1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CGMiner Scrypt get a better hash rate on: July 19, 2013, 07:38:04 AM
Hey guys I currently have 2 5970 Cards, both Watercooled.

My 1st 5970  (GPU 0 & GPU 1) is clocked at 775 MHz Core, 1100M MHz Memory, and 1074 VDDC
My 2nd 5970 (GPU 2 & 3) is clocked at 900 MHz Core, 1250 MHz Memory, and 1190 VDDC

Also my parameters for cgminer are as follows:
Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.give-me-ltc.com:3333 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD --shaders 1600 --thread-concurrency 8000 -g 1 -w 256

Are the following hashrates I am getting alright? (Don't worry about the average hash rate on the side, that's because I've been fiddling around with the cards but I've found them to be stable now)

Also all my temps are low, and my VRMs are all below 80 degrees C.

Anyway I could improve these hash rates? Cheers
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CGMiner Scrypt not working at all on: July 18, 2013, 08:49:11 AM
Hey guys, I can't seem to get CGMiner to work under scrypt no matter what I try. My cards (2 5970s WC'd) work perfectly fine with Bitcoin, but I try out scrypt mining for Litecoin nothing seems to be working Sad

Also I have 4GB of RAM and am running a AMD Sempron 145 if that helps.

This is what I am faced with:

These are the parameters I am using:
Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt  -o stratum+tcp://stratum.give-me-ltc.com:3333 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -I 9

Also I am using SDK 2.1 and Drivers 11.
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Need help deciding - 5870 or NOT ? on: February 22, 2013, 11:05:05 PM
Hey guys,

I haven't been in the bitcoin community for a while due to studies etc.
Last time I was generating Bitcoin was in December where there was all this hype about ASIC.

Reading around, it looks like companies like bASIC pulled out with people's money or something.

Anyways, my rig currently has 3 Watercooled 5970s, all hashing away nicely. (Going to take 1 5970 out as I need to do some work on it)
A great opportunity has appeared for me to buy 2 watercooled 5870s for a great price.
I was wondering if I should invest in these 2 cards, or is there any legit ASIC company out there.

I do know that IF, and yes IF, ASIC does occur, I can always switch to Litecoin.

So what would you people recommend?

At the current rate, it will take me 3/4 of a month to fully pay off these watercooled 5870s (a rig with 2x 5970s, and 2x5870s).
So that will be roughly 2.7 ghash. (Can go higher, not sure how hard to I can push the 5870s yet)

4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / CGMiner --Scrypt Crashing on: September 29, 2012, 05:24:25 AM
Hey guys,

I can't seem to run CGMiner with the --scrypt option.
I always run into the following error, followed by CGMiner disabling all GPUs and the crashing (dialog of the program is not responding comes up).

Anyone know why?
I have 3 5970s.

6  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / UPS for Bitcoin Machine? on: August 24, 2012, 03:14:49 AM
Hey guys,

I have a machine happily hashing away in my garage.

It uses a 1250 W Seasonic X PSU.

Sometimes I get power drop outs for about 1 minute or so, so I was wondering what type of UPS should I use?

I live in Australia and the voltage here is about 230.

Thanks
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / What to do with my GPUs when ASIC arrives? on: July 19, 2012, 10:04:44 PM
Hey guys, as the title says:
What should I do with my GPUs when ASIC arrives?
And I want to make money, I already have contributed enough to Folding@Home.

Cheers
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Profit: Merged Mining or Bitcoin Mining on: July 16, 2012, 12:47:11 PM
As the title says, which of the two offer more profit for myself.

I have a 3 GHash/s rig, and mine at OzCoin. So I can either Bitcoin mine (what I am doing now), or Merge Mine.

Which one offers more profit my end, or are they basically the same, eg some times merged pas more other times it pays less.

Cheers
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Can I fit another 5970? on: July 06, 2012, 01:21:40 PM
Hi guys, I'm wondering if I should drop another $300 to get a WC'd 5970, and actually use my rad.
I currently run a rig with the following specs:
2x 5970 (1 Water Cooled with an EK Block)
1x 5870
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7
AMD Sempron 145
Seasonix X-1250W PSU.

Watercool gear:
HWLabs 480 GTX Rad
4x 5400 Gentle Typhoons
XSPC D5 Pump Res Combo

Electricity ain't a problem, so just ignore that. I know that the WC'd 5970 pulls about 84 Amps. (Yes it's overclocked) I overclock all my GPUs. So I was wondering if my PSU could handle another 5970 overclocked?
I have a huge 480 Rad with 4 5400RPM Gentle Typhoons screaming away in my garage, so I want to kind of use my rad, but I'm not sure if my PSU is up to it.

Also I am running Windows 7 64-bit, so could I run 3 5970s and 1 5870, all overclocked, on my PSU, and be able to mine on THEM ALL. I hear some people say that 5 is basically the highest because after that it gets unstable, but others say up to 8 GPUs are fine. I'm confused. :S

Pictures:

I have underclocked my WC'd 5970 to get lower VRM temps. I keep all my VRM temps under 100 now. Smiley

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers. (Y)
10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Win 7 - 3x 5970 + 5870? on: July 06, 2012, 05:50:09 AM
Hey guys, I am currently mining with
2x 5970, and 1 5870, (5 GPUs) on Windows 7, 64-bit. I'm using CGMINER.
All is going well.
MOBO is: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7.

I was wondering if I could throw in another 5970, and mine with that, making it a total of 7 GPUs.
Would that work?

Because I am currently mining with 5 GPUs, 5970's are dual GPU cards.

Cheers
11  Bitcoin / Mining / 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 05, 2012, 09:08:35 AM
Hey guys,
I just recently got myself a 5970 with a waterblock, and so have that 5970 watercooled, while my other 2 cards, another 5970 and a 5870 are still on air lol.

Are these temps dangerous for a 5970 on WATER?

Overclock settings:
Voltage: 1250
Engine: 1100
Memory: 350

---------------

I am running just a simple water loop just cooling the 1 5970.
Just using some XSPC D5 Res Pump thingo, GTX 480 Radiator (yes I know overkill but got a good price on it), and 4 (yes four) 5400 RPM Gentle Typhoon.

The fans are pretty powerful so I'm not really sure why I get 30C core and 100C VRM. Totally strange IMO.
12  Bitcoin / Mining / 5870 - 470 mhash 24/7 & Rig Advice on: June 30, 2012, 10:54:53 AM
Hey guys.
I've just added a 5870 about 3 days ago, and been playing around with the overclocks on it.
I am using the following settings on the 5870:
Core: 1020 MHz
Memory: 350 MHz
Voltage: 1.250

Fans are ALWAYS at 100%. Yes it is a reference card also.
Ambient temp is usually below 10C. I live in Melbourne and this rig is in my garage.

This basically gets around 470 Mhash.

Also here is the rest of my rig, I have another 5970, so I was wondering if the 5970 is going alright.
I am using the following settings on the 5970:
Core: 840 MHz
Memory: 300 MHz
Voltage: 1.062

This card is reference, but with an AC Accelero Xtreme, hence the bad vrm temps.

Here is a screeny of the rig:

Also the PC specs if anyone wants to know:
MOBO: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7
CPU: AMD Sempron
MEMORY: 4GB - Some red G.Skill, not Ripjaws

PSU: Seasonic X-1250W

Driver: 11.12
SDK: 2.1

I will be adding another 5970 in about 1 week, but it will be watercooled, so I was thinking about pushing that puppy hard.

Don't worry about electricity, it is not a problem.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Best Pool for Me? - 1.2 GHash / 2 GHash on: June 29, 2012, 12:22:45 PM
Hey guys.

I'm kind of new here and was wondering what would be the best pool for me.
Currently I'm only mining at 1.2 GHash, but soon will upgrade to 2 GHash. (Waiting for a 5970 to arrive).

Right now I'm mining at OzCoin with DGM. I think that's 0% fee or something.

Any recommendation in which pool/s would give me the highest profit possible.

Thanks
14  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 5970 - VRM Temps @ 105C? on: June 12, 2012, 07:34:38 AM
I'm just curious at whether this is bad for my card.
I currently have my card (5970) clocked at 860 Core, 300 Memory and all temps seem to be fine.
Mining at around 790 - 800 mhash/s.
Core is @ 50C.
VRMs are at around 100 to 107C.

Is this a bad range for my VRMs? I am mining 24/7.
15  Bitcoin / Mining / 840 MHash on 5970 - Good or Bad? on: June 10, 2012, 01:05:37 PM
Hi I'm relatively new to Bitcoin Mining and was wondering if about 840 mhashes is good for a 5970?

I'm currently at 910 mhz core, and 375 mhz memory. Stock voltage. Cgminer reports voltage as being 1.050, so I believe that is stock? Or is that too high of a voltage?

Also with such a high clock with this hurt my card? Eg will it reduce the life of my card?

Thanks.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie Help - 1 5970 and 1 5850 on: May 13, 2012, 12:48:39 PM
Okay so Hi everyone.
I'm new to bitcoin mining and I have myself a rig with 1 5970 and 1 5850.
That should give me 1 ghash/s.

So I only pay a flat rate each month which does not change whether I use more water or electricity. So electricity is not a problem. I've read all the guides etc.

What is the best mining pool with the highest rewards for me?
And I am using windows 7.

Thanks.
