1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Hodlers are actively buying bitcoin these days on: June 15, 2022, 08:18:12 AM
the blockchain analysis shows that a lot of bitcoin hodlers are actively buying bitcoin and increasing their wealth by taking advantage of the current discount offered to them by the weak hands and their panic sells.
as we can see here the number of addresses that are holding more than 1 bitcoin is significantly increasing which shows how people who were struggling to reach 1BTC target are succeeding these days and are even surpassing that target heading to the next one.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Need help with Tether on: December 06, 2020, 08:14:22 AM
I have never used Tether outside of exchanges and I wanted to send a small amount to my mobile wallet (Coinomi) and I am wondering how that works?

The wallet has created a new address for me that looks exactly like a legacy bitcoin address (starting with 1) which I get since it is Omni layer but I don't know how to spend the USDT from this address after I received it,
- Are the transactions taking place on bitcoin blockchain?
- Do I need to also have bitcoin in that address to pay the tx fees?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Market is red all over again... on: April 02, 2019, 08:27:03 AM
once again the bitcoin price rise has led to a massive altcoin dump all over the altcoin market as they continue losing value against bitcoin and show red on the charts. interesting point is that the top coins with bigger market cap are dropping harder than the smaller coins which is probably due to the arbitrage opportunity between the ALT <> USD <> BTC which is also partly the reason for the ALT/USD small rise.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ICO, STO, and now IEO,.. a little later XYZ and they are all the same! on: March 14, 2019, 10:54:15 AM
nowadays we are witnessing the death of "raising funds with offering coins" which is known as ICOs but it seems like they keep trying to come up with different names for the same thing to try and keep it going a little longer. it was first STOs which failed and now it is IEOs which are even worst than anything they have done before because they are centralizing it to exchanges which are already shady and unsafe.

how much longer do you think this is going to last?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / why do people insist on comparing bitcoin with unrelated altcoins? on: May 04, 2018, 07:00:53 AM
if you hand around bitcointalk for at least a week you can see the most common newbie created topic here is about bitcoin versus some other altcoin which usually does not even have anything in common with bitcoin!

for example the most common one is ethereum which is a token with an unlimited supply and dark future.
some examples

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3525529.0

all newbies.
is this the new way of advertising it? like they used in early days when they spammed our inboxes about it?
are they having trouble pumping it again?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [BTG] my Bitcoin Gold speculation on: October 10, 2017, 11:58:31 AM
by now you have probably heard about the new controversial fork of bitcoin called Bitcoin Gold or Bitcoin GPU.

i have speculated about this coin's price a couple of times in different places, i thought to make a new topic and share my thoughts here.
this is mostly a long term speculation.

coins that are mineable usually become the favorite of the community pretty fast. when mining them becomes profitable, they become even bigger favorites, and when they get pumped people can't shut up about them!

i believe one of the main reasons for popularity of ETH was mining of it. there is a huge community of miners with a lot of money invested in mining rigs (GPUs) who have been supporting and advertising ETH so far.
with the hard fork (first step on October 16 reduction of block rewards from 5 to 3), this is going to stop.

all this hashrate needs to go somewhere. where else better than something with bitcoin name in it.

with that said my speculation is that if miners really migrate to BTG chain and start mining it, advertising, hyping and pumping it, this coin can gain some fast popularity out of nowhere and even replace ETH in the bags of investors. essentially gaining the same price even!

there are two big issues though. and that is the premined coins that goes to the developer. but by comparison ETH also had the same kind of premine (even bigger).
the other is the airdrop. BTG is practically giving away 16,617,000+ coins although this will create a short term dump and as i said i am aiming more for the long term speculation

so where do you see BTG price in long term?
can it reach $300-$500 in a couple of months after release?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin UP: bitcoin is awesome; Down: bitcoin is shit and fraud on: September 14, 2017, 01:10:52 PM
am i the only one noticing this pattern?

when bitcoin price was rising in other words during the rally which lasted long enough, all the news was about praising bitcoin. bitcoin was even the headline and on the first page of major financial news papers! there was talking of how great bitcoin is and how it will go to large prices that we never even dreamed of!!!

and when the tide turns and the inevitable drop occurs the news turns with it! i actually find it very interesting how many negative news i am seeing these days. news of people calling bitcoin "fraud", calling it bubble, dying even, people who are now saying bitcoin will never be adopted (as if they never heard of Japan for example). and lots more.
8  Economy / Speculation / I bet you all wish you were BitcoinHodlers now... on: August 14, 2017, 11:05:53 AM
where are all those topics calling us BitcoinHodlers dumb and were giving us Hodling advice anyways?

enjoy the work of art by a Hodler Grin

*See you again at $42,000
9  Economy / Exchanges / who would have thought: Btc-e coming back this soon! on: July 31, 2017, 11:23:37 AM
they've released an official statement today in a couple of hours ago:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2056158.0
use google translate or look at comment #13, someone already did.
who would have thought they come back this soon and promise a refund!

the interesting line is the last one and says this Alexander guy wasn't their owner.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / let's take a closer look at $100,000,000,000 market cap on: June 06, 2017, 10:33:17 AM
TL. DR. any coins that don't have any usage (99.9% of the altcoins) shouldn't be counted in total market cap otherwise the total will be a meaningless number. instead consider utilities, how many merchants are using them, etc

by now you must have read something about it either on here or reddit or some place else.
yes it is exciting to see the market has grown this much and that number being that big! but what does market cap mean?

it is simply the result of price * supply.

here is an example of why it is such a terrible factor. the following coins (which i chose randomly based on price rise in past 24 hours) has 24.4 billion supply.
now as you can see it is a good example of a dead coin with 3 satoshi value which has been pumped. from 3 satoshi to 82 satoshi and this coin alone has contributed to 50 million dollars increase in market cap

are you still saying market cap is a good factor?

take a look at more coins if you don't agree with the above screen shot and want to argue that coin is good , blah blah...

the following coins are all dead coins. mostly in the range of 1 satoshi and even less. some of them don't even have a bitcoin market anymore. they are being traded with smaller coins such as Doge at funny prices such as 0.01 Doge per coin!
all the coins that i have circled have gone up from <1 satoshi up to prices you see. each in >500% (the circled percentage are only 24 hour rises).

look at the comical market caps:

hint
to see these coins you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the coinmarketcap.com page and then click next 100 a couple of times to reach these coins
11  Economy / Speculation / kwukduck the hits, or a walk down the memory lane on: May 27, 2017, 12:13:10 PM
lets take a look at the history of the duck and have some fun because apparently i've got nothing better to do  Cheesy
make sure to look at the dates of these posts not just the text Wink
Maybe you learned a lesson? Get out while you still can, we will go down HARD very soon as the governments come cracking down on btc.
Bitcoin is already dead, haven't you been reading the posts here lately? Cheesy
In fact, it was declared dead already in 2011, 2012, 2013, it's still dead.
I had hoped we wouldn't break this indicator, but we have, and quite so.
We can expect sub 100 in a 1 to 2 month time frame now. Worst of all, there's no indication it will stop collapsing there.
Under $10 is pretty much guaranteed within like a year time.
And no, there will be no recovery, bitcoin is outdated and shown to be ineffective technology.
Quote
What will the price be on the 31st of December 2015, midnight?
$55
Well that was a nice bounce eh?
We will continue to slide down with about 3-6% per day for the upcoming days, possibly with a hard crash to close the weekend ($100-$175).
Now that QE has stopped, bitcoin has pretty much lost all rights to exist.
It doesn't bring anything new to the table anymore that current monetary system doesn't solve a hundred times more efficient.
This is i believe the main reason people are running away from this ponzi really hard.
Yes, i say ponzi because that is what it has become at this stage.
We broke 260 which is an indicator of a further massive decline well into the double digits.
Lets see if we break $60-70...
Well the predictions are still on track 3-5% decline daily.
We are far from the bottom, we need to reach $30-60 before its technically even possible to recover.
There is so much dump volume incoming i doubt we can even hold up those prices and we may even drop to single digits shortly in a flash.
We will be under $100 way before 1st of July..
Pressure is building up really strong.. upcoming crash is going to be devastating.
we're going to test 300 within the next week, but not without a retrace or two along the way i think.

Lol no. It's just another dead cat. You should know by now... within a week we'll  be back down to low 200s

laughing at someone who was trying to tell others to buy bitcoin cheap at $400 eh.
I'm absolutely laughing my a** off here. You must feel like a complete douchen buying at 470 or whatnot and see it go up in smoke in seconds. Now desperately trying to make people buy your bags before it crashes sub 400.

How many of you got your finances burned to ashes today? Just curious...

When Craig verifies he is Satoshi later today we will drop to double digits within minutes and not recover.
The CEO of Bitcoin told me it would be $1000/btc byt i'm sure he's lying as the system is fundamentally bound to collapse with the halving.
Let me think... Considering this was all a sham... Mmm nobody.
We will probably settle around 300 again.

and my all time favorite was this, i wish all bubbles popping were like this Grin
*POP* goes the bubble...

12  Economy / Speculation / just buy it already, strategy! on: May 20, 2017, 12:38:00 PM
these days a lot of my friends are asking me about whether they should invest in bitcoin and is it too late, ...
you can already see a lot of their similar questions on bitcointalk.

of course the first thing to know is to "always invest what you can afford to".

but second thing i say is "just buy bitcoin already".

i know a lot of people who have been waiting and waiting for a long time just for price to reach $#### and then buy bitcoin. and each day they are missing opportunities to buy. and each day that passes they have to pay more or buy less bitcoin with same money.

yes there is a chance of drop, that is why the first rule exists. and besides the chances of rising in long term will always be much higher than the chances of not rising or dropping.

so just make up your mind, either buy now and accept the consequences or stay away now and again accept the consequences.

the world won't stop for you to make a decision, nor will it change to your liking.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Valar Morghulis, All ShitCoins must die on: April 20, 2017, 03:30:44 PM
as they say in Braavos Valar Morghulis
All ShitCoins must (eventually) die

Valar Dohaeris
All ShitCoins must serve (their purpose...)

p.s. there are some coins in there that are red and in the red box as collateral damage Cheesy
i hearted LTC because i like the coin, haha.
and i also hearted ETC only because it is the decentralized version of centralized ETH nothing more.
14  Economy / Speculation / oh Arbitrage, where art thou on: April 14, 2017, 10:39:50 AM
I am watching the price on both bitstamp and bitfinex (have no money nor bitcoin in either Sad ) and i see bitfinex is pulling up towards the $1200 meanwhile bitstamp is pulling it down towards the $1150

so what the hell is going on over on these two excahnges! and why nobody is doing any arbitrage trading.

BullFinex: $1191
bearstamp: $1147-$1159
15  Economy / Speculation / price went up, opportunity to buy cheap is now lost on: March 26, 2017, 01:17:34 PM
as i am writing this price is $984 according to bitfinex and it seems like the opportunity to buy cheap coins with a big discount is now officially over.

finally the sell pressure is not to be seen and it seems to me like FOMO[1] is kicking in. specially since many weak hands sold their coins in the depressing days recently. lets see where this ends up. i hope everyone learns some lessons from this.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 200,000,000 USD is being transfered daily using bitcoin! on: March 02, 2017, 02:17:59 PM
according to blockchain.info charts, every day about 170 Million dollar to 350 million dollar is being moved around with bitcoin. the average of this amount is something around 200,000,000 USD per day.

this is about 200,000 to 350,000 bitcoins daily.

https://blockchain.info/charts/estimated-transaction-volume-usd (the past year)*

* This is only showing the total USD value of bitcoins that were transferred from one address to another in one day excluding change (coins returned to sender).
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Which altcoin is going to the moon now that BTC is stable. on: January 24, 2017, 12:48:29 PM
after a period of huge volatility in bitcoin and lots of profit, it seems like bitcoin price is finally becoming stable again.

and in my experience when bitcoin market becomes stable, traders come back to altcoins and they start becoming a lot more active.

now which one do you think is going to be pumped next?

ETH:
it has always been a good option for pump and i think it is highly possible we see a new wave of big pumps in this coin.

ETC:
by extension i say it will go up too if ETH starts rising.

LTC:
the long sleeping giant, i am expecting a big wake up specially with the segwit.
18  Economy / Speculation / Do not buy bitcoin IF... on: January 05, 2017, 01:57:27 PM
if you are a newbie who panics with every bump and starts selling...
if you are a newbie who panics with every jump and starts buying...

save yourself the head ache and do not invest in bitcoin, just stay away. when you make decisions based on panics you are only feeding the whales.

look at the price right now, the panic they created caused a drop from $1166 to $851 on bitfinex and who do you think sold on top and made the panic? the same people who have been buying bitcoin low from you.

but if you are in it for the long haul, just buy what you can afford and hold it in a cold storage and be happy with being a part of a limited supply future currency which is going to conquer the world. and stop looking at the price every second unless you are a seasoned trader.

p.s. from BitcoinHodler
19  Economy / Speculation / ($820) i told you so on: December 21, 2016, 02:51:16 PM
i wasn't personally expecting the $800 resistance be broken this soon specially with all the tiny rises during the $760-$790 range.

but i was certain that when $800 is broken, price rise is going to speed up and now it is already at $820 by the time i am writing this.  Cool

now the question is where is the new top in this rise?
20  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / looking for list of hardware wallets and some feedback on them on: December 03, 2016, 03:27:19 PM
a friend of mine is looking to buy a hardware wallet and when he asked me i could only tell him about https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet hardware section.

but can anyone give me some feedback on each of these like their prices and any possible issues if you are personally using one of these?

also are there any more than 4 on bitcoin.org that weren't listed? if so why aren't they listed?

Thanks, i close this topic since i don't think i am going to get any more than that.
