1  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-22] Inside The Bizarre Upside-Down Bankruptcy Of MT. GOX on: March 23, 2018, 08:49:07 AM
Every six months for the past four years, some number of former customers of the defunct Mt. Gox bitcoin exchange have gathered in a small room in a Tokyo courthouse to hear an update from Nobuaki Kobayashi, the stoic Japanese attorney appointed as the trustee for the case.

The number of creditors attending the meeting has dwindled over time: the first one reportedly drew more than 100 people, but the most recent one earlier this month drew fewer than 30, according to the estimates of one attendee.

That does not mean the Mt. Gox case has gotten any less strange — just the opposite. By definition, bankruptcy occurs when an entity cannot pay its debts. But as of this writing, Mt. Gox has enough assets to pay off its claims with more than $1.4 billion worth of bitcoins left over. The trouble is figuring out what to do with them.

“This is absolutely unprecedented in Japanese law,” says Andy Pag, who got a group of creditors together under the name Mt. Gox Legal and hired an attorney to advocate for better terms. “There’s never been a bankruptcy like this in Japan or probably anywhere in the world.”

2  Economy / Speculation / Having xbt listed on the stock exchange on: June 16, 2016, 03:42:19 AM
Hi all,
I'm just wondering if there's any reason why xbt isn't listed as a fund or currency on the worldwide stock exchanges?
We all know about the winklevoss etf several years ago, that doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon...
What I'm asking is, why isn't there an effort to have btc listed on the stock exchange as an etf in every other country in the world?
Couldn't we just apply in every country to have it listed on that countries stock exchange? Wouldn't that open it up to the international market?
we all know that getting vc money into btc will have the most impact on prices yet we seem to be lagging all around the world in getting things together in this regard...
please correct me if i'm wrong

9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon Bulk Chip Order Confirmation Email on: May 08, 2013, 02:02:01 PM
hi there,

I ordered 10k chips from avalon and in the email it says:

1 You must make a payment within 8 hours, or your order will be cancelled
2 As soon as your payment is received in full you will receive email confirmation with order delivery details.

I was wondering if anybody else who made a bulk purchase actually received the confirmation email after making payment?

I've sent emails to both info@avalon-asic.com and ngzhang@avalon-asic.com and neither have replied.

Any help would be appreciated as it's pretty uncomfortable having that much money tied up without even a confirmation email.
