1  Economy / Games and rounds / [COVID-19] Folding@Crypto.Games ~ 0.4 BTC rewards, 0.04 BTC donated [Closed] on: March 31, 2020, 12:35:47 PM

It currently looks like most of us will be stuck inside or at home for another month, or at the very least until after the Easter Holidays.

We at Crypto.Games have decided to start a Folding@home team, and we'd like to run a little competition with it. Firstly, let me explain what Folding@home is:

F@H has been in the news a lot recently and seen huge increases in contributions, so if you already know what it is or are even folding yourself already, that's great.
If not, let me quickly describe what it is about: Folding@home uses your hardware while it is idle to perform scientific computations. Hardware in this regard includes CPUs and GPUs (eg an altcoin mining rig or your gaming PC, but also regular office PCs and workstations).
Among the top priorities for those projects right now is also one addressing covid-19. A more detailed explanation can be found here.
But to put it in dangerously brief terms: If you run folding@home right now, you help fight covid-19.

If you want to join our team and contribute, here's how you set everything up:
First off, download the Folding@home client, you can find all links to do so here (make sure you select the right OS).
Once you start folding for the first time, choose to set up your alias, and select a nickname (best one that is similar to your CryptoGames or Bitcointalk nickname, as you will use it to identify yourself).
Then select "247983" as your team number. This is very important, as only this way we can track your process. Make sure you enter the correct number here.
After that, tweak the settings for intensity and when to fold depending on your personal preferences, if you're not sure, try a few settings and see how they impact your browsing/regular use of the PC.

Now that we've covered the basics, let us explain the current event:
Starting right now and (until the end of April OR) until we run out of rewards, we'll be running a team competition for most Credits completed within our Folding@home team.
We will provide a total of 0.50 BTC as a prize pool for this event, all prizes will be dealt via the tipping feature on Crypto.Games, so if you do not have an account yet, sign up for one.
If we do make it to the top 100 on the monthly leaderboard for folding@home, we will double that 0.5BTC to 1.0BTC. (Unfortunately, that seems out of reach right now.)

Briefly explained, this is how it'll work:

  • 3 Groups: 1) Red Squad, 2) Green Squad, and 3) Blue Squad.
You'll be assigned to one of the three squads at random after posting both your Crypto-Games username and F@H username in this thread. If you have an altcoin preference, please tell us when you sign up, else BTC is the default.
Please use the following format: ("CG: #name# ; FH: #name# ; Coin: #ABC#")
If you want to donate your rewards (eg to DirectRelief), let us know and you will be assigned to the Rainbow Squad.
  • For every 100k credits you complete while folding, you will get 0.0001 BTC or an altcoin equivalent. The maximum reward for one user is at 0.01 BTC, which can be reached with 10 Million credits.
Continuing after that will however still contribute to your group's total.
  • In addition to the individual rewards, you and your squad will compete against the other groups for the most combined Credits. For this, we will sum the credits of all members of a squad.
The first placed squad gets 0.06 BTC, the second gets 0.03 BTC, and the last gets 0.01 BTC. Rewards are distributed evenly for each and every member of the group, assuming they did complete 5 or more Work Units.
Those that can't get many credits because they don't have the hardware to compete; don't worry. We're reserving 0.05 BTC for these cases and you'll be rewarded with lottery tickets at our own discretion.

All rewards will be sent after the event ends. We will provide an overview with currently earned rewards in regular intervals, check the first reply to see updated statistics and current team members.
Also please note that it is possible that the event ends earlier if we run out of rewards for credits!

This competition is ran on both Bitcointalk and the Crypto.Games Discord server. We will do our best to sync data between both places.
Please only sign up once, as there is just one competition running, signing up in both places only increases our work when keeping track of everyone.

Also, and this is very important, please don't try to cheat. We're trying to support an important cause here and we hope everyone can appreciate that and doesn't look to abuse the current situation.
We do reserve the right to disqualify users if we believe they act maliciously and are trying to abuse the competition.
2  Other / Meta / [Ban Evasion] Wapinter (u=527272), WBP (u=2094446) [& btvGainer (u=550869)] on: June 17, 2018, 05:48:31 PM
In this post, the user Wapinter admits they are in control of the two accounts btvGainer and Wapinter Bounty Portal.
They also admit they never sold/bought any accounts, which would mean that they have always been in control of those accounts.

I only own 2 other accounts besides this one.Btvgainer and Wapinter bounty portal.I am not involved in account selling.I still own all my accounts.

Furthermore, they also admit that WBP is currently banned (for 30 days, apparently). They admit that the ban is not yet lifted and still active.

I promptly lock the thread as soon as I learnt that a campaign I am managing is dubious. Unfortunatly xeonframe was posted by Wapinter bounty portal which is not available due to ban for 30 days hence I can not lock the thread but I am deleting the forms and posting this info in spreadsheet too.

Combining #1 and #2, they openly admit to be evading the ban on WBP with their alt account Wapinter, which they use to manage/bump the bounty threads posted by (the currently banned) WBP.

3  Other / Meta / [Ref Spam][Altcoins] List of StakeUnited Spammers (+ Similar Spam) on: May 08, 2018, 10:44:02 PM
I have noticed a few users who are (almost) exclusively posting in Altcoin (PoS) related threads to promote their affiliate links for a site called StakeUnited (as well as other staking pools).
As reporting each and every of those spam posts would be excessive, this thread serves as reference to my example reports to make moderators aware of said users.

4  Other / Meta / [Ban Evasion] Luckygames (uid=924703) & p1AYERLG (u=2075690) on: April 29, 2018, 01:17:22 PM
The account luckygames is currently banned from posting on the forum, the owner and operator of said account admitted to this,
and thus also inadvertently admitted to evading said ban, in a post they made with their newly created account p1AYERLG updating and bumping their ANN thread.

I've just found my account Luckygames suspended.

Reason: Ad spam, running multiple on-forum altcoin giveaway / Incentivising posting within specific threads. Ban duration: 60 days

All giveaway threads were hidden or removed.

Everyone starts new giveaways in new threads when previous are closed and there was not Ad spam but announcements.

We are waiting for the public explanation about this case.
The reason for your ban states this: running multiple on-forum altcoin giveaway
All removed threads have a "prize pool" that is not denominated in BTC, thus you were in violation of the forum rules when announcing/hosting those giveaways on bitcointalk.

5  Other / Meta / [Forum Ads] Administration's Stance on Misleading Information. on: December 04, 2017, 12:28:46 PM
What's the forums stance on ads clearly misleading users with wrong information about the advertised sites/products?
Currently, "Smart Billions" has 2 forum ads in rotation (https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfo),
one of which is correct and one of which isn't, they also contradict each other.

The first ad says "6000 ETH in jackpot", this is correct information and honest advertising.
Their jackpot amount indeed is 6230 ETH.

The second one however says "bet 0.01 ETH and win 70,000 ETH", this is misleading and a lie,
nobody can currenly win this amount with a 0.01 ETH bet, since the jackpot (which is the maximum possible win at the time) is only a bit over 6000.
Users are promised the chance to win 70,000 ETH, when clearly they only have the chance to win a bit over 6000.
This is intentionally misleading and an advertising lie.

8  Other / Meta / [G&R] Increasing amount of spam due to stream announcements. on: October 03, 2017, 05:38:22 AM
I think we're all used to the games and rounds section being filled with tiny giveaway threads, sports match predictions and stuff like that.
Lately, it's also being heavily spammed by announcements for streams (mostly people gambling), which amounts for up to 3 or 4 new threads per single stream. I'll add a few examples.

jessee39 needs 7 threads for their streams in 24 hours:

Today at 05:34:00 AM - Jesse's streaming
Today at 05:19:30 AM - Jesse streaming live ! Huge giveaway !
Today at 05:15:55 AM - Jesse's streaming stake.com live now ~ huge Giveaway's
Today at 05:19:15 AM - Jesse is streaming live today
Today at 05:11:50 AM - [Jesse] Streaming Stake.com - Big Giveaways!
October 02, 2017, 06:15:02 AM - Jesse Streaming live - Stake -02102017- Huge BTC giveaways
October 02, 2017, 05:13:22 AM - COME JOIN JESSE'S TWTCH AND WIN!! GIVEAWAYS

Shinjo posts a thread about their streams almost every day (over 80 by now):

Today at 02:04:37 AM - Shinjo Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 84
October 02, 2017, 02:19:26 AM - Shinjo Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 84
October 01, 2017, 02:00:24 AM - Shinjo Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 83
September 30, 2017, 01:54:59 AM - Shinjo Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 82
September 29, 2017, 01:55:48 AM - Shinjo Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 81
September 28, 2017, 02:01:54 AM - Streaming Live Now - Giveaway & Fun #Stream 80

Yaronovich announces their streams in a similar way (up to 28 threads till today):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;threads;u=924439;sa=showPosts

Personally, I think plain announcements of streams without any further in-thread content are pointless and spam.
At the very max, streamers should stick to one thread for their streams and update those thread, rather than creating new ones every day (or more than just a single one per day).

[This does not include threads related to streams that actually include a giveaway/serve a purpose. For example threads such as this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1939189.0 ]
9  Other / Meta / Forum Ads - ziber on: July 30, 2017, 07:27:21 AM
The forum currently advertises Ziber.io in one of its adspots.
Since the start of this round, their smart contract was hacked and investors funds were stolen.

The address currently shown on their page is not a smart contract address as claimed, but just a regular ETH address.
Any funds sent to this address are most likely going to be lost/stolen.

I know the forum shows that small disclaimer below ads, but in a case as blatant as this (like with bitcoinblackfriday before), the ad just should be removed, imo.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [PAID] Ascendancy Signature Campaign | Juniors and above on: January 17, 2017, 10:37:53 AM
CAMPAIGN OVER - PAYMENTS SENT!

As stated by Darkstar and Sparkit, we are currently discussing and have been discussing this whole situation via telegram. Myself, Lauda, Minerjones, Sparkit, Darkstar, Superwoot, and Lutpin are the participants in the discussion.

As far as the 7btc is concerned, we are discussion the appropriate course of action to take. Should we just refund the users that invested this 7btc? Should we give everyone who can prove they invested a %? I personally think since we never controlled the later investments then we should  only refund the investors whos money we controlled.

I apologize to everyone involved in the shit end of the deal. We obviously didnt expect this to happen

"Ascendancy is a Modular Decentralized Application Framework created to simplify the process of engaging in cryptocurrency projects and allowing users to develop their own decentralized applications. 11  Other / Meta / [Marketplace] Inquiry about the forum rules on: December 19, 2016, 03:39:36 PM
As of the latest addition to the marketplace rules by grue, "Reasonably similar items must be listed together".
Now I know this rule is up to the discretion of the moderator in charge, but I'd like to have clarification about a specific case.

The following three threads:
[WTS] 10BTC Casascius Silver Round /w Gold B - MINT - MOST DESIRED COIN!
[WTS] 1BTC Casascius Solid-Silver Round - MINT GRADE!
[WTS] 1BTC Casascius Silver Round /w Gold B - GOLD HEART ERROR COIN - VERY RARE!

All threads are for the sale of items I would call similar for several reasons
1) In every thread, a coin is being sold
2) All of those coins are made of silver
3) All of those coins are loaded with btc
4) All of those coins are graded by ANACS
5) All of those coins have been produced by casascius

Now to my questions:
1) Is this rule still acutal, and if yes, does it affect all childs of the marketplace, including collectibles?
2) Have reports about this simply not been handled, or an I wrong in my interpretation of the rules?
3) Is there any significant backlog on reports in general and at the level of global moderators in specific? (I'm asking for a friend)
4) What would be the most easy form for a report like this and how would the handling moderator prefer to get the information submitted?

(This thread served as a reference for reports of those listing in order to explain the report better and to allow the answering of the questions by a moderator in charge)

13  Other / Meta / [Marketplace] Seller deleting and reposting bumps to hide rule violations. on: November 06, 2016, 09:41:13 AM
As reporting of a specific scheme some seller use in order to hide their rule violations can get tricky in a single report,
this thread will serve as reference for those reports.
(It also can serve as reference for connected problems/rule violations, to keep Meta from cluttering up with single purpose threads.)

Seller 1: AmazonAWS
Thread in question: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669783.0
Archives of their violation: http://archive.is/mwNcK http://archive.is/ABcxk http://archive.is/SRHzK
14  Other / Meta / [Betcoin.AG] Bumping their thread < 24h | Double posting | Violating the rules on: October 21, 2016, 09:47:04 PM
Similar to the things BetBTC have been doing a few months ago,
Betcoin.AG is openly showing their disrespect to the forum rules by bumping their self-moderated thread several times a day.

As a simple report doesn't really carry all the information needed, this thread will serve as a reference for all my reports given their thread and their violations.

Here's the last few bumps and the timestamps on those:

October 18, 2016, 06:55:34 PM
October 18, 2016, 06:58:45 PM
October 18, 2016, 11:13:45 PM

That's 5 posts back to back in a timeframe of under 24 hours. The next bump comes only 3 hours later.
October 19, 2016, 09:27:56 PM
A little break of ~23 hours, let's not be too thight knit here, that's ok.

And here is their signature campaign started just today (http://archive.is/ydHEJ).
Amount Scammed: Hard to put numbers to intellectual property, but this is about principles.
Payment Method/Proof of Payment/PM/Chat Logs:: None.
Additional Notes: Comparison

Update: girl btc and I were abled to find a solution that works for both sides. While the initial situation didn't change, I'm OK with the outcome as of now and won't hold it against them, hence I removed my rating.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / MOVED: [Opair] Signature Campaign - 6 Week bounty pool! on: August 26, 2016, 08:13:41 AM
This topic has been moved to Services, as that is a more fitting section for a signature campaign paying their participants wtih BTC.

I had contacted Cyrus about their move earlier, but haven't received any answer yet.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / MOVED: [Opair] Signature Campaign - 6 Week bounty pool! on: August 20, 2016, 10:55:11 PM
The payment of this campaign has changed to be made in BTC directly, as a result, I have moved it to Services, where it should fit better, given the updated situation.

19  Economy / Reputation / OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 18, 2016, 09:53:56 PM
It saddens me that I feel the need to write this thread. What you're seeing right here is the result of a conflict that has been going on for way too long now.
A conflict which I never intended to, and one which I did everything remotely possible to avoid, but frankly, no matter how hard I tried, it failed.
Taking things out in public isn't normally my way, but hands down, I tried sorting this out, over and over again, and this is the last option I see for myself.

Everything began a few days ago, when out of the blue I was contacted by OgNasty about their current struggles with TwitchySeal/game-protect/et al.
Their messages included vague threats in my direction ("I am disappointed with you and while I move slowly, I cut deep."), aswell as a lot of stuff that did not make sense to me.
I was shocked and confused, it seemed like a big misunderstanding to me. A full transcript of the first night can be found here -> https://i.snag.gy/ro4AOi.jpg
(This is 100% authentic information, which can be confirmed by trusted members.)

I immediately contacted a few guys to try help me putting any sense to it and consulted several members of staff about this, as I wanted to know what exactly was going down.
None had any idea about what was happening or what exactly OgNasty was talking about.

As time passed by, I realized that OgNasty believes I'm the person in control of the accounts TwitchySeal, game-protect, aswell as some others.
A believe which is not only wrong, but also backed up by no evidence whatsoever. Theymos came in on the situation.
They can confirm that there are no IP evidences connecting me to either of these accounts and that there's no further reason to believe I am connected to any of them in any given way.

Meanwhile, OgNasty was looking into ways to release my address on the forum. An address they got for shipping purposes (I've ordered coins a few time from them) and further, an address that has nothing to do on this forum or in public in general. I'm shocked they even tried getting the allowance to do so. To me, that's been a major brech of trust I gave them when trading with them.

Further, one night, without me around, they've had the following conversation in the #cryptocurrency-collectors channel (FreeNode/Slack), which started with the words "<ognasty> @lutpin: Really should kill himself."

Code:
<Slck><ognasty> @lutpin: Really should kill himself.
<Anduck>ognasty wtf?
<Anduck>you seriously just said that lutpin should kill himself?
<Slck><ognasty> I'm tired of the harassment.
<Slck><ognasty> Every day a new alt...  I'm done with it.
<Slck><ognasty> All because he's mad I'm getting paid for my signature...
<Slck><ognasty> No amount of harassment will change it, yet he won't stop.
<Slck><ognasty> I'm not going to put up with another two weeks of this.
<Anduck>shutdown the computer = no more harassing
<Slck><ognasty> Shutting down the computer doesn't stop them from making threads and leaving BS trust posts.
<Anduck>WoT is there for a reason
<Slck><ognasty> WoT is useless...
<Anduck>so your WoT/account is worth more than lutpin life?
<Anduck>good to know
<Slck><ognasty> Same bullshit alt games there too.... Mircea Popescu has like 25 different WoT alts.... lol
<Anduck>name them
<Slck><ognasty> No, I think people who harass others should kill themselves.
<Slck><ognasty> Lutpin is being a piece of shit for some reason...
<Slck><ognasty> If someone was harassing you repeatedly, I wouldn't stick up for them...
<Slck><miffman> Og, you can obviously say whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. Do keep in mind that this is a public forum though. Anything that gets said here is pretty much here forever.
<Slck><ognasty> Dude is out of line.  You can try and blame the victim all you want.  I'm not going to silence myself merely because other people hide their comments behind alt accounts.
<Slck><ognasty> This is me saying I don't need an alt account to voice my opinion, and these people like Lutpin who anonymously attack people to try and get their way are the scum of the internet.
<Slck><ognasty> Not to mention they have no balls.
<Anduck>or maybe you're currently harassing lutpin publicly while some anonymous, as you said, is harassing you
<Slck><ognasty> or maybe I actually know what I'm talking about...
<hybridsole>guys, this isn't #bitcointalk-drama
<Slck><ognasty> I know it's always easier to assume people are stupid, but that is not the case here...
<hybridsole>please take your signature campaign stuff out of here
<Anduck>still you claim this anonymous = lutpin. are you sure of this Og?
<Anduck>*sure*
<Slck><ognasty> This is about me being harassed by a member of this chat.  Has nothing to do with my signature.  My signature is my own business.
<Slck><ognasty> I thought this was a community of intelligent individuals who wouldn't stand for this type of behavior, but obviously I was wrong.
<hybridsole>OGnasty, while that may be the case, I don't see anyone being harassed except for Lutpin right now.  And don't confuse that with me having a dog in this fight, I don't
<Slck><ognasty> Encourage extortion and stick up for people who harass others.  I'm sure that will lead to a better online community.
<Anduck>ognasty: what i've seen here is a death will against a community member here, and this community member is not you
<hybridsole>But telling someone to kill themselves isn't going to win you any sympathy points with me.
<Slck><ognasty> That's because while I'm being harassed privately, I'm responding publicy, because I do not need to hide.
<Anduck>there's simply no evidence of that lutpin is harrassing you, or is there?
<Slck><ognasty> Yes.
<Anduck>this is not about our intelligence or anything like that.
<Slck><ognasty> I have proof.
<Anduck>ok, prove it then?
<Anduck>why didn't you prove it earlier!
<Anduck>no need for guessing games when you can simply prove it.
<Slck><ognasty> I don't need to prove it to you.  I need to prove it to those wielding a ban hammer.  They're looking into my submission.
<Anduck>i am wielding a ban hammer here!
<Slck><minifrij> Anduck has control of this channel IIRC, he can ban people here
<Anduck>but, as you said Ognasty you don't need to prove me anything.
<Slck><ognasty> Indeed.
<Slck><ognasty> My reputation speaks for itself.  Lutpin's of him.
<hybridsole>proof or not, it's off-topic here. Maybe if someone scammed you for a Casascius coin, you can drag it out here. But the fact that the person you are beefing with is in this channel doesn't make it "on topic"
<Slck><ognasty> I'm voicing that I'm being harassed.  If you all want to look the other way, that is fine.
<Anduck>it's just a bit weird you ask for our help to remove Lutpin and simultaneously refuse to help with this
<Slck><ognasty> You're right.  His reputation is worthless and banning him from here or btctalk won't stop the harassment, as he's using TOR.
<Slck><ognasty> Best case scenario he's out a few satoshi's for a new account and has to wait before joining a new signature campaign.
<Anduck>but, why don't you want everyone to "know the truth"?
<Slck><ognasty> I guess I just expected that after 5 years of doing nothing but going out of my way to help nearly every active trader on bitcointalk, people can blame me as I'm being harassed repeatedly.
<Anduck>look, i'd be happy to help but so far you've refused all my attempts.
<Slck><ognasty> The truth is I'm being harassed as a result of Lutpin's displeasure at my signature advertiser.  You can believe, or not.  It makes no difference to me other than having to defend myself to you also.
<Anduck>i am not intending to attack you.
<Anduck>i am going away now, to not escalate this further. :)
<Anduck>good luck og, hope the harasser stops it soon
<Anduck>they usually do after they don't get anymore attention
<Slck><ognasty> Me too, but he won't.  I'll remove my signature at the end of the month like I said, and all the attacks will still be there.
<Slck><ognasty> I haven't posted anything about any of this on the forum either.  I merely thought this was a friendly place people wanted to know things.  You can go back to discussing coffee and rocket league now.
<Slck><minifrij> With all due respect, I can't personally understand why you're getting so worked up about it
<DeepSpace>OgNasty, I am hereby warning you to keep death threats away from these chats. That's highly inappriopate and as long as I don't see any valid evidence I really don't like you saying that kind of stuff.
(Everyone being around that night, aswell as further others, can confirm that this is a 100% authentic log of the channel and things happened like this. OgNasty wishes me to die.)

As to this day, even with theymos trying to get a hand on the situation, nothing has changed to the better, I feel no other way than going public with this situation.
This has been going on for too long, it's starting to affect my health. I want nothing else than this to stop, I had nothing to do with the people harassing you.
It has to stop, right now and right here.
20  Economy / Services / [Opair] Signature Campaign - 6 Week bounty pool! on: July 20, 2016, 06:20:51 PM
Welcome to the Opair Signature Campaign!

About Opair:

Opair stands for Open and Fair which are the two key elements the project seeks to fulfill.
- Open Project: The code and new language will be documented, open source and it will be found at Github.
- Fair Distribution: After analyzing the last ICO´s, the team realized that the distribution is not as fair as it should be. On the one hand, most of the distribution of the coins usually is in the hands of so few, that’s why we decided that 30% of the coin will be distributed old school through PoW. On the other hand, most developers don´t distribute 100% of the coins and they keep a portion (%) in their hands as background/developer and bounty funds, so opair wants to highlight that 0% will be retained by the team.

More about the opair project can be found in their
official announcement thread.

This campaign will run for a total of 1.5 months, divided into 6 weekly rounds (running from wednesday to wednesday).
The payment for each participant will be depending on their individual share of the total reward pool.
Overall, a bounty pool of 7BTC will be paid to all participants, as long as there are less than 125 participants by the end of the campaign.
However, if this campaign reaches 125 members or more, the bounty pool divided between everyone will be doubled, to a total of 14BTC to be paid.
(This addition to the rules has been made on 26/07/16 and benefits the users.)
The payments will be made in BTC and once the final stage of this campaign completes.
(Updated as of 21/08/16)

For each round they've been part of this campaign, users will receive the following shares:

Legendary: 2.5 Shares
Hero: 2 Shares
Senior/Full: 1.5 Shares
Member: 1 Shares

Users will only be eligible for a payment at the end of the campaign, if they:
- Made at least 50 constructive posts during the time they've been wearing the signature
- Are wearing the signature once the payments are made, and haven't removed it anytime since they've signed up
(modifying the signature code in any given way counts as removing, this includes adding lines to your signature that are not part of ours)
- Have neutral or positive trust on default settings all during their participation

Disclaimer:
I don't hold any funds for this campaign and I will not be issuing payments either.
My job is enrolling the participants, checking that they are eligible for a payment, calculating the shares and the payment amounts and submitting the payment information.
At this point, my job is done. The payments itself have to be issued by wasserman99, who acts as my contact in the Opair team.

Your status, aswell as all campaign participants and their currently claimed shares can be found in the spreadsheet (link in the first reply).
