Hello All! Would you like to receive some or all of your pay in bitcoin?? I'm working with a company creating payroll-to-bitcoin service. Essentially, it takes your direct deposit, turns it into bitcoin, and then sends the bitcoin to an address you control. We're trying to get some initial feedback and we've create a super short survey. http://paybits.netCheers!

Is it possible to construct a transaction such that if the coins are not spent after some pre-determined time period the transaction becomes null?
For example, I want to give 1 btc as a gift, but I don't want that gift to be thrown away.... I create a transaction that says I will spend 1 btc to address A. The coins can be spent from address A by the appropriate private key for 1 year. However, after 1 year the coins can no longer be spent and the original sender is free to re-spend the coins.

Hey All! I created a bitcoin Zippo lighter to trade for Jalapenos, but no one took me up on my offer to trade. I've sold a few and I'm getting ready to place another order. I just thought this might be something fun to do. You can find the story of the artwork on the lighter here. Let me know either via PM or in this thread if you are interested and I'll put in an order for you. Currently I have the following orders: elasticband x 1 thomashrev89 x 2 DobZombie x 1 Bitweasil x 1 The price is 0.31 BTC for delivery in the US and 0.36 BTC for international orders. I want to place the order on Monday, October 28 - let me know before then and I'll order you one. You can send your btc to this address: 1HhY3mPvkHxz6RFEhsFwk1FDj5TMnMxu5H But just make sure you PM me with your transaction id, and delivery address. I hope you enjoy!

Hey All!
I have a Corsair RM850. It's powered on using the paper clip trick and it's drawing about 283 watts at the wall.
It runs fine for about 1 or so hours and then shuts off.
I have a friend who was using an RM850 to power a couple of BFL 60Gh units and he reported the same thing.
He put a fan blowing across the units and said it fixed the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem???
Cheers!

I’d like to trade a Zippo lighter with original bitcoin mining artwork for 1 Butterfly Labs Jalapeno. Here's a picture of the actual lighter: I commissioned the artwork from Daniel Teran. His artwork is incredible and vivid and it can be seen on his web site – www.danielteran.com. Even if you aren’t interested in the trade and you like his artwork - give him a shout out. I have several of these lighters and can order more if there is any demand. I thought this might be something fun to do and it will leave you with something tangible, and cool, after the great difficulty increase. Cheers!

Why aren't airline reward points considered a centrally issued virtual currency? FinCEN States: In contrast to real currency, "virtual" currency is a medium of exchange that operates like a currency in some environments, but does not have all the attributes of real currency. In particular, virtual currency does not have legal tender status in any jurisdiction. This guidance addresses "convertible" virtual currency. This type of virtual currency either has an equivalent value in real currency, or acts as a substitute for real currency. It seems to me airline rewards have an equivalent value in real currency and clearly act as a substitute for real currency.

Это за шесть устройств (120 GH.s каждый). Предпочитаю продать все сразу. Хотя это не аукцион - я буду рассматривать преложения в 150 btc и выше. Устройства находятся в Москве.

I've held off on posting this... Thinking someone else would illuminate the obvious....
But the reality is... Your avalon chips are actively hashing right now. I'm sorry, but you aren't going to be receiving your chips.
Yifu has lost control of his influence in BitSynCom and, as per their agreement, the others are actively producing chips and bringing those chips onto the network.
I have every belief YiFu is a stand-up guy and is trying to to what's best, but the reality is he has been beat down by members of his own team.
The chips destined for orders have been, shall we say, acquired, and will not be delivered to their intended recipients.
Which brings me to my larger point.... ASIC chips are in the wild in china and will replicate like rabbits smothering the hash rate and sending difficulty to the moon. Are you prepared for this?
Yifu - prove me wrong. Please. Let everyone know where are the chips? Tell us that your colleagues aren't actively producing personal avalon chips based off of the BitSynCom design. Please.

Hello,
I have 4 - Batch 1 Avalon Units that are currently hashing 70-72 Gh/s each.
These are three module units that have been 100% data center housed. Clean environment, 18C ambient temperature 24/7.
I will sell individually, or with a discount for all four. I am asking 85 btc per unit.

I can't figure out how to hedge difficulty increases. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Here's what I have: 1. August 6 - Difficulty 37,392,766 2. I have purchased miners for 0.14 per Gh/s 3. The table below represents the net income (mined btc - miner cost ) for 6 months of mining, per Gh/s, based on three separate delivery dates for miners (October, November, December) at 5 different possible difficulty increase levels. BTC Profit per Gh/s at various delivery dates and difficulty increase levels| Difficulty Increase | Oct 1 | Nov 1 | Dec 1 | | 15% | 0.49 | 0.26 | 0.13 | | 20% | 0.20 | 0.10 | (0.00) | | 25% | 0.09 | (0.02) | (0.08) | | 30% | 0.01 | (0.09) | (0.12) | | 35% | (0.06) | (0.11) | (0.13) |
Assume, I believe I'll have miners in hand on October 1 and difficulty will increase linearly at 25%. What difficulty futures should I purchase to maximize the mining income? Specifically, at what strike price, and what quantity.

Hello,
I'm looking for the slides used during Brewster Kahle's presentation (Internet Archive's Use of Bitcoin) at the Bitcoin 2013 Conference. Does anyone have access to them?
Cheers!

I've create a spreadsheet to roughly estimate the coming mining difficulty. It estimates the anticipated hash rate of the network each month until December. I don't realistically expect anyone could have visibility past december. That being said, after December, the spreadsheet calculates a flat 10% growth per month. The idea is to determine what the break even cost (B/E) for a mining unit might be. For example, if you could obtain a 66 Gh/s unit starting in June, your 6 month profit would be estimated at 83 btc. Therefore, as long as you pay under 83 btc for the unit you will make a profit in 6 months. However, if you were to acquire the same unit in October, then your B/E price over 6 months would be 25 btc. I've chosen 6 months as the timeframe because I believe there is simply too much risk / variability past 6 months to accurately calculate a ROI. The spreadsheet calculates the anticipated hash rate, shows an anticipated network difficulty, and then calculates the estimated btc / day rate based on the network hash rate. I would welcome any discussion as to the formulas in the spreadsheet and the assumptions underlying when each company would bring their hash rate to the network. The spreadsheet can be accessed here. Cheers!

How do you calculate the possible hashing variance of a miner?
Say to have an Avalon that's rated at 66 GH/s. You are on a pool giving you diff 64 shares.
What would be the minimum and maximum hash rates you'd expect to see?

I need some help understanding what I'm looking at on the cgminer status page.
1. There is an Avalon Hash Rate and a Summary Hash rate. What's the difference?
2. What are normal values for the fans? Which fans should be working?
3. What are normal values for the temperature. Which temperatures should be working?
4. What's NMW?
5. What is the Miner Count and the Asic Count and how do they relate to the number of modules?
6. What's Local Work - or more specifically what data is changed locally?
7. What's Get Work when using Stratum?
8. What is Network Block?
--------------------------------------
I've answered some of my own questions from the cgminer API-README file.
Diff1 = The number of Difficulty 1 shares generated DiffA = The number of Diff1 shares accepted DiffR = The number of Diff1 shares rejected LSD = Last Share Difficulty
Discarded = stale shares that cgminer knew were stale so it didn't even send them back to the pool
---------------------------------------
Thanks!
