3  Economy / Reputation / Merits offered as a prize on: August 21, 2020, 12:21:43 PM
In the german section, there are two topics (from sportsbet and bitcasino) which offer merits as a prize for correct betting on soccer games.

Merits are intended to express the appreciation of a good / worthy post.
Giving them out as a prize seems.. odd.. to say at least.

What is the general consensus regarding such behavior? What is your personal opinion?
4  Local / Deutsch (German) / Negative Trust für Translator Spam? [@1miau] on: July 08, 2020, 11:34:11 AM

Siehe Trust Seite:
Code:
Positive - You think that this person is unlikely to scam anyone.
[...]
Negative - You think that trading with this person is high-risk. You might also be able to add a flag.

Andere Meinungen dazu? Wer wäre denn pro "negative trust für translator spam"?
5  Economy / Reputation / [Shady] sendbit.io + cryptotalk99 on: May 11, 2020, 11:54:32 AM
sendbit.io (web wallet) is shady and might be malicious.

Code:
$ whois sendbit.io
Domain Name: SENDBIT.IO
Registry Domain ID: D503300001183785123-LRMS
Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.namecheap.com
Registrar URL: www.namecheap.com
Updated Date: 2020-04-16T18:15:20Z
Creation Date: 2020-04-11T08:53:43Z

User LeonCrypto registered May 09, 2020, 10:55:24 AM, just to shill sendbit.io 10 minutes later. His one and only post yet. (archived)

1) sendbit.io is deceiving potential customer:

They claim:
Just to clarify we do not have access to your private keys we use something called "createwallet" (https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.17.0/rpc/wallet/createwallet/) using JSON RPC [...]
(archived)

However:
  • The encrypted file is stored on their server
  • The password used to encrypt it is send in plaintext to their server

This concept is not similar to blockchain.com, where the keys are created and encrypted client-side and only are stored on the server.
They have full access to the private keys.

2) sendbit.io is donating to themselves:

sendbit.io donation address: 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq (archived)
Outgoing transaction to address 3AN8iJKd8VaVfczVY4Vvj8CQtMxZeNCFiP.
The very next and only transaction from 3AN8i.. goes back to 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq and 34Yam2jeDX348v6KtN6d21psC1gxn1o9tD.
The very next and only transaction from 34Yam2.. goes back to to 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq and 2 other addresses (34pVKwsP8YmyifjPBAWGnjcQKj4UNag3Gq and 38FrvmdxuHud75gQQqjA5fmp7rb3YxfrUy) which both again fund the sendbit.io donation address 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq and other address... and so on.. This continues.

This seems very shady to me. The only reason one would do that, i can think of, is to increase their reputation or popularity by pretending there are a lot of donations coming in.

3) cryptotalk99 affiliated with sendbit.io

3.1)
He is heavily shilling sendbit.io:

I don't know what programming language you're using based on PHP this is the best I could find https://sendbit.io/page/api-documentation other than coinpayments.

Sendbit.io allows you to have private key access so you're in control of your funds.
Can anyone look into https://www.sendbit.io/page/api-documentation and suggest?
[...]
The top two wallets for me are:

https://blockchain.com
https://sendbit.io

But I still recommend anyone reading this to go with a wallet that gives you your private keys...https://sendbit.io does.
[...]
In the future double-check the address before you actually send the payment.

checkout https://sendbit.io they prevent clipboard hijacking and even give you private keys for each address you own.

Sorry for your loss buddy.
If you're looking for a secure online wallet check out https://sendbit.io or trezor.io

Sendbit.io allows you to have access to your private keys... That's pretty cool and they have an awesome API
Trezor.io you'll need to order their hardware device your private keys are inside that.

  • 1 outgoing transaction which funded 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq directly and another address which also funded 32xTvYfrjf8KMemRfbmz9CrcBo6Q8YK6aq
The address used by cryptotalk99 (3AkoGZo64KFZ6GrsjxDiwUoR5puAW1x9NZ) seems to be included into the self-donation-circle.

7  Economy / Reputation / Flag - "CryptoSparks" on: September 20, 2019, 11:34:46 AM
CryptoSparks offered a "service" where he promised guaranteed returns with his "AI trading bot". [1]
After this didn't work out for him, he started a "lending request or partnership up to 5BTC" without any collateral. [2]

His faulty logic is clearly misleading. Especially for newbies:

1. More bots running the trade equals more support for the trade which equals to even higher probability of success.

Lenders keep control of their funds via API KEY. Basically is RISK FREE

Anyone engaging in this is very likely going to lose his money. Therefore a Type1 flag is appropriate.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Antiviruses on: August 27, 2019, 08:59:01 AM
@cryptojor

anti-virus is a pointless waste of space, just delete the av program

in the days when updating your system over the internet was unheard of, computer viruses sometimes did spread. in practice, they were still rare.

now, there are no malware threats that cannot be mitigated by simply choosing a secure operating system, and keeping it up to date. I've been doing exactly that for 10 years, any virus worth a damn would have stolen some of my BTC, and that hasn't happened.

I disagree.

Several user already have been warned from electrum phishing sites (or even from the malware they downloaded from that site) by their AV.
They would have lost their coins without an AV.

While AV's only recognize already known or blatantly stupid malware, every average windows- or mac user should have one installed.

And neither mac or linux are safe from malware. There is malware for these operating systems, less than 2-3%, but still it exists.
A secure operating system doesn't protect you against 1) malware being executed by non-techy people or 2) other kinds of targeted attacks (which are very costly and complex).

Changing the OS doesn't protect an absolute non-techy person at all, IMO.
Good OS in combination with common sense and some technical knowledge does.

I think it it safe to assume that you are not a clicky-pointy type of person who is running a colorful windows installation. You don't need an AV. That's fine, me neither.
But i would never suggest other people reading this (especially those running windows being not techy at all) to live without an AV. It offers at least some level of security.
10  Economy / Reputation / Flag against Livecoin (again) on: July 19, 2019, 07:41:42 AM
After receiving negative ratings and the flag against them being valid, there is a new account (Livecoin Manager) which hosts a new signature campaign.

Reasons the (type 1) flag is appropriate:

  • Livecoin holding customer funds hostage after he complained about them: Topic (archived)

  • No reference to owner / operator of the site. Almost impossible to take legal actions against them: Post (archived)

  • TOS which breake law. They make it impossible to file a police report without losing your funds: Post (archived)

  • Extremely shady behavior by letting customer trade assets they can't and never will be able to withdraw at all: Topic (archived)

  • Using a fresh account instead of their old one to not have their bad reputation being seen in their new signature campaign thread.

  • And much more ...

Edit:
Since Livecoin Manager and LiveCoin are operated by the same person / business, the same flag is necessary for the account LiveCoin.

11  Economy / Reputation / Flagging accounts which are up to sale [DT member actions needed] on: June 22, 2019, 05:45:17 PM
I decided to use some spare time to get some accounts - which are up to sale - flagged.

I found 2 threads claiming to sell forum accounts:

1) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5155184.0 (archived link): User 'SeW900'
2) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5139800.0 (archived link): User 'Rueduciel'

Both of them contained their telegram ID, so i just went ahead and contacted both of them.

1)
The accounts provided by 'SeW900'  (or better: @TrustedAccSeller on telegram) were:

According to him, some of them (the first and/or the second one) are already banned.
However, the remaining ones - which he wanted to sell - are not banned yet.

2)
The accounts provided by Rueduciel were:

I asked both of them to send me (user: alice321, just created today to receive those messages) a proof that they indeed own that account.

1)
After requesting proof of ownership of cicizhang and TanClan98 from SeW900, he told me that 'the account' already is banned.
Therefore he proposed me 2 other accounts, which i can buy (zackie and Zedster).

He told me to contact @TrustedAccSeller (via telegram), which i did.

After a long conversation with him and multiple excuses i brought up to not buy an account which he had proven the ownership of (because i wanted to tag as much accounts as possible), i finally got the proof of ownership of multiple accounts and names of a few accounts without proof of ownership.

The accounts proven to be for sale and owned by him (zackie, Zedster, Ntrain2k and narousberg) should definitely receive a negative trust rating.
I am not sure about the accounts without proof (cicizhang, TanClan98, nonnakip and pant-79). I'll let some DT member decide how to handle this.

2)
Rueduciel offered me J Gambler. But he did not send me a proof for ownership because he noticed that this account already is reserved for some other buyer.
Therefore he proposed me the account fitty, which he proved that he indeed has control over this account via a PM.

But now i really wanted to also have his first account (J Gambler) to be flagged too. I asked him whether i can have this account if i additionally pay 50$ on top (not like 400$ aren't enough already).
He agreed.

Unfortunately i made a big mistake by leaving him a negative trust rating BEFORE contacting, paired with my sense of humor regarding the chosen username, which interfered my plan. He came to the conclusion that my alt (alice321) is related to me (bob123).

While it is not proven that J Gambler is really under control of him, i still believe that he indeed wants to sell this account.
I am not sure about leaving a negative trust rating on this account, therefore i will let the DT members decide how to handle this.

fitty definitely should receive a negative trust rating.

Screenshots of the chat history:

Screenshot of my received PMs: here and here.

I have sent a negative trust rating to fitty, zackie, Zedster, Ntrain2k and narousberg.
Now i need a few (at least 1) DT member to also leave a negative trust rating.

Especially for Ntrain2k, since he has 6 positive trust feedbacks.

No one should trust an account which is up to sale. Especially not Hero / Legendary ones and some with a positive trust rating.
12  Other / Meta / How to properly report ban evasion ? on: June 19, 2019, 07:21:48 AM
Since more and more people are getting banned due to plagiarism currently and quite a few of them just create a new account to further participate / spam this forum... what is the correct way to report ban evasion ?

Simply report a post of them with 'ban evasion' in the comment field ?
Post into a 'Ban Evasion' thread (e.g. [Report] Ban Evasion [Requesting Admin/mod to check those and ban]) ?

What is the consensus here? What is the most efficient way which creates the least workload for the mods ?
13  Other / Meta / Email notification buggy ? on: June 13, 2019, 08:01:27 AM
I seem to not get any email notifications when receiving a PM.

Inside of the PM settings "Notify by email every time you receive a personal message" is set to Always.

Am i the only one experiencing this misbehavior ?

P.s. Disabling and re-enabling it didn't fix the issue.

Here are the user and their posts:

I will try to keep this list up-to-date for a (hopefully fast) ban of those accounts.
I wish there was a faster (and easier) way to get them banned instead of report each post individually.

Edit: I resigned.

17  Other / Meta / [Anti-spam Suggestion] Forbid newbies to post URL's on: November 02, 2018, 08:24:39 AM
Based on the last few 'spam attacks' (for example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5061448.0) of newbie bots posting some shady and scammy links to ICO's or whatsoever,

i'd be interested in hearing what you guys think about restricting them from posting URL's at all ?

My suggestion would be to remove the whole [url] tags, including the link inbetween AND any link posted without [url]-tags (similar to the 'suspicious link removed' message).

IMO there is no necessity for a newbie (who didn't even receive 1 merit) to post any URL.

Hello, since i do have some spare time at the moment i'd like to offer my service as a developer.

I can create any kind of bot (e.g. Reddit-, Twitter-, Telegram-, ... ) or any other software regarding data collection + processing, automation, web communication, etc..
Unfortunately my spare time is limited and i am therefore not able to accept larger projects at the moment.

If you want to have something developed, feel free to PM me with a short description of your project and we can discuss the conditions.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Another BCC pump/dump ? on: November 24, 2017, 10:07:34 AM
Hello guys,

i noticed BCH is going up rapidly again. I can't think of any reason why BCH should rise in price. I don't see how a few exchanges / wallet provider implementing BCH could lead
to such a rise in price. This seems to me as there is another pump (followed by another dump) of BCH.

I actually dont understand why people think BCH is better than BTC in any way.
BCH has been forked for 8 MB blocks.. but still those blocks are ~100-200 KB big.. In addition to that BCH processes an amount of TX's which isn't even worth mentioning.

So what do you guys think about Bit Shitcoin Cash? Another Pump and dump? Or some people really believe it solves any issue?
How do you guys react? Do you jump on the train which is doomed to crash and try to get out before its too late? Or you just don't care at all?
I'd like to hear your opinions!
