3  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Tarnished image on: June 15, 2013, 03:32:20 PM
These are just my feelings on the whole Idea of Bitcoin. In all honesty I see a very hostile environment. As a new person to bitcoin I can't see this as a welcoming forum. I see the same as every other aspect of society.

The leaders seem to be on the take, the manufactures of devices either only accept bitcoins which someone who is starting does not have or accept pre-orders and ship after ROI has almost vanished. The difficulty is rising so fast that in order to make more than breaking even one must make a large sunk cost to have any chance.

There is no avenue for small investors that empathizes with the motto of Bitcoin decentralization. At the same time I don't want to say I am naive to believe that companies and or organization would give out free opportunities. So why would anyone want to invest in something that is so hostile to new people.

As the only reason why I sit here on this forum is to see how this all ends up. Me being curios is the only reason as to why I sit here and watch the worst of humanity conducts its business.

GPU's are dead
small Asics are sold in large batches to stay above the difficulty curve to be able to make money. I don't know about you but I don't trust group buys
Asics are going to less decentralized members

There is no room for me. To be honest I think I never was in and although I have tried and have given bitcoin more than enough of my attention I have seen the worst in people.

I'll watch some more and then go on to other things. Hope that does not happen in a large scale.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I have a suggestion for a new currency on: May 30, 2013, 05:12:27 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195805.msg2320167#msg2320167

I will quote it here.

Well it's almost 30 days later and it's about 0.13 of a bitcoin however I am still interested in the currency. I don't know why, mostly watching and I tried to mine it however it seems difficult. I'm very late to all currencies and most alts seem to suggest quite a bit of hubris at the start and slowly shrink and find their spot on the market some just die all together.

Mostly from people losing interest and also jealousy from pre-mining. I know everyone knows this and is not needed by me to tell everyone.

Now I'm not currency expert but if you want to keep people attention (the right people) and you just can't really do anything about the premining of early adopters then why not have the coin offer smaller rewards at the beginning and increase as time goes on and then stops increasing at a point.

1-100k blocks  rewards     1 coins
100k -500k rewards         10 coin
500k-1m rewards            50 coins
1m-5m rewards              75 coins
5m-10m rewards            100 coins

Basically the reward is according to the currencies money supply. The more that exists the greater the reward as it matures gaining the interest of all types of currency adopters from miners to speculators. This also keeps the currency alive with miners and the processing of transactions going.

This is just a rough example just to show the idea in practice

This will make the later adopters interested and NOT jealous
this will make everyone keep interest in mining.
This will have people hold on to the currency and not dump it
This will have people interesting in investing into the currency.

I believe it solves a great deal of the issues we are seeing with alt-currencies today.

What do you guys think? Is it doable?
5  Other / Off-topic / Wanna bet BFL miraculously has rigs and sigles in stock now? on: May 03, 2013, 09:23:51 AM
I wonder if Josh will now start having available the ASIC mini rig units to ship now that bit coin is dropping below 85 dollars. I been watching btce all day and bitcoin reached 85 and still dropping.

Now it could go back up in a week but if it stays low or goes lower I suspect he will have the rigs available again.

Wait a minute!!!

Where does he have them?

Why on his pool called Eclipse.

lol

6  Bitcoin / Pools / [P2POOL] Beginners Easy step by step Set Up [LTC] With Screen Captures on: March 20, 2013, 05:27:56 PM
Thought an easy visual guide to help people onto a real decentralized pool would help the cause. Although its for litecoin I'm sure it will help for new bitcoin users too.

If this is in the wrong place please move it to where it will help or let me know.

When you're alone
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go downtown
When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown

Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?

The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
Downtown, things'll be great when you're
Downtown, no finer place for sure,
Downtown, everything's waiting for you
(Downtown)

Don't hang around
And let your problems surround you
There are movie shows downtown
Maybe you know
Some little places to go to
Where they never close downtown

Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossanova
You'll be dancing with 'em too before the night is over
Happy again

The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
Downtown where all the lights are bright,
Downtown, waiting for you tonight,
Downtown, you're gonna be alright now
(Downtown, downtown)

Downtown
(Downtown)

And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you,
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to
Guide them along

So, maybe I'll see you there
We can forget all our troubles, forget all our cares and go
Downtown, things'll be great when you're
Downtown, don't wait a minute more,
Downtown, everything's waiting for you

Downtown (downtown) downtown (downtown)
Downtown (downtown) downtown (downtown)

8  Economy / Currency exchange / Micro-lending into micro-exchange service on: February 09, 2013, 11:50:46 PM
If anyone has seen or have participated in KIVA knows the power of micro-lending.

I wonder if it could be set up to exchange currency in that way?

eg. Bob has 40 btc and needs that in US dollars...

400 people all over the world chip in and exchange it and the service takes a cut along with kicking back a % to the 400 people.

The service would be acting as an escrow. Not sure on the legality of it all but I'm sure many would participate and the problem of trust would also be a non issue.

What do you think?

edit: Thought this could be set up as a multi currency wallet

10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Miners might not know about this. on: January 27, 2013, 09:05:20 PM
I been reading this forum for about a few months now and I have not seen many mention this neat feature that windows 7 has.

The task scheduler.

I been using it after I managed to configure it to run my miner when the computer is on idle. If I fall asleep of leave the computer for a while it loads my miner and unloads it when it sees my mouse move.

Should anyone need help I'll post a few pictures on setting it up.

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Just a thought on the ASIC technology. on: November 04, 2012, 04:27:49 AM
Ok I was thinking in a conspiratorial way on the whole ASIC thing going on here. Ok the two or more suppliers that will be building these thing are at a race to be the first right?

Or are they?

What if they all called each other and behind the scenes they decided to hold out on the delivery of their units till the others are ready to ship theirs. This would be beneficial to all parties right? After all if they hold back shipments till the last company has caught up and take more orders they make more money and the last company makes money too. They all win. Then everyone gets their ASIC's at the same time. Boom everyone is happy and no one loses customers.

The company that ships first will decimate the profit margins of the last company out of the race. They all are aware of the pressures this will put on the bitcoin economy.

I think we are all being played here.

This is all speculation on my part
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Bruteforced attacked Instawallet on: October 24, 2012, 08:35:15 PM
http://bitbin.it/paste.php?id=0cWM1t7K

I'm new to the bitcoin thingy and as I was waiting for my equipment to be shipped I have been doing the freebitcoin facet thing.

I been using an instawallet service to stash my mBTC lolz and came across this website after typing in the google search [instawallet.org btc]

Then I been hearing about the gpu's being taken in by private pool hash services. However they are offering money for hash power OTHER than BTC hashing and got me thinking.

What if the rogue hashing processors are being pooled to attack websites such as installets or other services. Look I really don't understand much of this but is that link for real?

I guess instawallets are just temporary in nature but what about accounts in large exchanges? Are they safe?

14  Other / Beginners & Help / NEF's got a knock at the door on: October 23, 2012, 11:47:45 PM
[16:47:25] chrisrico and/or he was ordered to do so by a court
[16:47:27] shareholder1 ^^^
[16:47:34] shareholder2 if it’s a court, i would understand
[16:47:39] nefario let me answer shareholder4
[16:47:45] nefario chill for a second guys
[16:47:50] shareholder1 hes being lent on to gather as much user data as possible
[16:48:01] nefario shareholder1: no thats not it
[16:48:04] shareholder2 if it’s just he is “worried” because of talking to a lawyer, i do not understand shutting down everything and requesting IDs
[16:48:08] nefario shut up for a minute
[16:48:11] nefario and let me talk
[16:48:15] nefario shareholder4
[16:48:19] nefario I started and ran GLBSE
[16:48:29] nefario bought all the servers and stuff etc. using my card
[16:48:34] nefario I’m the face of GLBSE
[16:48:55] nefario this also means that I get fucked for GLBSE’s mistakes
[16:49:16] nefario so to answer shareholder4’s question
[16:49:37] shareholder1 wtf did you not use bitcoin ?
[16:49:45] theymos You used shareholder money to start GLBSE and paid yourself ~250 BTC per month plus 24% of dividends. GLBSE belongs to the shareholders much more than it belongs to you.
[16:50:03] nefario I WAS THE LARGEST INVESTOR OF GLBSE
[16:50:06] shareholder2 so let’s change the face if our face suddenly got worried after 1 1/2 years and decided to close it down on a whim and request IDs
[16:50:15] shareholder2 nope
[16:50:20] shareholder2 we were larger than you together
[16:50:32] nefario shareholder2: re-read what I said
[16:50:38] chrisrico you were the largest single investor, yes, but that doesn’t mean much of anything
[16:50:43] shareholder2 just saying you do not own it
[16:50:50] nefario I didn’t say I owned it
[16:51:05] shareholder2 ok. then retreat and let us handle things as we see fit
[16:51:12] nefario not possible Roll Eyes

There is more and I'm still a newbie so I can't post this anywhere else. As far as I see it I think NEFARIO got a knock at the door. Nef has purchased all the equipment with money that can be linked to him and that is why he needs to shut this down. The other members want him to step down and let them run it with out him. He wants their Identification to do that and they wish not to issue that info. However the equipment is bound to NEFARIO.

That should be the short of it. Maybe the Good old boys are coming to shut this down soon? Who knows......

This is so exciting....
