1  Economy / Service Discussion / Figuring out how much was invested with pirateat40 on: August 29, 2012, 03:43:17 AM
So I don't have a bone in BTCST or any of the bets around it, but I have a bit of time and a little bit of a mathematics background (undergrad degree in math), and am really curious to figure out exactly how many BTC were invested with pirateat40... has anyone linked (or could anyone share) the transactions of their investments with him?

I heard the claim that he's the owner of the largest bitcoin account account [1]. Does anyone know of evidence to support it?

2  Bitcoin / Project Development / A proposal: Bitcoin address directory on: July 21, 2012, 08:31:21 PM
Say you want to send bitcoins to someone on a forum like reddit, Hacker News, Facebook, or by e-mail, and they don't have a bitcoin address. I propose a public service which will accept bitcoins on behalf of someone, reaches out to verify their ownership of the recipient account, and allows them to clam the bitcoins and set up an address to forward their bitcoins to in the future.

Would this be useful? What are the downsides?
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What is an output's script formats from Electrum server and blockchain.info? on: June 15, 2012, 08:33:41 PM
When reporting unspent outputs on an address, blockchain.info and the Electrum servers have a field called "script" and "raw_output_script", which are 200 bytes, but the wiki [1] documents scriptSigs which are much longer. How is the former generated?

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Typical way of using/reusing addresses in a wallet on: June 03, 2012, 04:45:01 PM
So I realize this isn't enforced in any way, but is there a standard system by which addresses in a Bitcoin wallet are to be used?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / How long until I can post outside the newbie area? on: June 03, 2012, 02:48:10 AM
I want to ask some questions about this bounty:

But I can't post there yet. What do I have to do to be able to post there?
6  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Bitcoin client HTTP protocol documentation on: June 03, 2012, 02:44:45 AM
Does anyone know where the HTTP protocol between server and client is documented?

Also, I have the client installed in Ubuntu, and am not able to select HTTP (it doesn't look grayed out, but won't select when I click the radio button). If I could get the client to use HTTP, I could just analyze the traffic (in leu of documentation, which there doesn't seem to be any of).
