Hi all, Posting here to see if there's somebody who is willing to pay what I consider a reasonable price for two of my Cointerra Terraminer IV. I'm selling because my electrical costs are quite high (0.18/kwh USD with AC factored in) and it seems like the local utility company is slowly increasing the rates too. The other reason is because I rent a room hundreds of miles from the site, and I'm relying on somebody I'm not completely happy with the arrangement with the site owner. With that said I'm not opposed to continuous mining on them if nobody gives me a reasonable offer. I have more to sell than these two units but I'm going to see how these go first. Pictures located here: https://i.imgur.com/oeNaR9l.jpg (rack) https://i.imgur.com/rlt0CyY.png (#3) https://i.imgur.com/D77AFNg.png (#4) The units in particular that I'll be selling are #3 and #4 in the pic. Yeah I realize that it has a date from two months ago on the pic too but that's because I considered selling them a couple months ago but decided against it. If you really want a new pic I can take one on Sunday/Monday when I'm in town. I'll be in town from at least Sunday to Wednesday this coming week (for something else) which is why I'm considering on selling these two now as I can easily handle the packing and shipping in the evening. Both of these units run at 1.6 TH as seen in the pics - they also have been carefully repasted with Coollaboratory LiquidPro which is MUCH higher grade thermal paste than what it ships with. This combined with the AC set at 76 and directed somewhat at the intakes is the cause of the very low temperatures seen on those status pages. They run in a dedicated room with three dedicated AC units. There's effectively no dust or dirt in the units. There are significant scratches on the outer cases (not on the front) but that's a cosmetic issue only. The only thing I have to do to keep these running with basically 100% uptime is a remote reboot (using the WebUI - I just teamviewer in from home) once a week. That's all it needs at my location to keep operating without issues. I've been on these forums for two years. I also have industry friends that I've done business with or helped who can speak for my reputation: Jddebug, Abracadabra, GenTarkin, ElGrecoFL, WKNiGHT, and Jezzz. I would hope that people understand I can be trusted but if you insist on using escrow I understand - for this purpose I have already arranged for OgNasty to operate in this capacity. You will pay his fee (1%) if you elect this option. I have the original packaging materials, cables, etc. They will ship UPS Ground within one business day of confirmed payment to myself or OgNasty if you elect his escrow service. Shipping is to the continental 48 United States and will need to be signed for upon delivery. There is also an option for local pickup in the West Palm Beach area, where we'll meet at my friend's retail outfit (units will otherwise ship from Florida). There is no warranty or refund offered. These units have been working without issue since late March so I don't expect you to have any problems but of course I can't guarantee you don't. I don't sell hardware that isn't working properly - #2 actually has problems and may never be sellable (although it still works 90% of the time right now). #1 may be sold if the sale for these two go well but this is not on the table right now. Ideally I'd like to get BTC3.5 per unit - I doubt I'll get this though - so make lower offers at your leisure but keep in mind I don't HAVE to sell these and I have a reserve in mind that I won't sell below. Post your bids in this thread, do NOT PM me to make a bid. I'll be monitoring this thread and will start looking late tomorrow and will likely contact people on Sunday if reasonable offers have been made. You can either bid on one or both. Bid for your price to factor in shipping - I'm expecting a cost of about BTC0.16/$100 for UPS Ground. Thanks for reading.

Hi all, I'm finally getting around to selling my surplus video cards. This is one of three I'm selling - an Asus Directcu 5850. This is a card that was swapped via RMA by Asus for my original reference 5850 that had a failed fan on it. It looks to be in very good shape. It is not sealed as it shipped in that state without a retail box, and includes a small cardboard box with the following accessories: Asus manual and install CD, one DVI to VGA adapter, one Crossfire bridge, one 2x Molex to 6-Pin PCI-E adapter cable, and one DisplayPort to DVI adapter. - I have not tested it as I don't currently have a spare PSU for it - I will try to test it if there is a high demand for that - although there is a DOA provision in my TOS below. The card is model EAH5850 DIRECTCU/2DIS/1GD5 (appears to be this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121375). This card has 6+8 Pin power connectors as opposed to the 6+6 which is the norm on most 5850 cards. Terms of sale: 1. BTC only. 2. Graet of Ozcoin will be facilitating this transaction and providing escrow services. 3. UPS Ground will be used for shipping (from Florida). 4. Buyer can request signature requirement if they wish - and if so needs to let me know at time of purchase. 5. Buyer has three (3) days to report DOA card. I will be requiring buyer to ship back DOA card at their own cost. I highly doubt DOA will be a problem, since card has been tested by Asus and will be carefully packed. I will probably proceed by sending card to Asus for repair, and then once received back I will be sending card back to buyer at my own cost. Me or Graet would probably be holding buyer funds during this period. I really don't think this will be a problem but I'm being as clear and honest as I can. 6. If for some reason buyer has a problem down the line and Asus requires my interaction for warranty handling I will assist buyer if I can - however I can't make any guarantees regarding this. No vendor so far has required any proof of purchase for warranty repair and simply needed return address to ship unit back upon repair. To bid please make offer in this thread. Again - BTC only please. I will be looking at what bids I get here as opposed to going prices on eBay et al., and then will be contacting highest bidder via PM if I get what I consider to be a decent enough offer. Thanks, KIDC

Hi all, I'm finally getting around to selling my surplus video cards. This is one of three I'm selling - an MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition. This is a card that was send back from MSI in exchange for the one I sent them - another 6950 card (but reference) which had failing video output suddenly. This one is still sealed with tape from MSI - I haven't opened it up or anything. It is in a regular retail box it appears. Model is 912-V246-024. It appears to be the 2 GB version of the card on this page: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6950-1gb-benchmark,3041-4.html. Unless demanded by many people I'm not planning on opening up the box (in order to maximize resale value). Update: looking to get about $300 in btc - these are going for $350 on eBay, but I'm aware that they take about $40 in fees - so I'll definitely consider offers around $300 for BTCHi all, I'm finally getting around to selling my surplus video cards. This is one of three I'm selling - lightly used MSI reference 7970 - model 2PMD3GD5 ( http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-2PMD3GD5.html). I ran this for 2 months as a miner, just the card by itself in an open case in it's own room, undervolted to 1.006 vcore (as reported in MSI AB) and stock clocks (925). Then I put it my main box and ran it as a gaming card, sometimes overclocked to 1100, which was stable at stock voltage. I didn't try pushing it any further than that. I've repasted the die with AS5 and that reduced temperatures a little. Card is in perfect condition and is being sold in original box with all accessories. I highly doubt DOA will be a problem, since card has been tested and will be carefully packed. Me or Graet would probably be holding buyer funds during this period. I really don't think this will be a problem but I'm being as clear and honest as I can. I wouldn't be selling this card if I had any problems with it so far - there's a fourth video card (5850) that I suspect may be flaky and I'm not selling it for that reason (donating to sister for her gaming box). 6. Manf. warranty is still good for just over 2 years and will be handled by buyer and not by me. If for some reason buyer has a problem down the line and MSI requires my interaction for warranty handling I will assist buyer if I can - however I can't make any guarantees regarding this. No vendor so far has required any proof of purchase for warranty repair and simply needed return address to ship unit back upon repair. To bid please make offer in this thread. Again - BTC only please. [7.11.2013] Channel is effectively defunct. #butterflylabs has become the de facto place for BFL related talk and support so I suggest you go there.
ORIGINAL POST:
I've now registered ##bflusers to all who wish to participate. Located on Freenode, this is intended for a support channel for BFL hardware owners, pre-order customers, etc. This is not an official channel, even though it may seem like it. This is why Freenode policy requires ## (must put both before bflusers in order to join). I think it would be good for us to have a place to talk, debate, and help each other as BFL's userbase, especially for the ASIC rollout in just over a month. This way we can pool our knowledge and get the most out of our significant investment. I'm not anticipating BFL's help, nor is it a channel to pander to them. If they provide help though I'm not going to refuse it though and I would appreciate it. Most of all, I want this to be a community for BFL hardware miners to get help and provide help to others in a symbiotic manner.
With all that said, I'll see you there!
- KIDC
EDIT: Clarified double # for unofficial channel.
ORIGINAL POST:
Hi all,
I'm considering registering an IRC channel on Freenode for BFL hardware owners such as myself to share information and support each other. I think it would be helpful for us to bounce ideas and troubleshoot of off one another. BFL's ASIC release is coming up in just over a month, so now is the time to get this ready to go. This would be unofficial although if BFL reps want to be present in there I don't see a problem with that at this moment. I would be the operator of the channel. But I won't have a ton of time on my hands so I may delegate moderation to others that I think would be trustworthy. I'm also not an expert on BFL technology by a long shot, so this isn't a channel for people to come and get support from me directly, it would be a community operation. All would be welcome in the channel unless they cause excessive problems (drama etc.). I have not decided what the channel name would be yet, although I do have one in mind.
Is there any demand or interest in this, or would I be wasting my/others time?

I haven't been a member of this community for long. For the few that know me so far you may have noticed that I try to be "super manner" as much as possible. In this vein I don't want to project an image like I'm making a demand or complaining, because I'm not. However I do feel strongly about this issue. With that out the way let me begin.
I have 6 Rev 3. BFL Singles running in my house. I've already reversed the fan orientations on all 6 units and I'm currently considering replacing the fans with high quality versions. The cooling systems that ship for these FPGAs are nowhere near the 32db stated on the BFL website. Yes, I am aware that they have the highest profitability and performance of any current mining hardware. If BFL can deliver on the ASICs within their timeframe and performance statements then they are going to crush everybody else. Their only limiting factor for sales will most likely be their customer service reputation and turnaround time for assembly and delivery.
Now I've already ordered 6 Single SCs, bringing my investment with BFL to approximately $8k USD. So they already have my money, and I was one of the first who send them their money. For me, cooling performance and noise is a big buying decision and is the only real thing I don't like about the FPGA Singles. I have quite a bit of experience with various cooling systems, to the point where I could perhaps even be qualified in designing heatsinks/fan systems. My previous mining operation had aftermarket heatsink solutions on the GPUs - to the point where they were far quieter than normal and had superior cooling performance. The was accomplished by much larger surface area for heat dissipation and larger, lower RPM fans. Now I would love to own a mini-rig but that's out of the question for now so I can't comment on it's cooling performance or acoustics - however I can say that in my opinion the cooling system for the FPGA Singles is designed for aesthetics and not cooling performance.
What I am requesting for the upcoming ASIC line is the opposite. Nice Aesthetics are a bonus of course, but I value cooling performance and low acoustics a much higher priority. I highly doubt the aesthetics are a purchasing decision for almost anybody when looking at this hardware. Apparently ASIC manufacturing, especially full custom, has a long lead time so it may be too late for me to make this request a reality. The units may already have shipped. However if they are still in the design phase for cooling then I would like to see 120mm, low RPM fans with larger surface area per watt of heat output. It's completely possible to build a cooling system that can operate at ambient of 90 Fahrenheit at sub 30 decibels 24/7 and stay at 60 Celsius or below. I know this because I already have several devices that do this and their power consumption for the die far exceeds the approximately 60 watts of the FPGA Single.
I'd like to see what other members of the community think - both current, prospective, and never-ever BFL customers. This isn't an attempt to start yet another BFL drama thread either - this is an honest request to BFL. This is an important issue from me since I have to live 10 feet away from all the units that I own. I'm not sure what others think so that's another reason for this thread. If you think I'm being unreasonable, let me know. Otherwise I'd appreciate it if we could debate this in this thread so that BFL can see what their clientbase considers to be a priority (or not if that's the case).
Since I expect him to become the sole forum contact, I would like Inaba to make a comment on this also once he has started at BFL and has been brought up to speed.
Thank you all for reading - let the debate begin.

So I've run a couple of dedicated mining rigs using GPUs for about 9 months, have recently added one BFL Single with 5 more on the way, a 6 BFL SC Singles coming (whenever they're released lol). To make a long story short, I can't run BAMT or scripts on my boxes, I have to run Windows with system drive encryption. In all the properties I've lived in here in FL there's these once a week at least 1-3 second transient power drops that cause all my hardware to reboot and sit idle until I get physically sit back down at it and get it all started up again. This usually takes 8-16 hours before I can get to it. So for this reason and with all this BFL hardware coming I finally dropped $200 bucks on an APC BX1500G 1500VA battery backup at my local Staples yesterday. I connected everything up and everything appeared to be working perfectly. However I noticed pretty quickly that one of the GPU miner boxes now crashes (video output just freezes, unit stops mining) every 30-120 minutes. It uses about 180W at load, has a single 5850 @ 915/300 (stock volts) and uses http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371033 for the PSU. I've had no problems with that PSU and it work's perfectly. I did notice right when I setup the APC UPS that that PSU makes an odd audible buzzing noise when it's running off battery power. So my question to you, fellow miners, is why does it do this? I don't understand why it would do this. I haven't had any problems with the HP Slimline tower that the BFL Single is connected to (or the BFL Single itself), or the other self built media server that I run off the same APC unit (it has a 380W SeaSonic PSU). Unfortunately I don't currently have the 7970 in the other dedicated GPU miner box because I'm prepping it for sale. However once I have to stock HSF back on I'll try that out too. I haven't had a lot of time to look at this issue yet but it's already crashed like 4 times and crashed in the night as well as shortly after I restarted it at 6PM. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I have not had a chance to call either APC or Antec yet. My other major concern is if running this battery backup is going to damage or destroy the hardware I have connected to it - specifically 6 FPGAs (and then 6 BFL ASICs). Running all the ASICs off this battery backup is the primary reason I spent money for it (money I could barely afford). Thanks, KIDC

I'm starting to wonder if bandwidth may become and issue. With my measurements I think I estimated about 6 GB/month per gigahash of mining power for total transfer, most of it being upload bandwidth. Since in 6 months I may very well be running 240 GH in ASICs, it's occurred to me that I may not be able to actually do that due to ISP limitations.
Any thoughts? I've tried looking around to see if there's information on this but I don't see much. Forgive me if this is a repost of a question that's already answered.
Thanks, KIDC

Hi all. I have three video cards I'm looking to sell.
1 x 5850 1 x 7970 1 x 6950 (unlocked to 6970, I may keep this one for myself for gaming)
All three are reference designs with huge aftermarket heatsinks on them. The 5850 has a Zalman VF3000 on it and the other two have Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus'es on them. They're way quieter than the stock fans but the extra size of the assembly makes them three slot cards. Currently I'm trying to find out if people would be interested in buying these. With my migration to FPGA/ASIC I don't really need them for anything else (barely have time to even game these days) and would like to get them sold. I'm also concerned about how I can ship them safely without damaging the cards or heatsinks. Does anybody have any suggestions? I guess if anybody is here with me on the Florida Space Coast then a possible in-person meet might be possible.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Please keep in mind that this is not the official sale thread. I'll make a new post for when I actually sell them with specific model numbers and other information.
Thanks for reading, KIDC
