43  Other / Politics & Society / 4chan trolls reportedly behind part of the Iowa caucus chaos on: February 06, 2020, 10:48:31 PM
https://mashable.com/article/4chan-iowa-caucus-phone-lines/
According to NBC News, 4chan trolls posted the Iowa Democratic Party hotline on the imageboard’s politics section on Monday night, the night of the Iowa caucuses, urging the site’s users to “clog the lines.”
staff and volunteers were met with repeated phone calls from people who would immediately hang up and those who voiced their support for President Trump.

https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/clog-lines-iowa-caucus-hotline-posted-online-encouragement-disrupt-results-n1131521
An Iowa Democratic Party official said the influx of calls to the reporting hotline included “supporters of President Trump who called to express their displeasure with the Democratic Party.”

Users on a politics-focused section of the fringe 4chan message board repeatedly posted the phone number for the Iowa Democratic Party, which was found by a simple Google search, both as screenshots and in plain text, alongside instructions.

"They have to call in the results now. Very long hold times being reported. Phone line being clogged,"

The unexplained, and at times hostile, calls

The Trump campaign denied any affiliation with people clogging phone lines on Monday night.

“We don’t know anything about this, but perhaps Democrats should consider using an app that works," communications director Tim Murtaugh said. "It's laughable that they would try to blame Trump for their own incompetence."

Some users on 4chan pushed back against users claiming to spam phone lines on Monday night. One user said he didn’t want other trolls “making us the scapegoat for the DNC.”

“I can’t wait for the news headlines saying nefarious trolls ruined the caucus,” another added.

Do you think the DNC is just trying to pass the blame off onto someone else or were they really wrecked by 4chan?

How stupid can they be to leave such a gaping hole in their election security..

Some are saying things such as "This is felony election interference" but is that true since the DNC is a private organization and not a part of the government?

TYT will be live at 8 PM on the subject (I think).. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REwvFfxKUCA

If this is one of you guys's scambuster proteges that's all well and good.. Maybe he is a good detective and scam buster, but the things I am seeing this account post in relation to forum social and business etiquette are just about blowing my mind..

I forced them to start an escrowed campaign.

There are a lot of scam accusations and some People think that this exchange is a scam (Including me).

But, still waiting for the problem with the trust to be resolved so as not to expose participants to the risks. That's the reason for this delay.
mosprognoz, can you give one more good advice on how to speed it all up?

That is a very silly excuse. If only one neg tag from DT member is stopping you from starting of this bloody sig campaign, than buy a new legal copper member account and start the promised campaign.

Now you are suggesting he evade red trust by using multi accounts?

Why do you want this campaign to run so badly?
How are you so ignorant of proper business etiquette here?

You don't "force" escrow..
You don't advertise for scams, escrow or not..
You don't just create a new account to evade red trust..
"Legal" is not a descriptor of legitimacy..
LEARN

You trying to step up as some position of authority to "resolve" anything is laughable while stating so many utterly distasteful propositions..
I am almost in disbelief..

Now you are suggesting he evade red trust by using multi accounts?

Anyone can buy a copper member account any time. That is completely legal.

Making a new account does not let you escape your feedback..

I suggested that

Obviously this guy won't listen to a word I say so I am handing this responsibility off to you below users who trust mosprognoz and have him included on your trust lists..

And one more question. Why are you using the quote from Lauda's post as your signature? It looks like a plagiarism done via signature.

47  Economy / Reputation / How to handle a high profile hacked account? on: September 18, 2019, 07:35:40 PM
So I see an account that I think is hacked but I would really hate to unintentionally harass this user or have this user harassed by publicly posting my suspicion if I am wrong..

This is a highly green trusted account and I would argue has a historically significant post history that I would hate to see tampered with by the hacker..

I sent it a pm..
Quote from: eddie13 link=action=profile;u= date=1568832911
You look hacked..
Can you convince me your not hacked please?
But I don't know if that is the right thing to do or if I should do more..

If it is hacked I don't think slamming it with flags and red trust is the right thing to do.. Rather, I think it should be frozen or something so the hacker doesn't go destroying it..

It would be nice if admin could stop this account from deleting or editing old posts and/or trust.. Even if we need to red tag and flag this account due to the hack I also believe users removing old positive trust from it would be a shame..

In the time since I noticed it now the PW and email have been changed too.. I think it just happened but don't know where that log thing is..
It doesn't look like it is actively trying to scam or anything but it looks like the hacker is testing the waters by posting with it. Posts that seem quite out of character for the true owner, and sent a bunch of merit for the first time..

I PMd Switzerland about it and they agree it looks extremely suspicious.. Also one problem is that their is a lot of potential for bias against this account and I can't help but feel some would just love for it to be erased from BTCT history..

What do?

Share this around to normies guys, gets the views up on this treasure!

It's friggen sick, wicked good, and by his lyrics it seems he is into the revolution.. He even had the balls to talk shit about governments and banks!

This is epic awesome but look at his tipping address

He has only got 0.00035 BTC in 2 tips...
What do you think this means about the Bitcoin community?  Are we stingy or do you think this is a good amount of tips for something like this?

Maybe he is filthy rich and we need the tips more than he does, but otherwise I think I'll be sending him a little tip when I am near my coins to show some support.. I think I'll be sending the address some RarePepes too just for fun..

Amaclin, due to his cunning, intelligence, and technical knowledge, may be one of the most dangerous active users on this forum.

This user has a long history of scamming other users via doublespends and other technical blockchain tricks, and even ground Bitcoin itself to a near halt with blockchain malleability attacks.. Read their trust summaries.. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1072601 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=197593

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=197593  amaclin is the old unused account
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1072601  amaclin1 is the new active account of this person and even has a positive trust from a DT member recently..

I don't know if amaclin is still currently attempting scams these days but if anyone needs a newbie/guest warning it is this person IMO..

Me not having been a victim myself, I can only place a newbie warning flag (level 1) but vlom may be eligible to place level 3 flags on amaclin due to being scammed by him here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2201906

What a shame..

Reports are emerging that a huge transfer of ERC 20 tokens from Cryptopia’s hot wallet was recorded on Etherscan. According to the records, about 48 million tokens worth approximately 1176596 USD were transferred to an unknown wallet.

The crypto community is reading mischief regarding this huge transfer and some are even calling it an exit scam.
https://www.cryptodigest.com/exchanges/huge-transfer-of-erc-20-from-cryptopia-raise-red-flags/

All I have heard talk of so far is just ERC-20 tolkens..

Cryptopia is hacked. All coins seem to be stolen and send to this address https://etherscan.io/address/0x9007a0421145b06a0345d55a8c0f0327f62a2224

Coins are moved now in small batches to exchanges so it's 99.9% sure this is the hackers wallet.

The exchange seems to be attacked with a massive influx of feed tokens and at the same time assets got withdrawn from cryptopia wallets.

Sorry for your losses guys. Lets hope people learn to not keep so many coins on exchanges

Being tracked to exchanges..

Hopefully this is all they were able to get and they might be able to recover some of them from the exchange accounts they are being sent to.
Hopefully the rest of the customers funds are safe.

I have had an account their for years but thankfully I haven't been keeping coin in exchanges in quite a while..

Quote
It’s worth noting that the first official tweet on the exchange’s official Twitter profile regarding the maintenance is from January 13th, saying:
"We are currently experiencing unscheduled maintenance, we are working to resume services as soon as possible. We will keep you updated."

"it’s somewhat “interesting” that the attack took place during a bear market where small exchanges struggle to stay afloat, hinting that the possibility of an inside job cannot be rule out."

Crypto news outlets are jumping all over the story.. Search "cryptopia hacked" for many articles..

55  Other / Politics & Society / Hackers Threaten to Dump Insurance Files Related to 9/11 Attacks on: January 01, 2019, 12:25:30 AM
The Dark Overlord appears to be trying to capitalize on conspiracy theories about the September 11 attacks.

On Monday, New Year’s Eve, a hacker group announced it had breached a law firm handling cases related to the September 11 attacks, and threatened to publicly release a large cache of related internal files unless their ransom demands were met.

The Dark Overlord, which has previously targeted a production studio working for Netflix, as well as a host of medical centres and private businesses across the United States.

“We'll be providing many answers about 9.11 conspiracies through our 18.000 secret documents leak,” the group tweeted on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Hiscox Group confirmed to Motherboard that the hackers had breached a law firm that advised the company, and likely stolen files related to litigation around the 9/11 attacks.

The hacking group published a small set of letters, emails and other documents that mention various law firms, as well as the Transport Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (The TSA could not provide a statement in time for publication, and the FAA told Motherboard in an email it was investigating.) Those documents themselves appear to be fairly innocuous, but the group says it may release more.

In its extortion note, The Dark Overlord included a link for a 10GB archive of files it allegedly stole. The group also provided a link to this archive to Motherboard before publishing its announcement. The cache is encrypted, but the hackers are threatening to release the relevant decryption keys, unlocking different sets of files at a time, unless the victims pay the hackers an undisclosed ransom fee in Bitcoin. (so much for BTC not being a "privacy currency")

“Pay the fuck up, or we're going to bury you with this. If you continue to fail us, we'll escalate these releases by releasing the keys, each time a Layer is opened, a new wave of liability will fall upon you,” the extortion note reads.

The Dark Overlord is also claiming to be offering to sell the data on a dark web hacking forum, and is attempting to blackmail individuals who may be included in the documents themselves.

https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/yw79k5/hacker-group-threatens-dump-911-insurance-files-dark-overlord

I get that a guy needs to be paid for his efforts, but I wish they would be humanitarian about it and just release the information.
If the information is truly important and groundbreaking, then I want the people to know about it, and I want to know about it..

These guys are criminals and all.. A lot of what they have done isn't exactly moral so I can't just side with them, but if they have any information for us that could stop this from happening again I would like to be out there for the good of humanity and the intelligence of us USA voters.

To me it sounds like they published the relevant documents but in encrypted form.
Even if they are in unbreakable form right now, maybe if the right people were to save these encrypted files some day in the future they could break them.

As for myself I wouldn't know how to label me as far as the 9/11 conspiracy goes..
I wouldn't say I'm a conspiracy theorist and believe all of the crazy conspiracies about 9/11, but I wouldn't say that I believe the official report 100% either..

New information would be welcome IMO almost BAMN (By Any Means Necessary)..
If a hacker were to find something and dump it I would respect that, but offering to accept money in return for never releasing it, I can't align with that..
56  Other / Serious discussion / Idea Discussion - Bitcoin Public Relations BPR Fork - Funding BTC Advancement on: December 11, 2018, 09:15:01 PM
This is an idea for an altcoin whos purpose is to fund a positive and informative PR campaign for Bitcoin similar to the DASH budget paid by the mining revenue.

I would like it to be forked from BTC so all existing keys get some coin to either dump or donate to the foundation. This would also raise awareness.

Change the block reward code to something like 10 BPR to the miner that solves the block and 2.5 BPR for every block goes to the foundation to spend on the Bitcoin PR campaign, no more halving. Maybe more, maybe less, help me think this through.

Set the coin up for Merge Mining like Unobtanium-UNO to be mined alongside Bitcoin by Bitcoin miners.
Why would Bitcoin miners want to merge mine BPR? Because BPR is going to help Bitcoin = helping them.

I think that Bitconers, even altcoin haters, will like BPR and support it because of it's mission.
If anyone wanted to help support the foundation they could do so by donating BPR to the foundation that they mined, bought, or received in the fork, and by providing liquidity on BPR/BTC markets because it will only work if it's worth something to pay for the PR campaign.

What would it be spent on?
How about some youtube ads? The same way they are always trying to sell me a Mercedes we can run little positive awareness ads for Bitcoin.
Not "Buy Bitcoin" ads but maybe just some positive facts about Bitcoin, information.

Something like
"Bitcoin, bringing power to the people across the world, put the power of YOUR finance in YOUR hands! paid for by the BPR foundation"
"Bitcoin, the most secure network in history, trust in numbers"
With cool graphics n sheet.

Small clickable google ads, facebook ads, ads on forums across the internet, on blogs, wherever we can buy small ads where normies are at.
How cool would it be to see an add for Bitcoin during the news hour of your local TV station? Maybe even a superbowl add some day.
Doge had a Nascar, maybe we can get Bitcoin on a Formula 1 car, MotoGP, Xgames skateboarding and BMX, the Olympics!

BPR can pay for the ads, pay professionals to create the ads, pay for management of the foundation to commission the campaign.

The foundation would have to be transparent and remain true to the purpose of advancing BTC. Always do the right thing, the best we can, and show it.

BPR itself will get publicity because our ads will say "paid for by BPR" so we advertise for the foundation at the same time in an indirect way.

I think a lot of people are grateful for what positive PR Bitcoin gets now (like Antonopoulos) and with just a little trust to give the BPR foundation a chance in the beginning (donate, mine, liquidity) it could go far.
Everyone will see that the foundation is doing what it said it would do when they start seeing the ads.

What we would need at first is just brainstorming a good plan, a good coder to code the altcoin, someone to make a website for BPR to explain it's mission, some miners to run it, and some Bitcointalk threads if it actually happens.

We don't need any scammy ICO to raise money to get it off the ground.
I think enough people to start it and make it happen would just help because they believe in the mission of the project pro bono or IOU, if it succeeds we can FAIRLY make it worth our work to make it happen and fairly employ people to run the foundation.

I think if it needed an ICO and the promise of profit then it's not worth doing.
This isn't for profit, it is a humanitarian effort for Bitcoin and the good of all people of the world (If you believe in Bitcoin for the right reasons).

It would benefit Bitcoin holders too, and miners, and businesses like Coinbase, and everyone directly or indirectly invested in Bitcoin and the Crypto community. So if they can trust that BPR is going to do what it says it's going to do, they might want to help too.

What do you think?
Why is this a terrible idea?

Can't? Better get it done..

It is wise to be able to prove your identity cryptographically through Bitcoin..
If you account gets hacked you can easily use it to report the hack and get the account flagged.. In order to maybe get your account back you will have to be able to sign a staked BTC address as well..
If, by chance, someone thinks your account is hacked, by signing you can prove that it is not..
If you do lose your account, you can use your staked address it to maintain your identity, prove who you are, and keep your reputation/trust..
If you ever want a loan a staked address could be very handy..
You can prove your identity on other sites and platforms such as telegram..
If you ever do a deal that requires trust you should be able to sign your identity at the request of the other party to prove you are not hacked, or prove you are who you claim to be..
At times it can also be good to sign contracts or deals with your identity so it can be proved you agreed to it..

I think staking your identity is an important part of your reputation and being a crypto community member so if you made that step towards membership you can have a merit for it..
