Keyword Pre Sale FAQ

There seems to be a debate around value of keywords and since I have spent two years thinking on the subject like to share my point of view.

1.  Will all keywords in pre-sale be sold @ .4 BTC?
Answer : No, All Keywords are not the same and cannot have same value so we will pre-sale keywords at different price points.

2. Why will Keywords be valued differently?
Answer : If value and income of keyword is derived from number of searches each keyword receives, than people are likely to buy words that get searched more first.

3. How to value a keyword?
Answer: If a keyword lets say "Bitcoin" earns 50$ a year from the pool and another user finds 10% return per annum good proposition he could value it at 500$. Exact value could be matter of negotiation between two individuals based on factors such as revenue growth or sudden massive interest in keyword search.

4. How will SearchTrade community Pool make Money?

A. Keyword Presale B. Ad Revenue C. Keyword trading commision D. Keyword renewal fee

Answer : We will be integrating third party ad programs to start with and also simultaneously add our own ad program. Our hope is as traffic increases our dependence on third party ad program will reduce and people will buying ads directly from us. Other than that whenever two people trade keywords community pool will charge a commission from buyer that will also be added to the pool. All keywords licenses have to be renewed once a year since we cannot technically sell a keyword as per law. That income too gets added to the pool. Every first sale of keyword goes into pool as well.

Other than this if we are able to identify any other source of income in future we will add that to pool as well.

5. How does Searchtrade make money?
Answer :  Searchtrade the company only gets paid when people make a search since it too is recipient from the pool. So if pool calculates payout of 100 Satoshi's on a particular search than ST will get 25% or 25 satoshi's. We will use this money to both build and maintain the platform and hopefully turn some profit after that.

6. Why payout is not linked to income generated from specific word?
Answer : System is built to prioritize number of searches on each keyword and not ad revenue they generate. For instance Word "Finance" may bring in more revenue but words "What" "where" and "why" maybe used more often as part of search.

The reason we have done this because of regulatory and legal issues since the license we issue on keywords cannot be seen as directly being monetized by owner. As it would imply that searchtrade and its user are directly monetizing IP of other people and businesses.

We have done a lot of thinking on this and there still might be area's where we can improve but we are open to learning and improving the product. We have already invested a lot on this project in terms of time, money, effort and sleep over past year and a half. How does it work?

Platform collects all revenue from : Ad Sales, Keyword Trading Commission, Renewal Fees, Affiliate income and pushes it into Searchtrade Community Pool. From there pool will track average income per search that platform is able to generate every 24hrs and decide what average payout per search should be. The cycle of pool calculating payout will have to reduce over period of time with increase in traffic so as to ensure pool never runs out of money.

That way income generated from Keyword sale to advertiser and Income distributed to keyword owner is de-linked from each other.

At launch we will use btc collected from presale to give payout. lets say @ 400 satoshis per search. Which means each stake holder Search User, Keyword owner, App Developer and Searchtrade itself will get 100 Satoshi's to begin with. Post this as traffic increases and we start generating ad income along with other sources of income we switch system to auto decide payout based on algorithm defined above.

General confusion and questions.

A. Are we a ponzi scheme or genuine there is no way to judge intentions.

B. We have been working on this since year and a half and have built team of 15 odd developers and adding more now to expand team to 30.

C. Payout alters on a simple math that will evolve over time to keep pool profitable at all times.
i.e Total searches devided by total income = payout ( 24hr cycle to start with but will reduce payout cycle as time goes by )

D. Keyword Pre-sale prices will reduce 10% after every sale since all keywords cant make same amount of money and it would be common sense that people buying first will target best keywords.

E. Funds that we have collected get scattered in multiple wallets to protect both us and our users from attacks. We take fund safety seriously.

F. Keywords owners can trade keywords with each other so trade-able value of keyword could be higher than actual income it makes. E.G. if Word bitcoin had earning of 100$ a year it could be traded in multiples of 10 and be valued at 1000$ as it would imply 10% return on investment.

G. I have 16 years of work experience and last thing I have on mind is to take money and run. Believe me I make more than that.

Singapore based Search Engine startup SearchTrade recently raised over 200 BTC in a rapid 7-day presale of their keywords. The start-up focuses on decentralizing the search engine revenue model by incentivizing its users with bitcoin for each search.

Indian startup SearchTrade is looking to change how the Internet functions today by rewarding people with bitcoin for their time spent using search engines.

The team led by Vishal Gupta, who aims to create the first completely decentralized and equitable search based ad network. SearchTrade enables users to partake in the community revenue pool, which consists of revenue generated by the network.

In addition, by giving users the ability to purchase keywords like assets, owners of these keywords sold by the network stand to benefit much like Google does from every search involving their keyword asset.

So far, the startup has sold 507 keywords at 0.4 BTC each and has raised 202.8 BTC at press time. The most popular keywords sold being “porn”, “sex” and “news.”

A new startup – SearchTrade, armed with a simple but ground-breaking concept is looking to change the way we use the most widely used resource on the internet – the search engine.

At the time of writing this, the startup is currently gearing itself for the launch of its search platform in 85 days.

The Concept – a Fully Realized, Rewarding Search Engine

Keywords As An Asset Class?

SearchTrade will collect revenue they get from advertisers, but it will be redistributed among the users within the network. Keyword owners will earn bitcoins every time another user searches for their keyword within SearchTrade's network of search engines. This opens up an entirely new investment opportunity for those willing to take the risk that the network will grow.

"Search is the single most important activity on the internet. Everyone does it, every day. Search drives far more traffic than any social network or viral news site, and it makes a ton of money. On Reaching Critical Mass

At time of print, SearchTrade has sold 481 keywords. Many of the words that have been sold in the pre-sale could potentially generate a lot of traffic leading to a decent payout for the owners.

SearchTrade is seeking developers to build hundreds of apps that include its search facilities. About a quarter of the revenue is shared among these developers. A limit of 40 searches per day has been implemented to deter "click farms" and there are also limits on individual IP addresses to prevent fraud.

If user tracking isn’t your cup of tea, ethical search engine duckduckgo, which doesn’t track any its users, recently witnessed surges of 600% in direct searches and is on track to do 3 billion searches this year.

However, two entrepreneurs from India, Vishal Gupta and Rashmit Gupta argue that in most cases the innovation has been at the front end of the user experience. The most exciting piece of the pie, i.e. the revenue model, is still up for grabs. This is something they hope to change through their startup SearchTrade.

SearchTrade looks to reward users for their time spent searching for information on search engines. The plan is to incentivize the user with satoshis every time a keyword is entered. Where it gets interesting is that the user is also able to join in the network’s revenue pool by purchasing keywords as though it were assets. Once purchased, these keywords would then create revenue for the investor on every search generated involving the word throughout the network.

Gupta:

SearchTrade is set to launch in 107 days and has already generated a fan following by raising 91 BTC during a recent keyword presale.

So the question is, can you become a millionaire by spending more time searching for stuff on Google? It seems certain that in a world where Google’s ad revenue is now larger than that of the entire U.S. printing industry and startups like SearchTrade attempting to an create an even distribution, the question may be answered sooner than we expect.
