1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / My BFL SC Single 60 went out in a puff of smoke - what next? on: November 22, 2013, 08:39:50 AM
Hi All,
I had my SC Single running nicely at 64 GH until a few days ago when it stopped hashing. I thought it may have been the power supply, and tried a brand new Corsair GS800 PSU. Anyhow, once connected, I heard a "crack" sound, no fans spun and a fair amount of smoke exited from near the middle of the PCB from underneath the smaller black heatsinks (not the ASICS). I doubt BFL will be any help, and with shipping to Australia taking so long+expensive - anyhow, has anyone else experienced this, and any suggestions on what I can try to fix it?
Cheers
2  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 2x In Hand AU Jalapeno 7GH firmware upgraded to 8+ GH 16.3GH on: August 16, 2013, 03:58:46 AM
Hi, I am offering for sale my two BFL Jalapenos that were purchased with the upgrade to 7GH.
I have flashed them with the ckolivas firmware and now they are currently hashing together at 16.3 GH combined.

These units are operating with the covers off and fans blowing down (as it is quieter, and runs cooler). BFL Power supply, USB Cable, BFL housing and BFL boxes are included.
I am located in Sydney Australia

Buy it now price is 8.75 BTC for one or both together for 16.75 BTC

Escrow fees with John K and Shipping are additional, to be paid by the buyer, if required

Thanks - item is sold.
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Chilling my Jalapenos [ Chill + Flash: 7.2 >> 8.15GH] on: June 25, 2013, 10:44:29 AM
So I received my second Jalapeno today and started it hashing immediately at 7.45 GH/s

Went home, put it in the freezer for 15 minutes while I set up power supply, made room etc.

(took it out of the freezer first)
Powered it up and it is now hashing on average at 7.75GH/s

so my results so far on the two I have received:

Jalapeno 1: Original average: 7.2 GH/s, After chill and power cycle, 7.63 GH/s Improvement = 6%
Jalapeno 2: Original average: 7.45 GH/s, After chill and power cycle, 7.75 GH/s Improvement = 4 %

anyhow, I'm enjoying the extra 730MH/s
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / BFL Jalapeno / Little Single Add On Chip Upgrade on: June 16, 2013, 05:34:02 AM
Hi,
just wondering with the chip sales and release of firmware - how likely do you think it will be that we can stick on up to 6 more chips in our Jalapenos (and little singles I guess) to make them earn their keep?
I was wondering if the guy with the IR rework station could do this it could be handy.
Any ideas on whether this could work?
i.e.

1. Disassemble board from assembly
2. Solder 1-6 additional chips to board
3. Flash firmware via JTAG to enable other all chips
4. Upgrade heatsink/fan
5. Rework power connector with PCIE?
6. ...
7. BTC profit ?  Smiley
