21  Bitcoin / Armory / BDM error? on: March 01, 2015, 07:56:31 PM
I upgraded the bitcoin engine to the latest and armory also. I selected to re-scan everything when it asked me when I started the Armory. The next day I ran Armory and kept getting this BDM error indicating it needs to scan the DB again if it keeps happening. Sure enough I had to re-scan again. Has anyone come into this problem?

Windows 8 64bit. 8GB RAM.

23  Economy / Computer hardware / 2 KNC mining rigs for sale... on: November 29, 2014, 08:36:16 AM
These were originally Mercury's but were upgraded with new modules. They each run stable and consistent at 550-560GH/s and pull around I think around 750watts. It has been so long I checked, that could be off 50 watts either way. Both have been taken care of, cleaned daily and not modified whatsoever. If you are interested, please let me know. I am in NJ, so a pickup would be very easy since it is a pain to ship something like this.

Thanks,

Michael

24  Economy / Service Discussion / What's up with the network? on: November 13, 2014, 05:48:41 AM
Blockchain.info down and even blockexplorer.com was down. I have 4 payments sitting with no confirmations for over 2 hours now and things just don't seem right. I sure hope there isn't a take over happening now. I never saw the network act so random and odd.

It is 1am EST in the US.

25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Unconfirmed transactions for over an hour now... on: October 07, 2014, 09:26:08 PM
Anyone else seeing this? Blockchain DOES indicate a fee was added, so it should go through. It never took an hour for 1 confirmation, unless the hackers are at it again.
26  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / The mining process...to buy or not to buy..... on: July 05, 2014, 02:44:35 AM
Let's say I'm at a point where all my mining hardware is paid off already and any new bitcoins I make is just profit going forward. Lets say some of you long time miners are in this situation. Now you are looking around to buy some new hardware. Nothing big, just something to keep you busy. Lets just say you can get a 1TH/S rig for a decent price and have it by next week. Of course the machine will never ROI or break even as they say but you are adding it to your current hashing power and if you take all that hashing power eventually that new rig will break even. Do some of you guys do that? Rely of your current hashing power to pay off new hardware that you buy and may have trouble breaking even?

27  Bitcoin / Armory / No download links off Armory website? on: June 27, 2014, 03:14:58 PM
Trying to download Armory and I visit the website but there are no download links to download anything. I'm using Windows. Are that's there is some command line information about Linux. Were the links removed for some reason?

28  Bitcoin / Pools / Ghash having their typical problems again... on: May 29, 2014, 08:06:57 AM
Multiple disconnects on a daily basis again, which is havoc on my miners. You'd think by now they would have the tiger by the balls and have all this stuff straightened out by now.

I can only connect to the UK server again, same issue as last week.
29  Bitcoin / Pools / GHASH seems to be down on: May 13, 2014, 05:57:05 PM
Haven't been able to connect for about 40 minutes. Anyone else?

I can connect to other pools very quickly and hash right away....seems to be related only to GHASH for now. Hey, at least my little alert  script I wrote worked!

30  Bitcoin / Pools / Went from BTCGuild to Ghash and doing a slightly better.... on: April 12, 2014, 04:03:27 AM
Unfortunately my post was moderated in the Guild thread so I may as well speak it here for everyone to read now.  It was deleted, and all it was :

"Most users are glad I'm not pooling here anymore but been doing excellent on Ghash since I connected. Instead of .04, I'll get .06. Every little bit counts. And they seem to be sucking as many shares as they possibly can. End up having to do a little math if you want daily numbers, but its worth it for now."

I guess just mentioning another competitive pool makes people nervous and really don't like open, free, comments or opinions. The Guild had to lower their fee anyway since I guess when you are losing hashing power you have to entice users somehow. People are greedy, plain and simple. I was such a small apple in the grand scheme of things on the Guild I wouldn't even consider they would take the energy to moderate my post. Yea, I'm getting a better return on Ghash, don't love the interface or anything but when you are running a tiny little rig like I am, every counts.

So, if this is a real community and people's opinion's and statements are truly taken then awesome! Just wanted to let people know since I was confronted with a lot of that entitlement nose in the air attitude. Little 580Gh/s can't ask a layman question in an elite pool group like that or even speak with someone running over 5Th/s. Not allowed, be aware!

31  Bitcoin / Armory / Asks the question, but what now??? on: April 11, 2014, 02:59:11 PM
I upgraded the bitcoinQT to the latest which completely killed Armory. I should have just figured it would do that since it is such a sensitive program. Now I can't get it to run without this error in my face

 Corrupted block database detected.
Do you want to rebuild the block database now?

It gives me no option for a YES or NO. I even selected 'rebuild and rescan databases' under the help option. What are my options here to avoid a 6 hour rebuild, anything? Do I have to uninstall the entire program now and reinstall it or something?
32  Economy / Speculation / So, how low will it go? on: April 11, 2014, 03:53:42 AM
$200? $100? Back into double digits? I'd like to see it drop down to double digits for a while to weed out these large companies are pretty much useless.
33  Economy / Service Discussion / Selling coin for a money order? on: April 06, 2014, 09:13:10 PM
Are there any exchanges that let you sell bitcoin for a money order or certified bank check? I've already tried CampBX and lost a ton of money using their services and it took more then 4 months just to get a little money from them so they are out of the question.
34  Economy / Speculation / Doubts about bitcoin these days... on: March 06, 2014, 11:28:01 AM
I finally had the thought today that in my opinion I don't think bitcoin can or will survive. Every day I hear news about exchanges being hacked, sites being taken down, coin being stolen on a daily basis day in and day out. Then Flexcoin shutdown right after Mt.Gox melt down. It almost makes our US banking industry look good. When do you have US banks getting hacked then closing down the next day? Then in that same day you'll most likely never see your bitcoin again, never to cash out on them. These aren't little players here, these are big players in the game....making huge waves. When ALL the news coming from the bitcoin industry is negative, where ever you read I just don't see how it could ever bounce back from where it once was.

When I got into bitcoin all I heard how safe it was, the encryption protects it, blah blah blah. It doesn't matter. Encryption or not, this crypto currency is more prone to being stolen then anything. I can't scour the forums all day, but when I do have the time to read, so many times I hear about coin being stolen from accounts, exchanges not paying people, etc, it just doesn't end.

I really do hate out US banking industries, but I also never had $1 stolen from me or worry about it. And money these days aren't really "money". They're just bits and bytes on a computer somewhere. I barely handle money itself anymore so it almost seems just like bitcoin to begin with, but without all the hacks and banks melting away all the time.

Soon as an exchange gets enough bitcoin you just are bound to hear soon it will be hacked or taken down for some reason. It's basically a way for the site operator(s) to scam people. We've seen it all too often here and it doesn't look like it will ever stop. Why? Because there are no consequences for anyone's actions. Steal as many bitcoin as you want, may get a slap on the wrist.

Even on the dark net, the ultimate drug selling site was so called "hacked" too, losing all their bitcoin that was in escrow. Everyone lost their coin. So here we have it. Legit or legal bitcoin related sites being hacked on a daily basis, being taken down on a daily basis and just leaving the trusting bitcoin community not what to think. I know there will be those die hard bitcoiner's out there that will defend bitcoin until they die, but if you just open your eyes a little bit and see what's going on it doesn't look good.

Apparently the bitcoin industry attracts the scum of the earth and unfortunately that's the way it will be viewed for years to come. The only people investing into the bitcoin community right now are only here to make massive amounts of money for themselves. Thery're not here to support the community or be part of something. It will only be a matter of time we'll see another news article or report on another exchange (any left?) going down or a large mass of coins being stolen again. Yep, bitcoin is in BETA and I think should basically stay that way.
35  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin fat pigs... on: February 24, 2014, 11:54:51 PM
Why do all these greedy ass bastards have to ruin this industry? Charles Shrem another fat pig trying to steal money got caught. Why in the world is that guy even allowed to use a computer? When a computer hacker gets caught and charges stick they aren't even allowed near a computer. Why are these fat pigs even allowed near the bitcoin industry? Then of course the fat pig, Karpele's. There's no doubt in my mind if you do a little investigative work you'll be certain to find out he's been stealing as well. These fat pigs shouldn't be allowed to even buy or sell a bitcoin or even come close to the blockchain. It just gets real tiring to hear and see the shit that goes on here. And even today I hear about people trying to buy bitcoin at Mt.Gox. People, stop being such greedy bastards. I really hope you lose all your money and never get your bitcoin. FAT PIGS really deserve to die and a little slap on the wrist isn't really going to help. These fat pigs think they deserve to be rich, putting in their lousy 5 years into the industry. Please, try working for a living and make your money an honest way. All fat pigs must die, seriously.

I'm real curious as to how many bitcoins people actually had in their GOX accounts? They've only had issues for several years now, so I guess you can't blame GOX completely if people lose their money. They did have a long ass time to cash out 2 years ago. How many chances do you actually give a company before you say NO MORE?

36  Economy / Service Discussion / Why is MT. GOX selling at $300? on: February 19, 2014, 08:35:50 PM
Is Mt.Gox selling so low right now so they pad their pockets and have your buy order fail and basically steal your money? The only reason I can see an exchange selling at such a low price is that they are counting on failing most of the purchases to take your money and really never give you your bitcoin to begin with. Too good to be true really applies here. Maybe they are only processing %10 of the buys and then %90 stealing everyone's money? How else can be so cheap?

37  Bitcoin / Armory / 2 databases? on: February 19, 2014, 07:38:07 PM
Does Armory need both huge databases? The original bitcoinD's database, and Armory's itself? I think both combined comes to about 60GB of data.

Delete please.
38  Bitcoin / Armory / Paper backup test not working.... [resolved] on: February 18, 2014, 01:40:41 AM
I made a paper backup of my wallet and did the built in test and it kept failing. I must have typed out the root key letters a million times and it does not pass. It comes up with a completely different wallet. There really is only one way to type in all the letters. Just go across the page. In the first field type in the sets of letters, all nine of them and do the same into the second field. I've tried many times and it just keeps failing. Is this a known bug or something? I'm very glad I didn't dispose of any of my digital backups.

Also, is the Armory *.wallet file that Armory uses when running, is that encrypted at all itself? If not then anyone can just copy that file and import it, right? Is there a way to encrypt that file while Armory is running?

39  Economy / Service Discussion / What do you do if you have A LOT of bitcoin? on: February 16, 2014, 03:18:42 PM
I've wanted to ask this question, but didn't know how to word it. So I'll give it by best shot. If you are planning your retirement or just planning in eventually "cashing in" the large amount of bitcoin you've saved up over the years since I suspect some people have very large amounts and will use that worth later on how are going to exchange all that for real money? Because right now, you still need real money to pay the bills, buy a Whopper at Burger King. While there are some places that purchase goods for you and then you pay them with bitcoin, it is not a real thing in today's world. Right now if I had the option of receiving just as an example $100,000 in USD money or $100,000 worth in bitcoin I would take the money. I even have issues just cashing out $1000 or less with the exchanges we have today and they do just stop operating at any given time. You might be bitcoin rich, but if you can't get it exchanged for the currency of your country, what do you do?
40  Economy / Service Discussion / CampBX is like being GOXED now on: February 05, 2014, 03:36:27 PM
CampBX has held my money hostage for weeks now. Amazing how a company can get away with doing this. Bitcoin was sent there, I sold the bitcoin and then had it transferred via ACH into my checking account. Well that never worked since their ACH system is broken. After 2 weeks CampBX finally funded my account with USD funds which is a pain in the ass because you can't even buy bitcoin on there to send it out. I placed an order to buy bitcoin on there for about %30 less then what the current rate was and no one wanted it. CampBX is backing you into a corner and supply you with no options to get your money out. The only option available is a USPS Money Order in which they charge you $20. I have selected that option to and willing to take the loss on this one. This is one company I'll never use again or recommend at all.
