21  Bitcoin / Armory / Can I use the Bitcoin Core client while running Armory? on: August 08, 2016, 08:05:05 PM
What I mean:

If I run Armory with the option to launch Bitcoin Core manually and do so, I see the interface, can operate a wallet.dat file I have there.

Could I do that, while using Armory or is it not recommended for a reason?

Thanks guys!
22  Economy / Trading Discussion / Which network is a good alternative to Google Adwords, as an advertiser? on: June 16, 2016, 05:36:42 PM
I'm trying bitmedia.io, which so far I love.
The targeting tools, the fact that they are called scammers by people running faucets  Wink
As an advertiser, I want a network with good traffic.

Can anyone share their experience with them or any other network?
Has it given you good results (conversions)?
Do they only work for bitcoin related business or IT in general as well?

Thanks.
23  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Issues creating a transaction using NBitcoin C# library on: April 22, 2016, 02:36:17 AM
Hey people, maybe somebody can help me out. Trying to create a transaction on TestNet.
I'm still learning, so I'm probably making a mistake creating the transaction by hand.

I think the problem might be the signing or the ScriptPubKey for the input. I'm getting the error "Error sending transaction: Rejected script for input 0 referencing 3f9f7e004430ffc9072afe2730b041d705af35db9be3e2b0342010364b08230c at 1.. " when trying to broadcast the hex of the Tx using https://live.blockcypher.com/btc-testnet/pushtx/
The hex is:
01000000010c23084b36102034b0e2e39bdb35af05d741b03027fe2a07c9ff3044007e9f3f01000 0001976a914b57667ec0af6f55ebe15047ac17dc1beddfe53f388acffffffff0100e6e849000000 001976a9140c41824ce507d3819b3c2c3fa89e5d9e77e8678588ac00000000

Anyway, here's the code, perhaps somebody could help out?

Code:
ExtKey _xprvKey = ExtKey.Parse("tprv8ZgxMBicQKsPdf3eLfgjbCxeGSep73nvrgA6eSRq9t4X4SoQ9DYGXeetjpbQ9qu5fd55k1VEADkre66Cfib1xD9P72qb8VzGTnC1vpVPmXV");
ExtKey extKey = _xprvKey.Derive(new KeyPath("m/0/0"));//this is the source address, the receiver of the TxIn
BitcoinSecret secret = extKey.PrivateKey.GetBitcoinSecret(Network.TestNet);

BitcoinAddress sourceAddress = BitcoinAddress.Create("mx4SSmJXaeqrDGwxWmnd6KWk68P6GjLbvf", Network.TestNet);
BitcoinAddress destAddress = BitcoinAddress.Create("mgdkszxePH9RT7C6aEbv7j3DdTXgCTwaTL", Network.TestNet);//this is m/0/1

var blockr = new BlockrTransactionRepository();
blockr.Network = Network.TestNet;
Transaction fundingTransaction =
blockr.Get("3f9f7e004430ffc9072afe2730b041d705af35db9be3e2b0342010364b08230c");
int index = 1;

var tx = new NBitcoin.Transaction();
var txIn = new TxIn(new OutPoint(fundingTransaction, index));
tx.AddInput(txIn);

var amount = new Money(1240000000, MoneyUnit.Satoshi);//total in source address is 12.5 BTC, keeping 0.1 for the fee
tx.AddOutput(amount, destAddress);
txIn.ScriptSig = sourceAddress.ScriptPubKey;
tx.Sign(secret.PrivateKey, false);
24  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / When deriving addresses from a PubKey, when to stop checking addresses for BTC? on: April 19, 2016, 07:04:14 AM
Hey people, what's up?

Let's say you are deriving the path m/0/0/.
When do you stop deriving addresses and checking their balance? Do all HD implementations (Electrum, myCelium, MultibitHD) use contiguous indexes when creating a new address?

Example, m/0/0/0, m/0/0/1, m/0/0/2.

Hope I'm being clear.

Thanks.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How to query Bitcoin Core to get the balance of an address you don't own? on: April 18, 2016, 09:15:23 PM
From what I've been checking, getreceivedbyaddress RPC command doesn't work on addresses not added in the wallet.

How can I query the whole blockchain for the balance of a list of addresses?
Bonus question, same thing but with xpub keys.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin find & recover 1.5 released. Fix corrupt wallets and recover passwords on: March 01, 2016, 05:07:52 PM
https://github.com/Alex-Jaeger/BitcoinFindAndRecover

Bitcoin find & recover is an open-source crypto currency recovery tool, that builds on top of the great btcrecover by Gurnec https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover, to help any bitcoin user to recover by themselves their lost passwords.
Supports all desktop wallets and a few mobile. Should work for most altcoins wallets, forked from the ones listed below.

Automatizes the searching for wallet files, in files existing and deleted.
It's able to recover partially corrupted MultibitHD wallets.
It also allows the user to create a password list from whatever fragments he or she remembers, to try to regain access with a lost password.
The recovered passwords are saved encrypted using AES.

Works only on Windows and requires .NET 4.0, python 2.7 and a few other prerequisites installed by the setup.

Supports:

- Armory
- Bitcoin-QT
- Bither
- Copay
- Electrum
- mSIGNA
- Multibit
- MultibitHD

## Bitcoin wallet finder

All files will be restored to a folder selected on the GUI. If you chose to recover deleted files, they'll be placed on a sub-folder called "RestoredTemp".
Different sub-folders will be created per wallet. Files copied from already existing files will have the directory structure copied as well. Those recovered from deletion will not, due to a limitation of the file system. Those will be placed on a sub-folder called "recovered", under each wallet's folder.

I based the deleted file recovery work on this great project: https://sourceforge.net/projects/kickassundelete/

## Bitcoin password recover

It's basically a GUI for btcrecover, which is very powerful. My idea was to help users work with it, by creating an interface to operate that program in a friendlier manner.
The most important thing to understand is how to create the password tokens, which are basically the different parts you remember of the password.
It allows to either try to recover all the files found by the first part of the program or only recover one file.

I've copied the most important sections of the token creation guide from btcrecover, see here:
https://github.com/Alex-Jaeger/BitcoinFindAndRecover/blob/master/Tokens.txt
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Made an open source tool to help automate wallet recovery. Works with btcrecover on: February 05, 2016, 04:16:17 AM
Hey guys!

Hope you like it. Open source and binaries available on github here:
https://github.com/PokerBeast/CryptoFinder/releases/tag/0.9-beta

Basically what it does is it helps recover any existing or deleted bitcoin wallet files on a partition in an automated fashion. Works with Armory, Multibit (HD and classic), Bitcoin-QT, Electrum and more. Searches using regex, file names and content. It allows to reconstruct a MultibitHD wallet with only a few of the wallet files, even if partially corrupted. Decided to make this tool after I had to help a friend recover a deleted Electrum wallet, which he didn't remember what it was named, nor the directory it was at (it wasn't %APPDATA%\electrum\wallets).

It's a work in progress, so any suggestions will be welcomed.
And yes, sadly it's only available for Windows. It's coded in C#, .NET 4.0. Might port it to java later.

Here's the readme:

CRYPTOFINDER

Bitcoin recovery tool. Supports all desktop wallets. It will work for most altcoins wallets, forked from the ones listed below.

Automatizes the process of searching for wallet files, both existing and deleted. Very simple to use and safe. Prevents the user from recovering to a folder on the same partition, if he's recovering deleted files. Works only on Windows and requires .NET 4.0 or above. Get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

Supports:

- Armory
- Bitcoin-QT
- Bither
- Copay
- Electrum
- mSIGNA
- Multibit
- MultibitHD

All files will be restored to a folder selected on the GUI. If you chose to recover deleted files, they'll be placed on a sub-folder called "RestoredTemp". Different sub-folders will be created per wallet. Files copied from already existing files will have the directory structure copied as well. Those recovered from deletion will not, due to a limitation of the file system. Those will be placed on a sub-folder called "recovered", under each wallet's folder.

While the program is working, it will appear to stop responding, that is normal. You can see the progress by looking at the files restored. Working on adding a GUI indicator of the progress.

I based the deleted file recovery work on this tool:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/kickassundelete/

This is still a work in progress, the code isn't pretty and the GUI is worse, but it works.

29  Bitcoin / Electrum / Updated compilation guide? on: August 08, 2015, 07:44:59 AM
Hi people.

I've been lurking for a long while. A while back I begun investigating alternative clients and found Electrum to be very interesting.
Since I want to operate with an important number of BTC, I would like to compile it from source.
I'm not able to do it, following the official guide here:
https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/tree/master/contrib/build-wine

Does anyone knows how to generate an exe for the latest version?
I've found very precise and updates guides for Multibit, but not for Electrum.
