1  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying bitcoins at market rate (sell me your btc) on: June 10, 2015, 09:38:22 PM
Not charging a markup on this, I just want to buy some btc at bitstamp rate.  If you want a straightforward no-hassle trade, make me an offer.

Rules:

You go first, unless you're trusted.
You pay any postage or fees (if applicable).
I'm not always online, but I will usually reply within 24 hours.

Payment methods offered:

Cash in mail (USD)
Money order
Gift cards
I buy something for you
I reload your prepaid card

If none of the above work for you, we could discuss something else.  For example, I could make a deposit into your bank account, but it would depend on which bank and whether there is a branch nearby.

[EDIT] Current cash available: $0 (closed for now)
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / ID required to send money to Arizona? on: June 06, 2015, 07:12:10 PM
Today I sent some money using Western Union.  The WU guy told me that they are now required to check IDs on anyone who sends money to Arizona.  WTF?  Fortunately I wasn't sending to AZ, so they didn't bother.

I dunno what they're doing with this info, but just a heads up to anyone trading to/from Arizona...
3  Economy / Currency exchange / [SOLD] $500 Vanilla Visa gift card on: February 06, 2015, 03:40:46 AM
For sale: Vanilla Visa gift card with $500 balance.  Will accept BTC (or if you're trusted, paypal).

I can mail the card to you if you want, or just give you the number so you can shop online.

Full disclosure:  I bought this visa gift card and tried to use it with paypal.  Apparently Paypal has blacklisted certain visa gift cards, and I didn't know this.  The payment initially went through, but the next day paypal froze the funds and eventually reversed the transaction.  Since I can't use this gift card for what I originally intended, I'm selling it.  You can use this visa gift card at most places in the USA that accept Visa, but not with Paypal.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Paypal denial of service on: February 07, 2013, 07:42:01 PM
Apparently it is possible to perform a denial-of-service attack on someone's paypal account, just by trying to log in repeatedly with an incorrect password.

There has been a delay in issuing PayPal payments.  Our login used for mass disbursement has been locked for security reasons.  The account is not frozen.  PayPal detected multiple attempted unauthorized logins and locked the login.  For security reasons we have chosen to not allow login unlocks by email so it requires a delay and authentication offline.  There is no risk to company funds.  Using our limited access login I have verified that there has been no unauthorized disbursements and the account balance matches our internal records.  We use two factor authentication to protect our PayPal and exchange accounts for this reason.

In speaking with PayPal corporate support, login access for fund disbursement to be restored within the hour.

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / SCAMMER: caradenada on: December 05, 2012, 03:17:26 AM
On October 9, I bought a virtual credit card (VCC) from Cara de Nada (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=116960) and used it to purchase something online.  On November 16, the merchant complained of a chargeback.

I contacted caradenada and asked him to withdraw the chargeback.  He repeatedly denied making the chargeback.  The chargeback was not resolved.

On December 4, I received another chargeback notice for a different purchase.

It is now apparent that caradenada is a scammer, and has no intention of repaying the people he stole from.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / BTCLot VCC on: October 09, 2012, 06:13:19 PM
I recently purchased a virtual credit card from btclot.com.  It works, but the process is not speedy.

I signed up for btclot, logged in and got a deposit address.  I sent some bitcoins.  It showed up as unverified, then after an hour it showed as verified.  So then I clicked 'Send your Bitcoins to Bitstamp', and the money disappeared.  After another hour, it showed up in 'Bitstamp BTC balance'.  Then I clicked 'Instant Sell'.  Well, the sell is instant, but the money isn't.  I then had to wait for bitstamp to send the EUR to BTCLot, which took 2 days.  After that, I was able to get a mastercard number.

I used the mastercard to buy something online.  There were a few euros left over.  I don't know if I will eventually get that back, or if I just lose it.
