Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why different algorithms?
|
on: May 21, 2018, 02:21:10 PM
|
Whenever I try to do a search on why different algorithms are used for various coins I am having a tough time coming to any substantial conclusions. It seems apparent that there are a few coins or projects that are steadfast in their Anti-ASIC stance, so this would be an explanation for a minority of the market. What are the benefits or faults of each algorithm and what makes the developers of a coin decide upon a particular algorithm for the protocol to operate with? It seems frivolous, please help me understand.

Hello everyone, I successfully sold my Xbox 360 on this forum awhile back and I am seeking to sell the rest of the add-ons that I still have laying around! I don't have any specific price points and I'm pretty negotiable/reasonable so post/pm an offer on anything you want! Accepting BTC and some alt-coins. Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you soon. Open to Trades as well!

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / What do you do with your "failed" coins?
|
on: May 08, 2018, 05:44:07 PM
|
I'll keep it short and sweet. I have a few thousand coins, of various different project that I thought were going to catch fire and never did. They are only worth pennies, or less than that per coin, so at this point the projects look almost completely dead. There is no trade volume, barely listed on any exchanges and the ICOs were mostly a flop.
So I'm wondering what do you guys do in these situations? I've just been holding onto the coins hoping for a skyrocket pump, or a change in development that will cause adoption to a significant degree. Do I continue to hold the coin or do I throw it down a well? I know it seems like I probably should just hold onto it, but is it even worth the hard drive space to save the keys and information to maintain these coins?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / ASIC + Air Conditioning = Safe?
|
on: May 06, 2018, 08:58:14 PM
|
I've recently started mining and I'm adding more and more equipment to my small mining operation. There are high end GPUs and high end ASIC machines running pretty constantly. The room is slowly gaining temperature as I add more pieces of hardware, this is to be expected because of CFM and all of that. I'm wondering if there are any simple ways to combat this heat increase that are also financially painless. Can I add an Air Conditioning unit to the room or does the method of cooling add too much moisture into the air? Would I be able to combat that moisture with a dehumidifier? How much help would leaving a window open do?

Other / Meta / Merit Bounties
|
on: February 04, 2018, 02:13:58 AM
|
I was just scrolling around Meta, reading about the new merit system and I am seeing so many negative posts complaining about the system that is meant to really improve things around here. I personally am digging the new changes and seeing all of these people uncomfortable just tells me that there is great change occurring.
While I see there are a few threads where users are throwing around their merit to worthy posts, there is still a valid concern about there being a lack of merit to be distributed in relation to how many high-quality posts truly get put out each day by members nobody recognizes. Now this will of course get remedied over time as more merit sources are created and more generous users accumulate merit in their own hands.
However I have a proposal to get the juices flowing and ease some of the fears about distribution. It does not seem to be the world's biggest secret who a few of the merit sources are (Lutpin, for example), and there are many other users with a ton of merit to go around. My proposal is a contest of sorts; we could have users enter their posts or their profiles and after a given amount of time (or every so often) there is/are winner(s) chosen to receive a merit reward. Meaning the greatest poster(s) every week or so would be given a Merit Bounty for their high-quality, significant or contributory posts; preferably from public Merit sources or a pool or merit generated from willing participants around the community.
I'm very interested in thoughts on developing this further, volunteers, contrarians and merit sources are needed. I don't know how you all feel about this, so let me know how you feel; let me know if I've even explained this well enough for you to make up your mind. The parameters are negotiable and discuss-able, but I just have the basic framework and a few different routes/options to play with.

Vouch Copies Available! -RemainingVouch Copies Handed-Out - (1) dothebeats (Review Below!!) Pictures are here: http://imgur.com/a/V19W6At first glance, a newbie posting a service involving a credit card in the Services section would probably be deemed as a scam or the OP is probably using a hacked credit card, you might say. But the OP, EthanB, has somehow proved some legitimacy on his offered service. While we were conversing about the vouch I would like to have, I'm noting how would he handle such a situation wherein he could probably have some problems (I actually tried to see if he will try to do something fishy by means of ordering on a closed restaurant that doesn't accept online payments.) After a couple of minutes, he returns to me, sending me a screenshot that he already made an order. https://gyazo.com/efa4cf6b1c795df31b8b8420906a6617Because the order couldn't be processed because the restaurant that I've ordered to was lacking an online payment service. I was waiting for him to let me 'pay for the vouch' even with a big discount because it was already on my way but he didn't. A couple of minutes again passed and he received an email regarding the order that he made, stating that it has been on-hold. Tired, I bade him goodbye and told him that we will try to do the order tomorrow. -- Today, I was browsing bitcointalk for hours and just waiting for him to send me a pm. He didn't, so I sent him a message stating that I am ready to try it again and see if it will get completed this time. Well we went again to the same service that I know doesn't accept online payments, but this time I told EthanB that I talked to their support stating that they aren't accepting online payments that's why my order got hold. I was expecting him to rage and start acting weird, but he doesn't. He kept his cool and asked me if there are still some restaurants that I want to order food to, and I said there is one, and that is KFC. So I told him to order something just to meet the minimum order required to complete the online transaction, and that is worth $5. He told me that everything is set, and just wait on the delivery to arrive. Everything arrived as promised. To sum it up, OP delivers, and I got this meal for free. Also, upon calling the hotline of KFC, I asked the name of who paid the meal, and turns out it isn't a hacked credit card (the CC holder name was the same as the first one he used at the restaurant that didn't accept online payments. I called both restaurant to confirm about it.) In using his service, I have experienced some things: -He will keep you entertained for the duration of your transaction with him, -He'd be sure that you'll get what you want, and if the option isn't available, he'd be happy to wait for hours until the customer arrives with their needs. -There are still many problems he encountered in taking an order. Take for example the time on until when will a restaurant be open for online payment. To be able to perform being a middleman between restaurants and customers who wants to avail foods at their terms, the middleman should be familiar with all the things necessary in setting up a transaction smoothly and fast. Last note, before making your first transaction with this guy, be sure that you know what you're doing. Use a trusted and reputable escrow in doing deals with him, especially if a deal involves large amount of money. Use your due diligence, people. Though OP delivered, chances are he can still pull out some fishy tricks, though I highly doubt that one. All in all, I had fun utilizing his service. Thanks, EthanB for the free meal. Payment-Accepted : BTC and prominent alt-coins

Hello everyone; I've been PMing a few members around here selling accounts and I'm in the market for a high-potential account. I strictly will be using it for signature-campaign earnings and I will be contacting everyone that left the account positive feedback to have it removed so that there is no trust discrepancies. I will not be doing any transactions on my newly bought account; I will keep all deals on this account.
I am not interested in Negative trust accounts, and preferably 400+ potential activity.
PM me offers or post below.
We will be using escrow, but I will tip the escrow happily.

Hello, I have a very successful trading method that's been working nicely on the nadex platform. I am wondering if anyone trades Forex, or Nadex and would be interested in Daily signals? The Win-Rate has been 90%, and Risk is extremely low with my method of trading. For example, I was incorrect about the direction of a trade on wednesday, however I still profited $1 on the trade. Past results (Updated-Through September 16th, as I haven't inputted my trades from this week yet) : https://gyazo.com/543abee1e6ecc418dc255e70a8c55a60I have been able to steadily increase my account balance 30%-40% weekly off of just one-trade a day. That's only a few clicks. If there is any interest in this service, how much would be a fair price to charge for daily signals, full skype support, and refunds if even ONE week was not profitable out of a month.
