1  Economy / Services / btc for advice, spec out laptop from bitcoinstore for me on: March 19, 2013, 05:42:55 PM
i'm looking for a new laptop and will be buying through bitcoinstore.    i've not been keeping up on brands and models, so will pay someone 0.25 btc to give me buying advice (max maybe forty minutes of your time).

pm me with a sentence or two about what you know about laptops in the $1k and under range, and in a half hour i'll choose from the submissions a person to be my buying agent for this.
2  Economy / Services / Mass production of the Mario Dollar on: March 10, 2013, 11:00:00 AM
how do i obtain mario $1 bills?

i will pay bitcoins to receive these in the mail, so if you can do this i am interested in a quote.  though I would require an escrow partner, your privacy would be protected thanks to bitcoin's pseudonymity.

alternatively I will consider compensating for the pdf (or svg) so that I can produce these with my own color laser printer if it is as simple as running sheet stock of u.s. currency through my own color laser printer.

this will be for my personal collection and/or for gifting and these are not meant to be re-introduced for re-circulation, but the paper being printed on must be legal tender.

this would be for delivery within the u.s.  qty 10 or 20 send regular mail with proof of mailing.   qty > 20 sent priority mail.
3  Other / Meta / at what point should bitcointalk rid itself of the alt-coin circuses? on: July 26, 2012, 10:58:22 PM
time to put a little more distance in between bitcoin and these things that clearly are not helping bitcoin
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / KoinMail - Anyone use? on: April 16, 2012, 12:02:31 AM
there was recently a new exchange that was added to the list on the merchants / trade page in the bitcoin wiki: https://www.koinmail.com

they claim to ship out EUR notes.

they do show the following address:

KoinMail Services
18 Avenue Berthie Albrecht
83120 Ste-Maxime
Golfe de St Tropez
France

this exchange has no reviews and was not announced here on the forum yet.  the address has not been  be verified by anyone, but since they only ship out and do not receive at that address, it might never get verified as truly being the operator's address.

what is concerning is that this cannot be "sampled" using like a 10 EUR payment .... the minimum order is 200 100 EUR.

so if it is a scam, by the time anyone knows there could be hundreds of EUR worth of bitcoins gone.
5  Bitcoin / Legal / statue of limitations for money laundering on: January 03, 2012, 08:28:33 AM
"A five year criminal statute of limitations applies to all money laundering violations of 18 USC §1956 and 18 USC §1957. The five year statute also applies to violations of 18 USC §1960 absent any other specific provision. The statute of limitations runs from the date on which the money laundering offense was completed".
http://www.irs.gov/irm/part9/irm_09-005-005.html#d0e64

so if the money launderer only receives bitcoins and never spends them until 5 years has passed, wouldn't it be a.) be hard to prove guilt b.) cause the money launderer to go insane during those five years from fighting the temptation to spend as the value skyrockets?
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / embedded ascii in the blockchain on: August 01, 2011, 06:53:16 AM

Quote
Dan Kaminsky figured out a way to embed ascii text into the block chain. I did not try to find out how he did it, but he probably created some transactions that include those strings. If you want to find out more about how he did it, he will give a talk at the Chaois Communications Camp related to Bitcoin.

is there already discussion about this here?

fortunately with most mining done on pools and this being something not in the pool owner's best interest, the frequency of it occuring further should be low.   but how will this be solved?
