6  Economy / Speculation / People should use MBITS/mBTC/Millibits already ......... on: December 24, 2016, 10:26:52 AM
New people need to buy MBITS/mBTC/Millibits  instead of complaining  that WHOLE BITCOINS are too expensive as we see in numerous threads
if im a new investor in the gold market
i dont start off with  the largest denomination that exists 400oz/12.4KG  gold bar

Same with property investment ,start small and grow your wealth over years ,really no need to try and  be donald trump on your first day .....

buy a little ,whenever you can afford it .......and pretty soon you will have a nice little stack ...

8  Other / MultiBit / Is there a bug in multibit that makes the correct passphrase not work? on: October 22, 2016, 07:00:24 AM
I read some older posts about people complaining that their 100% correct password sometimes wouldn't unlock the wallet...

Is there any chance of this happening in the current version and if it does happen, are those bitcoins lost forever?

How could this even happen in the first place anyway?
9  Other / MultiBit / can anyone clarify how secure is Multibit HD actually ? on: September 28, 2016, 07:12:34 PM
i have been told that MB HD is less secure for large amounts than MB classic
due to the way the developers  fees are extracted and also privacy can be compromised more easily  ......

is there any truth in this ?

is there any danger of theft or could the developers take more than the agreed amount etc  ?

(i have kept cold storage in mb classic for years and found the security and convenience to be  excellent btw  )

11  Other / MultiBit / Help - Lost Multibit Password on: September 05, 2014, 09:08:44 AM
I have a multibit wallet i havent used since last  year with a lot of btc in it
the password is a long  mix of  numbers and words ,something like

"Chicken67895January1952586469643"

I have tried it as many times as i can think off and cant figure out why its keeps
saying its wrong ,there are only 2 capitalised letters and im pretty sure i didnt
enter it wrong twice in a row

any ideas ?

edit: i found 1 private key backup and it works with an older password but it still asking for the
wallet password and everything i enter is wrong with "could not decrypt bytes" error message
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / will high value wallets eventually be targeted and cracked? on: December 10, 2013, 10:49:46 PM
im not talking about the people with a hundred coins etc but more like 100k+

is it feasilble that a secure  wallet such as the dprs with 144,000btc could be cracked eventually
with more modern technology comes along or a group with powerful computers could work together
to brute force it ?

just interested in people storing offline ,when the prize is $100 mil or even a billion $  would those coins
still be there in say 10 years ?

ive tried a clean install over the top of it but its not helping

its stuck on block 189751 and its refusing to download any more of the chain so the coins can not and will not arrive at this wallet until i can get it fixed
