1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin-24.com, Bitcoin.de(?) hacks on: October 31, 2012, 05:03:35 PM
This thread was established to keep track of the two incidents.

1) Bitcoin-24.com suffered a attack on 31th of October 2012 (announced):

http://bitcoin24.zendesk.com/entries/22278332-mysqli-31-10-2012-server-attack

The maintainer had a strictily limitied hot wallet, which made it sometimes cumbersome for users to withdraw coins but should have limited the damage. He is willing to compensate everbodies losses, which the intruder managed to inflict by stealing the API-Keys that where enabled by default. It seems that the exchange itself didn't suffer any large damage in confidence since losses are compensated and business is back to usual. Only the API feature will be disabled for a while.

2) At the same time bitcoin.de is unreachable for at least about an hour, no further informations found. Maybe just maintenance work, but you never know.

UPDATE: At least apache is back online:

www.bitcoin.de:

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

2  Other / Beginners & Help / Informations about neteller service on: August 16, 2012, 11:45:57 AM
Hi,

I just stumbled upon neteller, it seems to be an established quasi-bank service like paypal et al.. A lot of people trading bitcoins seem to use it. But I do lack some informations about that service. This should also be regarded as a profile for the neteller service for those who are interested in the service. Maybe someone in here has an aswer to one or more of these questions:

1. I assume that you have to identify with some sort of documents as a real person, right?
2. Would one be able to have an account with diffrent currency accounts in it, or just on currency per accout?
3. Neteller is based on the Isle of Man and under british juristinction what does that mean legaly for the account holder?
4. The US and China seem to be not quite happy about neteller (owner got arrested back in 2007 in the US). https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77776.0 Are US-citizen able to use the service?

Thanks alot!
