drive to school and left it in the computer lab. What can I do to make sure the backup isn't used if someone who knows about bitcoin finds it?

Update: I used piper67's advice and was able to fix everything. Thanks for all the suggestions.

15  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin would benefit in the long term if Pirate defaults. on: August 27, 2012, 03:51:14 AM
Here me out:

If Pirate indeed pays out all lenders then it would open up the market for Ponzi schemes. More people would have reason to believe high intrest returns with no public business plan.

If Pirate defaults people will become more aware that Ponzis exits in the Bitcoin economy and this will lead to more skepticism of long term deposits with high return rates.

18  Other / Beginners & Help / Reading Charts on: February 23, 2012, 03:58:15 AM
I've tried to understand the chart at btccharts.com, but I don't really know what the different lines mean. Can someone explain it to me like I'm 5.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Helpful Tools for Speculating on: February 12, 2012, 04:38:00 PM
I'm a noob here but I thought I'd share my favorite tools to use when speculating. First is a chrome extension that shows current exchange rate https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mplfonagphbambbggaghimbbhpjhapap . My second favorite tool is an app I have on my iPhone called "Bitcoin Ticker". Watching both consistently will allow you to recognize patterns.
