1  Economy / Exchanges / Localbitcoins closing down on: February 09, 2023, 11:42:20 AM
Today I signed up to my LocalBitcoins account and I got this message.

Quote
LocalBitcoins will discontinue its service
Dear Valued Customers,

Originally LocalBitcoins was established to Bring Bitcoin Everywhere and drive global financial inclusion. We have honored that mission for over 10 years and we are proud of what we have achieved together with all of you, our loyal community.

We are therefore sad to share, that regardless of our efforts to overcome challenges during the ongoing very cold crypto-winter, we have regretfully concluded that LocalBitcoins can no longer provide its Bitcoin trading service.

We encourage all customers to withdraw their funds from LocalBitcoins and we ask you to proceed with withdrawing the Bitcoins from your LocalBitcoins wallet. You have 12 months to withdraw, however of course we encourage you to proceed withdrawing sooner.

Thank you for being a part of the LocalBitcoins family! It has been our honor and pleasure to serve you over the last decade.

Timeline for discontinuing the Bitcoin trading service:
2023-02-09 Suspension of new sign ups
2023-02-16
Suspension of trading on LocalBitcoins
Suspension of using LocalBitcoins wallet (with exception of withdrawing one's funds)
After 2023-02-17 LocalBitcoins customers will only be able to log-in to withdraw their Bitcoins. The trading and Wallet services will no longer be available at this point.
We thank you for choosing LocalBitcoins for all these years and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Is this even true? I can't believe that such a great crypto company is closing down. I haven't seen any news about this anywhere on the web. Are there any Localbitcoins users here? Please share your opinions.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Elon Musk sued for 258 billion USD over alleged Dogecoin pyramid scheme. on: June 17, 2022, 10:20:09 AM
I'm sorry if there's another forum post about this topic. I couldn't find anything about this news, so I'm posting it here.
Elon Musk is about to get sued for alleged Dogecoin pyramid scheme. We all knew that his Dogecoin shilling will come back and bite him in the a$$. Grin
Is dogecoin a pyramid scheme? Is this a rhetorical question? Grin Any doge supporters here?

3  Economy / Economics / Will Biden raise the federal minimum wage from 7.25 USD per hour to 15 USD? on: January 22, 2021, 06:28:45 AM
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/14/biden-calls-to-raise-the-federal-minimum-wage-to-15-per-hour.html

Quote
The federal minimum wage is poised to get its first update in more than a decade.

President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday said he will ask Congress to boost the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour from the current $7.25 per hour. The federal minimum wage has not been increased since 2009.

The call to raise the federal minimum wage is part of a larger $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid package called the American Rescue Plan aimed at helping boost the U.S. economy from the damage of the pandemic.

“There should be a national minimum wage of $15 an hour,” Biden said during a Thursday night speech. “Nobody working 40 hours a week should be living below the poverty line.”

Will the US business suffer from the increased labor costs?
Will Biden and the democrats keep their promise?
Stupid question:Will the American working class buy more Bitcoin,if they have bigger salaries? Grin
Some economists say that the current federal minimum wage is way lower than the labor productivity,so increasing the minimum wage will lower the profits of the business, while boosting the consumption of the working class.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Is ipayyou.io legit? on: July 13, 2020, 06:05:17 AM
A few months ago I discovered the website ipayyou.io.This website isn't popular at all, despite the fact that it has been around since 2016.I've seen a few positive reviews about the website, but the lack of popularity kinda makes me hesitant to try this service.Basically ipayyou.io is an alternative to purse.io.
Has anyone here used the website to sell amazon gift cards for BTC?Has anyone been scammed by this website? I would like to know your opinions.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Paxful customer support doesn't respond on: June 09, 2020, 11:20:44 AM
I made a Paxful account 7 months ago,but the Paxful website was kinda slow and caused my browser to crash often so I decided to delete this account. After 5 days,I decided to use Paxful,so instead of creating a brand new account,I logged into my old account.Surprisingly my old account wasn't deleted.
I had to verify my phone number, but the verification failed, because my old phone number was already in their system.
I contacted Paxful customer support and never got any reply from them. All I got is an automatic email saying "How would you rate our customer support?",which is weird, because I never got any response from customer support.
Anyone having the same problem contacting Paxful customer support?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Coinsbit CNG airdrop?Legit or no? on: May 23, 2020, 05:49:25 PM
A month ago my Youtube feed was flooded with videos about this Coinsbit CNG airdrop.
The requirements were:
1.Sign up at Coinsbit.io before May 20 2020
2.Complete KYC.
3.Join their Telegram group
If you completed the above steps you would get 30.000 CNG tokens worth 300 USD.The CNG token trading will start on June 1 AFAIK.
Anyone signed up and completed the KYC so far?
It sounds too good to be true and Coinsbit.io has a lot of negative reviews here on Bitcointalk.
I'm just curious about this airdrop. It would be nice if someone shares his experience with this airdrop.

7  Economy / Scam Accusations / "G2A refund" BTC scam.Beware. on: April 10, 2020, 06:43:44 AM
There's a new scam that I discovered recently.
Here are the details:
The victim gets tricked into installing a Tampermonkey script in his Chrome browser and using that script to purchase game keys or gift cards on G2A using Bitcoin. The victim is manipulated to believe that the script will change the timezone of the checkout page and make the payment session to expire, therefore Bitpay(the BTC payment processor of G2A) will refund automatically all transactions above 0.005 BTC,while G2A will complete the order and deliver the game keys/gift cards.

Hence, you get games and gift cards FOR FREE! Right? WRONG!

In reality, the Tampermonkey script changes the Bitpay wallet address on the G2A checkout page with the BTC address of the creator of that script(the scammer). The victim sends BTC to the scammers address and expect an automatic refund from G2A,but such refund never happens and the BTC are gone...

I don't want to post links here, but you can search Youtube for "G2A refund" and there are a bunch of videos about this "exploit". Usually the videos have more likes than dislikes and lots of fake sounding bot comments, about the script "working perfectly".

The Tampermonkey scam script has several names- "G2A refund glitch","timezone exploit","G2A exploit".

I don't use G2A and I don't care about this shady gaming marketplace.
If you ever want to buy something from G2A,just don't trust the "get everything on G2A for free" videos and methods that are shared across the internet.

8  Other / Meta / Widget with current crypto prices embedded in the forum? on: January 07, 2020, 08:09:32 AM
Have you ever visited a forum like nulled.to?
They have a widget on the right side of the page, showing the current BTC,ETH and Ripple prices, which are constantly updated.
Maybe it would be nice if we have such widget on top of the forum page.
Nevermind,it's just a suggestion.
9  Other / Off-topic / Anyone with social anxiety issues? on: December 28, 2019, 07:18:53 AM
My social anxiety kicked in.
I just hate talking with people in person and I hate the feeling of stress and pressure.
I know I have a problem and I don't have money to get professional help from a psychic doctor.
Anyone here, who faced this problem before?

12  Other / Meta / Readdit Karma whores=Bitcointalk merit whores :) on: December 12, 2019, 01:01:53 PM
A karma whore is a Reddit user, who deliberately uses Reddit to boost his karma score by applying different tricks(re-posting old content for the sake of gaining more karma, etc)
Some members of Bitcointalk have a similar approach towards Merit.
Can we create a list of all "Merit whores" on Bitcointalk?
You can submit your suggestions below.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Have you ever purchased bitcoins using eBay? on: November 25, 2019, 08:08:16 AM
I was browsing eBay and I see many sellers, who are selling bitcoin and altcoins.
I thought that eBay isn't crypto friendly, but the sellers, who are selling 24-hour btc mining contracts.
The fees are ridiculous. To buy 9USD worth of BTC,you have to pay 14USD via paypal.
It's weird that those people actually have sales.
14  Economy / Economics / Your favorite Youtube channels about finance and economics? on: September 26, 2019, 11:42:58 AM
My favorite youtube channels about finance and economics are:
1.Graham Stephan-Real estate,financial advise,saving,making money(nothing about crypto).
2.Economy Explained-It's more about macroeconomics and why some countries are wealthier than others.

Which ones are your favorite Youtube channels about economics and finance?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Do you remember Graft(GRFT)? on: June 01, 2019, 12:22:07 PM
Does anyone here remember the GRAFT project that was active around 2017-2018?
I had around 11280 GRFT coins, but I sold them for 200 USD on March 2018.
Now,it looks like Graft is just a dead altcoin. Can we do something to bring it back to life?
I don't mean just pump&dump.Graft looked like a promising project, but it went down...
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Compilation:The most stupid questions about Satoshi... on: May 28, 2019, 12:22:29 PM
I am sick and tired of the amount of stupid questions regarding Satoshi Nakamoto that gets posted on the forum everyday. This nonsense just keeps going on and on:
"What would Satoshi think about this?,What would Satoshi think about that?"Is Satoshi a gay?"Is Satoshi a woman?""Is Satoshi  the NSA?"...
STFU people! We can't answer these questions because we are NOT the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto and we can't look inside his mind.

Can you add your mindless question to the list? Grin
17  Other / Off-topic / My facebook account got locked on: May 28, 2019, 12:01:20 PM
Today,I've got an email from Facebook, saying that someone was trying to login into my account and therefore my Facebook account will remain locked until I verify my identity.
I tried to verify my identity via text message and via the option to login from another device, but nothing happens.I guess my Facebook is lost...
Anyone having the same issue?
18  Other / Off-topic / What's the best purpose for a VPS? on: May 21, 2019, 05:10:58 PM
I've signed up for the AWS free tier and I have one VPS.
I wonder what should be the best purpose for that VPS.
Install GSA search engine ranker and build backlinks to my website or video 24/7?
Run some bot?
Livestream some video on Youtube/Facebook using Openbroadcaster  software?
Run Linkedhelper on Linkedin?
Run Hitleap/YTmonster and sell web traffic/views/likes?
19  Economy / Economics / Is the US dollar backed by oil? What do you think? on: March 20, 2019, 12:43:26 PM
I kinda like this guy and his Youtube content, but he is anti-bitcoin and he has some solid arguments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YChQ3KQ_1f4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNr1LWgIyiE

The first video is about the bitcoin bubble and the second video is explaining the petrodollar and the US/Saudi Arabia relationships. The petrodollar conspiracy theory sounds pretty good to me.

What do you think?
20  Economy / Speculation / What do you think about this plan? on: December 06, 2018, 07:48:21 AM
Imagine having one bitcoin.
You sell that bitcoin at the current price(around 3800 USD).
Bitcoin crashes again somewhere around Christmass and the price goes down to 1K USD.
You buy 3.8 bitcoins with the dollars you got from the previous sale and you HODL.
In 2019-2020 bitcoin recovers to 10K USD (or maybe reaches 20K ATH).
You have made atleast 38K USD. Grin
I know it's not guaranteed to happen, but hey, this is the Speculation forum,so why not speculate about this.
I think that this is every crypto whale's trading plan for the next 2 years.
