Hey guys, I have done spare cash and im thinking of buying a few antminers. Id just like to know how a pool works. Does the pool find a block, and allocate a few hash combinations to each connected miner, or is it basically each miner mining solo, except that the coinbase is split around the latter?
I think the first option would be better, as there won't be people hashing the same hashes when mining the same click :-/
Am I getting it wrong? What am I missing? Is the truth one of my listed options, or is it totally different?

Hey guys, just as the title says, what is the file size for a bitcoin? Does it vary, depending on what coin, or does the file size stay the same? I'm not talking about the size of a wallet.dat file, as those have other information kept inside. I want to know the size of the pure coin.
Does the coin change size the more it is transacted? Does the coin's size vary if I compare a bitcoin to a litecoin?

Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/
So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?

Hey guys. I understand that primedice has a huge reputation and popularity on this forum, but I really don't know why. Being from Australia, primedice doesn't allow us with a full account. We get a "free" account. We can't deposit, and we can only bet with tips. Why is this?
Are there any other countries that have this restriction? Why is this restriction in place? What's so special about primedice?

Hey guys, I've been looking at the recent stockmarket stats and have seen that NASDAQ, Dow Jones & weak street have dropped 2%... That's quite significant... Is there a reason for this? Something big is happening I feel...
And also, does this have any relation to bitcoin going up, or vice versa?

Hey guys, i was wondering how you guys got into bitcoin. Furthermore, who was the first person you saw using bitcoin, and was it them who got you hooked? Personally, my first experience with a fellow bitcoiner was when I was walking through the mall and a boy was busking for bitcoin xD
What about you?

Greetings all. I'd like to know what you would do if your bitcoin did one of the following, as I am a little confused about what I'll do myself...
What would you do if:
Bitcoin hit $1,000,000: Bitcoin hit $1,000 again: Bitcoin stayed where it was: Bitcoin became worthless, or a few cents: And which of these do you think is most probable?
Thanks for your opinions,
-Lags

Hey guys, i'd like to know if there was a sort of a list of spam bots, so I could block them, or mods could use this list for other reasons. I've seen a few dodgy and irrelevant posts before, there's bound to be more.

Hey guys, im looking for a way I can track a single bitcoin, in who currently owns it, and what address it has been sent to, etc. This would be alot more helpful in understanding how a site's system works.

Hey all. As the title says, what's the highest ever wager that has been made on an online bitcoin casino? (E.g. primedice, crypto-games, etc.)
Does anyone know if that better has a bitcointalk account? I'd like to see if he/she is a donator :3

As the title asks, is it possible to guess a privkey/generate an existing wallet's privkey? I'm quite interested about how mining for a bitcoin address works. Is it kind of the same thing as mining a block, guessing combinations of numbers and letters (the privkey) to unlock the code (wallet address), or is it some other kind of algorithm?
I've used vanity miner before, and I've tried guessing an existing address, but according do vanitygen, it takes more than a billion years on average to solve. Assuming I was lucky enough to mine the exact same address, could I get the privkey?

I'm wondering, if we could make a coin that has the same workings as bitcoin, except with each halving the block reward is only decreased by 25%. If we make it so there is an amount of premined coins that is equal to the amount in existence currently, we can make a service to convert bitcoin to this altcoin, to get a better mining community and an easy transition to a new altcoin.

Hey guys, sorry if this is a nooby question. Recently a bunch of friends have said that investing in a ponzi is illegal. I've stayed clear of hyips and ponzis ever since. But bitcointalk has its own section basically dedicated to ponzis, how is it illegal?
Am I missing something, is investing in a ponzi illegal just in my jurisdiction, or are people just investing anonymously, so we can't find out who they are?

So, everyone knows that there will be no more block rewards when we reach ~2140. But what do you guys think will happen after?
I personally visualise 2 possibilities:
- Bitcoin is already widely adopted, so the giant community will keep the system running and functioning. Maybe not as easily as today, but with a big enough community, the transaction fees will be high enough for miners to keep on doing their thing.
-Bitcoin has a small community, much like today, and starts to crumble without support of miners, and mining fees will become huge, and so the users will leave. Bitcoins will be left in the transaction pool, and the Bitcoin ecosystem will come to a halt.
Are there any possibilities I might have missed? What do you guys think?

Hey guys, I'm looking for an active and up to date eSports thread prediction thread.
I'm interested in being on CSGO teams, but I have a bad history. I also want to know the teams better, I don't really trust gosugamers.com...
