1  Economy / Exchanges / Bitcoin credit card? on: May 05, 2017, 04:47:10 AM
I remember hearing something about a bitcoin credit card. Like, one that you pay for everything with fiat on credit, and then you pay off your bill in bitcoin. So you never have to hold fiat if you don't want to.

What's the best/most reliable credit card that does this?
2  Economy / Speculation / 30-40 dollar drop coming on: April 13, 2013, 05:50:11 AM

3  Economy / Economics / The discipline of the market on: April 11, 2013, 11:05:05 PM

5  Economy / Trading Discussion / When is MtGox going to upgrade their hardware? on: April 10, 2013, 10:17:39 PM
They are clearly far below industry standard for such value of transactions. Have they even addressed this issue? We had 70 minute lag
6  Economy / Currency exchange / Looking to buy BTC on: April 10, 2013, 04:37:47 AM
Sick of the hoops to jump through, hidden fees and incompetence of services etc.
Anyway, I'm looking for 2 BTC right now, so make me an offer and suggest a way to do it.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitinstant online bank transfer? on: April 10, 2013, 02:27:41 AM
Why is it mentioned in the "how it works" but it is not actually an option in the dropdown menu?
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Are exchanges upgrading their hardware? on: April 10, 2013, 02:02:45 AM
I switched to bitcoin-24, and they are a lot better than Mtgox particularly when it comes to lag, but they are subject to it as well. Do we have any reason to believe these exchanges are bringing their capacities nearer to that of "real" online trading platforms? I may go back to mtgox if they have addressed this
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Casascius and other physical bitcoins on: April 10, 2013, 12:50:36 AM
Casascius in particular; are they ramping up their security and anti-tamper methods? Particularly since they have coins that are in five and ten denominations. What happens when bitcoin reaches 5000 dollars a coin? for even a 1 BTC physical coin, it would be economical to use industrial-grade tampering/bypass methods to get the code out of the coin without evidence of tampering.

So my question is this: how well can their security scale? And are they shifting to much lower denominations? The website was unclear
10  Economy / Economics / This current frenzy only proves that a "deflationary spiral" cannot be permanent on: April 09, 2013, 11:33:33 PM
Unless you believe there is such thing as a permanent asset bubble (there is not), you cannot believe in permanent deflationary spirals. A deflationary spiral is simply a bubble for money. People "hoard" securities during bubbles, and money is no different.

So unless you believe in bubbles that literally do not end, you reject the notion that central banking is required to expand the money supply to stop deflation.

And let's say this isn't a bubble at all (it may not be). That means mass adoption will occur and BTC takes a bite out of the fiat market share. so the speculation was rational and justified.

A currency with around 100% adoption rate cannot have this luxury; mass adoption has already reached its limit, and it can only be a bubble.
11  Economy / Invites & Accounts / EVE Online account on: April 09, 2013, 11:28:04 PM
Anyone interested in getting an EVE online account with about one year worth of skill points/work put into it (15 million SP)
https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/24919-eve-online-15m-skillpoint-combat-account

Basically has everything you'd want need to kill stuff well, be useful, and have fun in this unique game. The skillpoint floor for joining the best corporations/alliances (player empires) is usually around 10 million skill points.
12  Bitcoin / Mining / USD/terahash on: March 09, 2013, 07:13:19 PM
So, has the amount of USD gained per terahash in mining remained consistent? What is it at now?
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Sierra Charts trial expired on: March 06, 2013, 10:45:44 PM
I used sierracharts for bitcoins, but can't load up the chart since the trial is over. Any way to circumvent this?
14  Economy / Service Discussion / mtgox API on: March 04, 2013, 10:56:52 PM
I am thinking of making an app for bitcoin, and I'd like to pull data from mtgox. Does anyone have info on this? RSS or anything?
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Price per Terahash? on: March 04, 2013, 09:47:09 PM
Does anyone have a chart to show how much price per terahash has been historically, or what it is on average?
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What bitcoin needs is mainstream-like banking institutions on: March 04, 2013, 09:22:52 PM
Before you plot on murdering me and deleting my posts, I'm not talking about the fiat quasi-government banking that we are used to. I am talking about accountable institutions that can manage the currency for people in a way that people rely on.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_banking

If bitcoin is ever going to crawl out of the hole that is illegal activity and geekdom, it will need mass adoption. This does not mean the number of adopters, but how deep these people use bitcoin.

Just like people don't keep all of their money in 100 dollar bills in a safe in their home, do you think the average person is going to be able to psychologically deal with having $30,000 of their savings on some linux partition of a computer? This just is not feasible for basically everyone. Even the nerdiest nerds won't do this, the ones that can actually competently deal with the security ramifications.

Consistent accessibility and payment is what bitcoin needs for people to deeply invest and adopt it. I feel as though there is a "banking is evil" sentiment in this community, which makes sense concerning some aspects of today's system, but not about the concept of banking in general.
17  Economy / Speculation / Irrational exuberance is going to dry up on: March 04, 2013, 06:22:22 PM
once those people spend themselves out of the market. The price is going to fall back to around ~$34
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is the closest we have to a bitcoin bank? on: March 04, 2013, 01:56:01 AM
Having an account for debit, easy transfers, etc. What is the closest to a bank?
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Building ASICs on: October 09, 2012, 08:16:59 AM
I know next to nothing about computer hardware, but doesn't creating specialized computing devices require an industrial operation? As in a teams of trained experts, large specialized tools, specific materials. How do the no names supposedly creating bitcoin ASICs do it? Am I overestimating the requirements for mass producing computers?
20  Economy / Speculation / I have reason to believe there is a correction happening on: October 07, 2012, 05:04:34 AM
And I think there will be reversal hysteria before it corrects downward again. The price of bitcoin is currently inflated by speculation, and isn't proportional to time value (market interest rates) immanentizing expected supply changes, nor have there been any groundbreaking bitcoin commerce developments compared to failed markets/scams. I would turn your bitcoins into USD for now.
