1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Wow, 7 or more pages back to find an S3 thread on: November 06, 2015, 09:09:12 AM
I want to balance my two chosen pools at 10% and 90%. I find the balance/load balance/fail over settings but they don't address my issue.
How in simple cut and paste terms can I get to that 'qouta' option that I do believe exists?
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Can someone briefly explain 'Load' on an S3 on: October 19, 2015, 09:04:33 PM
Currently my S3 shows this:

Load: 1.36 1.45 1.39

I know it's not important to me because the S3 runs as expected, still I'd like to know what load means.
3  Other / Meta / Unauthorized signature ads being added to posts. on: October 13, 2015, 06:27:12 PM
I made a post today and when I came back to see if any replies, someone added a sig ad.
Poking around, I found that a number of original posts had a sig ad. Like mine, I bet that
many of these are not placed by the poster.  Any thought's on how this is happening and how to stop it?
(lets see if this post gets an ad)
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Undervolt S3 line voltage with variac. What would happen? on: October 13, 2015, 01:00:26 PM
I'm sure this would be ridiculous even to me if I half knew what I was asking but..
Suppose I simply plugged an S3 into a variable transformer, started it out at full line voltage, and slowly tweaked the voltage down.
I'm guessing it would work to a point because many homes have less than 'advertised' line voltage.
I'm sure it would just shut down at some point but would I burn anything out or ruin my miner by trying this?
Essentially I'm wanting to run at around 100 watts on my kill-O-watt meter and I only expect around 80/100 Gh.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Old but forever new on: October 04, 2015, 07:59:32 PM
Just a thank you to all. When I first came here, ck taught me how to mine. I was a slow learner, probably took me two weeks to get my first 7970 to actually generate shares.  So much for the past.
This and here and now is an equally excellent adventure and I feel the same sort of enthusiasm I had at the start. So, thank you to anyone and everyone who shares their thoughts and ideas.

I'm thinking of opening a new account under the screen name "village idiot" (if it hasn't already been claimed).
The premise is that even folks with elevating rankings don't have all the answers they need, I'm what, a full member, and I don't know squat.
I swear I've seen senior or hero members asking essentially how to use a power supply cable . There's topsy and there's turvy.

I envision a 'thread' where no ones identity is revealed, yes your ranking would be useful to tailor the responses a bit. I personally wouldn't be giving any answers unless I felt competent to do so. Anyone who responds to a question would be ethically responsible, and obviously we're not going to ask for your trading secrets.

I'm thinking about 'stupid stuff ', the things you're embarrassed to ask.

e.g. when mining if I get a share greater than the network difficulty, does that automatically mean I found, won, solved, a block?.  Do I get the coins?  And now that I got the coins, the question remains..did I find it, win it, or solve it.

On the other hand, there may be questions like 'will my 12 volt power supply be enough to run my 5 volt usb hub'.

So there you can see, there are those of us in the 'middle'.

I can't answer the first question but I know the answer to the second (you need a 5v PS with as many amps as you can afford to run what you're dreaming of).

Just a thought, pretty much the only one I've had today.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / blockchain explorer can't find my transaction on: September 12, 2015, 04:21:20 PM
Yesterday I sent .234 btc to a known good address and my bitcoin core v11 wallet shows 95 (and growing) confirmations.
When I looked up the transaction number on a couple of chain explorers they all say 'not found'.
Is there a simple explanation? Should I be worried??

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core 0.9.3 active connections on: May 13, 2015, 02:50:48 PM
I have 15 active connections and have never had more than 8.
I thought 8 was the limit?
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Setting up Drillbit Fury Thumb- SOLVED- Now need OC help on: May 10, 2015, 02:13:19 PM
Hey all,
This is the Fury Thumb from the original v1.2 group buy, not avalon.
The drillbit forum used to have everything I need
but it is offline. Even wayback machine can't find it.

I used to run it with cgminer and a shortcut that you
used as the target. It contained the path, drillbit options, timing,
and more.  I pretty much need it in cut and paste format as I never
really understood it, only that it worked.

There were also reset instructions where you crossed a couple of pins
until the led flashed differently.

Lastly, and not crucial at the moment, there were instructions on
overclocking,  but getting it running is whats important now.

I'll appreciate the help.

9  Other / Meta / The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limit on: May 01, 2014, 09:07:20 PM
I tried to read this thread ..'I just gave a homeless man 20 btc'. I wasn't allowed in.
Why would a topic be off limits to me?  I know it's not missing because it's on today's hottest thread list. Huh

10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Do multiple Block Erupters behave as a whole or as individuals? on: October 01, 2013, 10:26:05 PM
My 63 Block Erupters are hashing away merrily on one machine with one bfgminer.
I'm  playing around with pool share difficulties looking for significant 24 hour differences.
Do I  have 63 335Mh miners or one 20Gh miner.  I imagine the answer is both but how do these individuals work in unison on the same problem at the same time?   Huh
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Hello bitcointalk on: August 18, 2013, 04:29:35 PM
Hello All,
I've been a reader for around 2 years and pretty much everything I know about mining I learned here. Honestly, I would have gotten nowhere without Con Colivas Cgminer thread. He's a hero.
I mine, more accurately mined, with 7970's. I started late but believe I've come out ahead.  BTC is over for me, at least directly.
Lately I'm attempting Scrypt mining (BTC seems easy now). 550 Kh/s is my best to date Cry
I hope to keep learning. Perhaps one day I'll return something useful.  My thanks go out to everyone who shares their knowledge (and personality) here. This is an awesome place!
