1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is Quadrigacx Manipulating price? (unintentionally?) on: February 05, 2018, 02:11:53 AM
Hello everyone, I started this topic because I feel something is going on at one of the larger Canadian crypto exchanges "Quadrigacx".

For a while now it has not been possible to deposit funds to "Quadrigacx" through conventional methods.. Yes if you go to their funding page you will see a variety of options (all except one with significant deposit fees) However if you attempt to use them you will get the following error message.

"(funding method) funding is currently unavailable. In the meantime, please consider Interac Online or USD Bank Wire funding."

Both methods are fairly difficult to use, (I myself attempted to get an interact online debit card from Scotiabank to no avail, (despite them saying they have the service on their website, even if I was to eventually gain access to this funding method the limit is a paltry 2000 per transfer up to 4000 per day.(and pay 1.5% for the service))

Sure I could fund with a USD bank wire (to a Canadian exchange?) and lose significantly on the illiquid  USD/BTC rate offered but that's not really an option.

Basically, we have a situation where its exceedingly difficult to get fiat onto the exchange.

However, Quadrigacx has proved themselves more than competent at getting fiat withdrawn from the exchange during this time of deposit restrictions.

Earlier I deposited crypto, sold and withdrew via EFT, within a few days the money showed up in my bank account, despite some transfers being over 10,000$.

In Conclusion we have an exchange where it is EASY to sell crypto, withdraw funds from the exchange.  But VERY DIFFICULT to deposit fiat to purchase crypto.  What do you think is going to happen to the price when you allow anyone to sell crypto, but essentially restrict 95% of the potential investors from getting their fiat onto the exchange to make purchases.

I, therefore, think that whilst potentially unintentional Quadrigacx is forcing the price of crypto's on their platform down.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / wallet.dat Recovery help! (Solved) on: December 30, 2017, 09:10:29 PM
(im using a mac)

Hey, I have some old wallet.dat files I'm trying to recover/access. In the process of downloading bitcoin core. I tried to replace the automatically generated wallet.dat file with my wallet.dat file(s) and it gives me a "corrupted unable to recover" message,  both the wallets are very old, pre-forks.

I have since installed pywallet and its associated dependencies and get the following error when trying to dump the  VALID autogenerated wallet.dat file from the bitcoin core with pywallet.

'ecdsa' package is not installed, pywallet won't be able to sign/verify messages

Basically a whole lot of wallet data not recognized messages.

this is the final message,

I will be paying a bounty of at-least 200$ for assistance with this, possibly much more if there's a substantial amount in the wallet and I gain access to it.

4  Economy / Goods / Walters Handcrafted Personalised Artisan Slingshots on: May 07, 2014, 06:14:08 AM
Hello, I made this topic to help my uncle Walter out with a hobby of his.

What does Walter do? Well he loves woodworking, specifically he loves to make slingshots!

What can he do? Well for starters he can make ANY wood/wood-hybrid slingshot on this website

http://www.simple-shot.com/collections/guild-craftsmen-custom?page=1

(he used to make slingshots for them a while ago)

Naturally all the things he makes are Hand made, probably more "hand made" than most if not all slingshots you will find,
this is because he prefers to use his hands rather than use electric or motorized equipment, infact right now he is sanding down a slingshot by hand and has been for about 45 minutes now.

To my understanding there is no real limit to what he would be capable of making with regards to wooden slingshots, if you know what you want simply ask and it will be done provided the price is right.

Speaking of which, I can gurantee you that Walter can produce anything for a lower price than any of the competition, this is because he enjoys doing what he does and doesn't mind giving a good deal.

Here are a few examples of some of his work

PRICING:
Depends on a variety of factors and can vary greatly, however as a general guide the cheapest Sling-Shot will run for approximately 0.16 BTC (75$) unless you are willing to compromise on materials etc. , the cheapest PFS (pickle fork shooter/ tiny slingshot) would however only cost 0.058 (25$)
Naturally the sky is the limit with regards to price, depending on the materials requested and hours of labor.

SHIPPING
15$ for international shipments  (5-10 business days)
7$  for domestic within Australia (within 5 business days)
Express shipping available upon request.

ORDER COMPLETION TIME

This depends on the complexity of the request, however typically from start to finish it takes about 5 days.

OTHER REQUESTS

Walter also enjoys making custom knife handles (hunting, cutlery etc), but he is capable of making just about anything wooden, just ask and i am sure it can be done!

escrow can be arranged if requested

Looking to buy BTC in Canada. Preferably in bulk. Basing rates off Cavirtex. In person transactions. Paying in Cash, Gold or silver.
If you are willing to sell at the right price in the right quantity i will arrange for my transportation to where-ever you are located.

If in southern Ontario within a few hours of Toronto i can also buy in smaller quantities.

As stated earlier these transactions will occur in person, (unless its for something smaller that you feel comfortable accepting an Interac e-transfer with). I have no intention of scamming.
If you are hoping to mug me please look elsewhere and don't waste my time.  Appropriate security measures will be taken.

15  Economy / Goods / Selling Some Cigars from Cuba on: July 04, 2013, 03:37:25 PM
Hey guys! i just came back from my trip to Cuba and picked up a few boxes of cigars because i figured they would be cheaper in Cuba than the rest of the world, and thought there might be a few cigar smokers here. I was on a tight budget so i only have two boxes..

First box:

25 Romeo Y Julieta Exhibicion No. 4

http://www.cigars-review.org/Romeo-y-Julieta-Exhibicion-No-4.htm

Second box:

10 Cohiba Genios
(these come in a beautiful box i was told)

http://www.cigars-review.org/Cohiba-Genios.htm

All are in the original packaging from the factory store where i purchased them from. Boxes have not been opened.  They come with all necessary documentation enclosed to ensure legitness. I was approached numerous times to purchase cigars from men on the streets in Havana for 50 cents instead of 50$ however it is not my intention to sell tobacco rolled in banana leafs. Escrow is fine and i have no problem paying for it.

Post offers privately or publicly.
Will not sell below purchase price.

OK is anyone else having problems checking up on the KNCMiner website?  I cant seem to connect at the moment. If anyone has any information pertaining to this it would be greatly appreciated. also sending 0.01 Btc to the first person to reply to this topic if a reply happens within 2 minutes of me posting this.

EDIT: thier website appears online now. did anyone else have an outage?

18  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB]- INEFFICIENT MINING RIGS!! on: September 15, 2012, 09:05:54 AM
Hello all! im looking to purchase some mining rigs at the lowest possible cost for the highest possible Gh/sec, i do not care if its 1Gh/sec and takes 1000W. I am under an unlimited electricity lease with no fair use policy and i have confirmed with the building manager i could "run 12 air conditioning units" if i wanted to.

for the moment ill set my budget at 700 BTC.

Understandably i am not interested in FPGA's because power consumption does not matter to me.

Yes i know i dont have many posts. ill use an escrow to send the funds to if i dont trust you, if i find you trustworthy ill send the BTC first without an escrow.
