Hey everyone,

So I have been selling on LocalBitcoins.com for a while now and figured I'd share my info with my favorite forum Smiley

We want to expand our userbase to the great people here but we like the safety and security (and escrow) offered by LocalBitcoins.

Unless you give first or arrange escrow through a well known Bitcointalk member, all trades will occur on LocalBitcoins.com using their escrow service.

This is just a description of our methods and limits. Our margin is between 3% and 9% depending on the method of payment (LBC takes 1% from this).

10  Bitcoin / Mining support / S7 Beeper Disable on: October 29, 2015, 09:08:36 AM
I'm using an S7 for home mining. Today (at 3am) I noticed that the S7 will beep if there is no internet connection.

My issue: if my internet goes down there's nothing I can do, I'd prefer the S7 to just STFU and start mining once an internet connection is available again.

Is there any way to fully disable the S7 beeper?
11  Economy / Service Discussion / Hashnest old PACMiCs coming back into service? on: October 17, 2015, 10:56:34 PM
With the Antminer S2 sitting at 103.38% maintenance/payout we could see old contracts being dusted off in the coming days. From my calculations, any price above $279USD at the current difficulty should be profitable.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PACMiC v4 is now advertising as S7 backed on: October 16, 2015, 06:52:47 AM

Q:Is the PACMiC really risk-free?

A: Like all forms of bitcoin mining, there is a certain level of risk involved. If network difficulty unforeseeably skyrockets, or if the price of bitcoin drops too much, the Antminer S7 units backing the PACMiC may not be profitable to run and be forced to go offline, in which case contracts would be suspended (possibly indefinitely) and the user may not recover the initial cost of the miner. However, the AntMiner S7 is currently the most power efficient bitcoin miner available on the market, and would be among the last to be forced to power down under unfavorable market circumstances. It is our comprehensive evaluation that the likelihood of PACMiC holders not recovering their initial cost is indeed quite low. We ask that all users please understand the risks inherent to any sort of bitcoin mining, and also to understand that there is no such thing as a risk-free product.

It looks like they have updated the PACMiC v4 to be backed by S7. I'm pretty sure on release it appeared to be backed by S5.

Does anyone know if the S5 wording was in error?

What happens to previous buyers of PACMiC v4? Do they have backing from S7 or S5?

It's not like Bitmain to fuck something up like this.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Can I get a transaction out of limbo with a high fee transaction from change? on: October 15, 2015, 03:22:15 AM
So I made a 0.0006 transfer (225 bytes) with a fee of 225 satoshi using Bitcoin Core. The transaction has already been discarded from the blockchain.info mempool and I'd prefer to cancel the transaction anyway.

Will placing a new transaction from the change address with fees high enough to cover both transactions cause miners to pick up both?

Other simple suggestions for deleting the transactions would be appreciated as well. I've tried pywallet but it is appears to be no longer maintained.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / What's the best (cheapest) website to buy bitcoin in Canada on: October 13, 2015, 07:56:23 PM
I've been looking at places to buy BTC from a Canadian bank account but it seems every site is riddled with fees in one way or another.

Virwox is more than 10% fee https://caktux.ca/virwox
LocalBitCoins is normally about 3-5% fee
Cavirtex charges a 0.8% fee for trades but also $7.50 to deposit fiat and $10 to withdraw fiat

I feel like I've looked for so many sites but none of them really work.

Ideally I'd love to find a place to buy BTC for around 1% above spot including deposit in fiat and withdrawal in BTC. Has anyone heard of a good place?
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / SCAMBASE is at it again on: October 13, 2015, 07:38:03 PM
So it seems Coinbase is having MORE problems with their system in the last day.

Many users who have money on the site are being sent through a redirect loop after a screen which (incorrectly) claims that their profile is incomplete and restricts access to their wallet. https://archive.is/55Nqw

I tried to set up an account last month with Coinbase and went through a similar issue when this "Your account is incomplete" page showed up after signup. Incompetent support team didn't do anything helpful for 10 days and I ended up closing my accounts. Funny thing is, there was even an error when I tried to close my account and they could not process the request.

I also was able to infer some of the inner workings of their DB because of the malfunction and it appears that they do not actually remove closed accounts; instead the emails are prefixed with a string containing the date of deletion and other text which I will not publicize.

Think about this. Automatically changing the email address linked to access my personal and financial information? The new email is indeed a valid email address with the same domain, and this new email can be registered with the same provider.

TL;DR
Same issue restricting wallet access for both new and established accounts has been going on for over a month
Incompetent tech support doesn't know shit
Website processing errors (can't add info, delete accounts, etc.)
Questionable privacy practices

For now I'd say stay FAR FAR AWAY from this load of crap. Their rates are pretty good but that won't matter when shit hits the fan.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain Conspiracy Theory on: October 09, 2015, 03:54:57 PM
So this is a totally unfounded idea but I still believe it has a nonzero probability of happening.

What if someone (government agency, private enterprise, Dr. Evil, etc.) is building a private blockchain alongside the current one. They would only need to slightly exceed the current publicly advertised hashrate of what we believe to be the bitcoin network; this is technically and financially possible.

A similar situation is that a research agency makes some miraculous breakthrough in computing (quantum computing, high density power, etc.) and is able to "mine" a new blockchain at a significantly faster rate than what the public is using. Assuming the technology is a large enough leap, even prototype models could dwarf entire mining farms of today.

Is it possible for someone to publish an alternate blockchain and orphan upwards of 100k blocks (694 days)?

Are there measures in place so that such a long alternate chain cannot be accepted or is a chain allowed to dominate after splitting at any point?
17  Economy / Digital goods / Looking for S7 $100 coupon 0.07btc on: October 06, 2015, 06:03:42 PM
There are lots of people advertising 0.1btc coupons and I've had several offers for 0.09btc.

Anyone willing to part with one for 0.07btc?
18  Economy / Digital goods / [WTB] S7 $100 coupon 0.05-0.09btc on: October 06, 2015, 05:49:48 PM
Looking to buy a coupon asap. Rise of USD/BTC, surplus of coupons, etc... Offers under 0.1btc will be considered.

Thank you!
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Do POW shares count as the diff requested or the diff of the found hash? on: October 01, 2015, 02:32:32 AM
If mining on 1024 diff and a 30m diff hash is found, does submitting this yield 1024 shares or 30m shares?
20  Bitcoin / Mining support / Is it possible to run an Antminer S3 and Desktop PC on the same PSU on: September 28, 2015, 07:43:06 AM
I am short on power supplies and was wondering if anyone else has tried this out.

I have a PCP&C 750W with a single 12V rail capable of 748W.

130W: Intel i5-3570k slightly overclocked. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-3570-low-power,3204-13.html
219W: EVGA GTX570 HD stock. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-570/specifications
50W: Mid-High end Motherboard. http://www.buildcomputers.net/power-consumption-of-pc-components.html
15W: 3 HDDs. http://www.buildcomputers.net/power-consumption-of-pc-components.html
10W: 2 SSDs. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8747/samsung-ssd-850-evo-review/10
6W: 2 DIMMs. http://www.buildcomputers.net/power-consumption-of-pc-components.html
15W: USB Devices.
Total: 445W max load

305W left

355W: Power draw of Antminer S3 stock

Rayjay achieved 380GH/s at 300W on the wall and can underclock more if necessary. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=771979.msg9168493#msg9168493

Do people think that this is a viable option?
I should probably leave more breathing room but I'm more concerned about any issues that may arise from mixing the consistently high load of the miner with the sporadic load from the PC.
