1  Economy / Service Discussion / Track multiple watch addresses? Block explorer on: September 18, 2017, 08:47:26 PM
Hello!

I want to track multiple watch addresses for my transactions, but I can't find a block explorer that support that.

What should I use?

Thanks!
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Is bitaddress still considered safe? on: September 18, 2017, 02:29:26 PM
Hello!

Three questions:

1. My old (2-3y) paper wallets are generated with bitaddress.org, is it still considered safe? I use it on a Air-Gapped PC with ubuntu live usb stick.

2. I'm going to move funds from paperwallets (pre segwith), so I have also Bitcoin cash. Going to move it to other paper wallets. How should I move it? I guess I also need a paperwallet for my Bitcoin Cash?

3. A reserve android phone with Mycelium app installed is very temping, I can scan the private QR code and scan the receive address of the new wallet and move it?

Thanks
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Scan QR code of paper wallet? on: September 05, 2017, 10:41:12 PM
Hello!

a few questions. I don't have a webcam.

1. I'm planning to move my paper wallets to new wallets. I have a offline computer, can I some way use a old phone as a qr-scanner and import it, if the phone has no internet connection and is reset? Or do I need to type the private key manually for all the paper wallets?

Sometimes I want to scan the paper wallet to a offline air-gapped machine and import the BIP38 key and double check that it's encrypted with the correct key. But it's getting old pretty quick to manually enter the keys.

2. Would it be possible/safe to use The android Bitcoin wallet to import the old paper wallet and then move coins to a new paper wallet with my android wallet? It's encrypted BIP38.

I hope I make any sense! I appreciate any help.

4  Economy / Speculation / BTC sudden price fall? on: June 26, 2017, 06:50:39 PM

Over the past days BTC has fallen quite a bit, also ETH. Any clue why? Seems to be opportunity to buy more.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum Paper Wallet on: September 08, 2016, 02:16:48 PM
Hello!

Please bear with me, I'm just getting started. I need some guidelines.

On a air-gapped live usb machine I have generated a Paper Wallet with myetherwallet.com, downloaded from github.

First question: I used a password, generated it and printed it out. But it seems that it has printed the Private key unencrypted, do I still need the to save the password? I haven't saved the json file, I only want it on paper, is that OK?

Second Question: Do I only need the Public key and the Private key to retrieve my funds?

Third: To safely watch the balance, can I use the Public address as Bitcoin?

Thank you for any help, it would help me a lot to get this figured out.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Validate Paper Wallet on: September 08, 2016, 01:56:52 PM
Hello everyone,

I have generated a couple of Paper Wallets with Bitaddress and encrypted them with BIP38. But I'm new to this and want to make sure that I have done everything I can to not loose coins. I have taken other precautions (Air-gapped live usb)

My question is, is it possible to do a "sanity check" on a Paper Wallet, test the bip38 password without importing it to the blockchain? Anything other I should think about before sending funds to the paper wallet?

My other question, do I need to protect the public address and can I do multiple deposits to the public address?

Thank you in advance!
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / Buy BTC in USD or EUR? on: August 27, 2015, 09:38:35 AM
Hello again,

I made a small purchase on localbitcoins in SEK (my currency), I pay 241 USD for one BTC. But if I would make the transaction in USD I would pay 231 USD. Current price of Bitcoin is 221 USD.

It feels like i'm paying too much or is it normal with this kind of overhead? If I want to buy in USD I need to use perfect money and webmoney, services I've never heard of.

Best regards
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Choosing paper wallet on: August 22, 2015, 08:49:36 PM
Hello!

I am new here as you can guess Smiley. I want a cold storage that has "reasonable good" security.

There are several sites that has javascript paperwallet generators, which of these are safe? Most of them are open source, hosted at GIT.

Is a paper wallet encrypted with Bip38 safe enough to store on off site backups?

My plan is to start a clean Linux and download a generator and generate a few wallets and print them out.

I'm planning to use my phone as a hot storage device for small amounts, what's your strategy? You are the experts.

Best regards

Edit 1:

According to the "Stay Safe thread" - Don't use bitcoins on rooted phones. So I will avoid that.
