2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What do people mine with L3+ on: May 12, 2021, 06:36:14 AM
Recently was lurking around my old data center, wanted to move some S9s to a place with cheaper electricity and found some L3+.
First thing to came my mind was to check them on coinwarz, whattomine etc. and hoi they haven't been more profitable then now..
So I  hooked up them on nicehash but I feel like I can get more out of them, plus I'm not a big fan of that pool, but profit is profit if that's the best one..
S9s are on viabtc & some on slush, I did try to run LTC on viabtc but hard to calculate profits + they earn you some Doge as well.
So my question is what do people mine these days with their L3+? What pool and coin etc..
any help would be much appreciated

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Scam address alert on: September 04, 2018, 03:22:44 PM
Scam address alert and just a friendly reminder.

pre: I don't know were this thread belongs so I'm opening it in the section I'm most active in.

Yesterday my friend decided to make his first transfer from blockchain wallet to an local exchange for cashing out purposes.
It was his first transaction so he asked about some details. As usual I told him to be alerted and triple check the address he was going to send to, considering the amount wasn't small.
I have never seen before this kind of virus (even thou I was aware that it exists) that changes the BTC address.
After observing the blockchain and seeing that the transaction has 6 confirmations he checked the destination but nothing. After that he asked me to help.
Today I checked the real destination address and the address that he actually send the funds to and voila! they didn't match!
So I started to copy paste the different BTC addresses and the outcome was always the same! https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1QYBTf2tDgyzc6GA8w4ycef7HjWoPgk6j
I didn't had much time to check the actual virus on PC, in case of any news I will update here.

Be alerted were you send your bitcoins or any other coins, triple check and only after that accept the transaction!
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitmain messing with us again on: January 03, 2018, 07:51:22 AM

once or max twice a year you fuck up so badly that despite being top on the market you make customer think twice before entering your web page!
My December order magically moved itself to January?! WTF?! You could fucking mail me that you are unable to ship out in given time due to high demand and etc. and are moving my order ship out for 3 weeks?! I mean that will be still the problem, but at least I knew it from you.
My repair ticket is at waiting list for more than a month, I opened support ticket twice and you said that you got the package but than nothing happened. I also opened a ticket regarding the webpage having an issue processing repair ticket information, on this ticket you answered too and told that it will be fixed soon, but we see no changes after a month.
Also why the hell you aren't tweeting or facebooking any more new order batches?
I'm buying those damn machines since S1 came out and this is how you treat old customers? I don't want to imagine people dealing with you for the first time. Yes Yoshi told me in Kiev that they have shortage of people but wtf guys? multi million company having a shortage of employees? Is this a greed or just stupidity?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / can pool/total pool hashrate affect power consumption? on: December 05, 2017, 01:58:45 PM
This is strange or I have never experienced it in rl,
6x RedDevils 580 8Gs and 1300Watt EVGA psu isn't handling it,
As I've been told the power consumption in some ways hit 1380watts and system shuts down, how is this possible? After shut down PSU needs a discharge and then it starts normally, this happens once or twice a day.
Also the problem arose after relocating the rigs to different location, on previous one they were working perfectly.
I don't have access to those rigs any more and I'm pretty sure the problem is with AB, system or connections, but what if I'm wrong?
Anyone experienced this?

7  Economy / Exchanges / CEX.IO scam? what can be done? on: November 10, 2017, 11:11:15 AM
I was using cex.io very rarely, but after October 15 when all the cards has been blocked outside EU (xapo, bitpay. cryptopay.me etc.) I switched to cex.io for cashing outs. We have a local company that does this, but meh cex was better.
About a month ago I deposited fiat via wire transfer to buy BCH and than antminers, after two weeks of waiting and then couple emails to support they credited my balance. I bought BCH, than transferred it to wallet and bought products from bitmain, after what I deposited leftover BCH to cex.io and it is still pending since October 25th. More than two weeks have passed. I've contacted support on cex.io itself, I asked help on their facebook page, here, but nothing. I got the same answer every two days "your patience is highly appreciated".
I asked them to cancel my deposit and send back the BCH to the address were they came from, nothing.
I wonder what can be done in this case, visit their office? Ask authorities/lawyer and sue them?
any idea and experience shared would be helpful
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S9/T9 overheating issues and solutions on: July 25, 2017, 10:40:29 PM
First of all hello fellow miners!
Couple weeks ago I relocated my farm into a new place, previous one had some issues with dust and air intake vents.
After relocating I disassembled them and cleaned with air compressor, as I usually do once in a month. They are running since last August with no rest for 24/7. After some time I noticed that the temps are growing while the room temp stays the same 22-26C. Also after relocating I got new S9s from bitmain and while they are operating at 75-80C the older ones are reaching nearly 100C, in this case I'm lowering the frequency to not overheat them.
I guess it's all about thermal paste, I'm not sure correct me if i'm wrong but hashing board chips are glued with thermal glue right?
What if and how can I replace that? I'm pretty sure it will give significant difference to temps.
Also older batches are running oldest software, the reason I'm don't want to upgrade them is that as far as I know I won't be able to change frequency, which helps me to avoid overheating as I mentioned above. Is it possible that firmware upgrade will also give the difference in temps and if it is I'd like to use firmware which supports the frequency management.
Thanks for your time guys and happy mining to all!

10  Other / Off-topic / Bitmain coupons on: May 23, 2017, 11:09:18 PM
Greetings fellow members,
Couple weeks ago I was able to get some 50$ coupons from bitmain itself, I was browsing around and didn't find anyone selling them.
So the question is are they still available ? How can I get my hands on some more coupons
?
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Bitmain? Is it a joke or something? on: May 04, 2017, 02:34:39 PM
My order was about one month ago 2017-03-29
2x Antminer T9-11.5TH
and
2x APW3+-12-1600W,PSU
They arrived in about a week (thank's to UPS). After plugging them in and configuring I discovered that one of the PSU isn't working, so I emailed them the problem.
They sent me their UPS ID, but our local office asked for some kind of "payment label" the guarantee that this company will actually pay for the shipment, no shit, Bitmain didn't provide anything about this. After ouple days of worthless negotiations I did it myself, sent the package via EMS (total shipping value 50$~). The PSU arrived there at 25.04.2017 11:51 and the ticket status is still uncollected, this is ridiculous, one of their support members told me that they will provide the coupon for 50$, what the fuck should I do with the 50$ coupon? Bitmain is this a joke? It's already a month passed since my brand new miner is off and you don't want to send me new PSU? Why the hell are you doing this?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 16GB SSD with Windows 7 and want to upgrade on: March 01, 2017, 05:40:41 PM
Greetings, It's been 10+ hrs I'm sitting in the farm and searching for options to somehow fit windows 10 on 16GB SSD.
I know that 16gb isn't enough and why I even bought it ? It wasn't me..
Here is the list of ssd-s I have currently on my farm:
22x16gb
25x32gb
25x120gb
and couple 64s and 40s
I was on vacation and planning to update from windows 7 to 10 and now my plan isn't working as I wanted it to.
The thing is that I can actually upgrade 32 and + SSDs to 10 but I can't do it with 16gb.
I was searching to all over the net for smaller versions of 10, I even downloaded and installed some, but it isn't working as I want it to.
Any ideas or suggestions about what system to use, atm there are 10s and 7s as well...
How can I manage to install and run correctly without any issues windows 10 on 16gb SSD?
I know that it will be better to go and buy some new ssd-s but..
13  Economy / Computer hardware / Is anyone interested in this piece of history? Block Erupter on: February 24, 2017, 11:51:51 PM
Is anyone interested in this 333Mh/s usb block erupter ?
I found them while ago when I was cleaning up and I'm willing to keep one for myself and sell another, you can choose the color.
I don't think you want to mine with it but as an artifact it's a great gift for yourself I guess.
Name the price
14  Economy / Service Discussion / What hosting services are out there ? on: February 24, 2017, 01:39:57 AM
In the far far future I see an opportunity considering my electricity price that I can host mining hardware, but before that I would like to know what hosting services are out there and how they operate ?
Atm I'm operating small BTC farm (13THs) and medium ETH farm 6459.309 KH/s.
The price I'm aiming varies from 3-6 cents per KWh and the usable amount is 800KWh+ and even more if needed.
Any information would be helpful.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / S9, no matter what frequency I still get XXXXXs on: January 23, 2017, 08:31:03 AM
It was running for more than a day and then suddenly all XXXXs. I tried lower frequency but I still get XXXXs.
All other miners are running without any issues, max temperature is 88 degrees C.
I haven't tried resetting it and I'm not sure if it will help.
Any ideas ?

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What are your solutions for fake monitors on rigs on: December 24, 2016, 01:04:13 AM
Managing rig when it is in next room is damn easy, monitoring is on and if something goes wrong you just go there and fix. Even if there are 10 or 20+ rigs.
What are your solutions about dummy plugs ?
Hdmi dummy plugs ? they cost 10-15$ on ebay.
I also saw tutorial to solve this via resistors plugged in VGA, but most of cards have no VGA neither DVI ports (DVI-D ports in some cases where resistors still won't work).
So what are your solutions for dummy plugs?
How do you avoid the issue when PC refuses to power up without monitor/dummy plug plugged in?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Place for your mining rigs on: December 23, 2016, 08:40:32 PM
Will you be interested in place where:
Electricity price will be 5 Cents per Kwh,
Air flow and conditioning,
Security and alarm systems.
Place may be divided into personal and shared rooms, total avg. ~350sqm.
What will be affordable price for you per sqm?
Any thoughts and suggestions would be great
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Remote rig resetting tool with PoE and relay switch on: December 23, 2016, 12:53:51 AM
My rigs are 30-35 minutes drive away from home and it's a pain in the ass to get there every time I need to restart the miner when it freezes or after power blackout some of them won't come back to live so I came up with an idea to build remote resetting tool with PoE and relay switch. Anyone can do this (this was my first soldering experience).. It is cheap and it is working.
What I used:
1. Cheap PoE switch from ebay - 35$ 24 port powerdsine 6524

2. Relay switch from local electronic store 12v TIANBO - 0.76$

3.Ethernet cable crimped with RJ45 standard B on one side to connect to switch
(you don't need image for that)
4. Power/Reset SW cable 0.10$ without button (you don't need button neither)

I soldered one pair of RJ45 cable outgoing from switch on relay switch (full green and stripped brown, other contacts may also work)

On relay switch I also soldered Power SW cable with pins on other contacts which will later connect to motherboard

Then I connected pins to motherboard and connected RJ45 to PoE switch port

You have to write down which PoE switch ports are connected to which rigs to restart the miner you need to restart.
After all is set up next steps are simple, when rig freezes or won't come back after power blackout you need to connect to PoE switch's management IP and head to Port Configurations Enable/Disable section. By default you have all ports disabled, if you need to restart the rig which is connected to PoE switches port 1 you will enable it for about 3 seconds and disable. The miner will shut down, after that you will do this step again, enable the port for 3 seconds and disable, now rig will start up again and starts to mine.

I use H81 BTC and ASUS H81M-K motherboards, in case of H81 i never used HDMI dummys, after restarting them they power up and start the miner from startup folder, in case of H81M-k I'm using HDMI dummys because in most cases they need monitor to be plugged in.

I'm little bit sleepy now so if something is hard to understand or I did some technical mistakes feel free tell. I just wanted to share.
if it works it ain't stupid!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Email and sms sender using Claymore's remote manager on: December 13, 2016, 09:24:50 PM
I was unable to manage Remote Manager to send me email or even sms in case of alarm, so after spending some time searching the internet how to make .bat file to send sms and email  I came up with an idea to send sms and email with python script and make but file to run these scripts. It's very helpful for me to manage my rigs even if I'm offline.
First you need to install python 3.5.2 and don't forget to check both boxes:

After fresh installing the python lets configure Twilio account.
Sign up for Twilio account and create API https://www.twilio.com/try-twilio
Code:
Step 1: Create an API Key

First, you need to create an API Key, which contains a secret used to sign Access Tokens. You can create API Keys from the Twilio Console or using the REST API. At the time you create the API Key, you'll be shown the Key's secret. For security, you will only be shown the secret when the key is created. You should store it with the Key's SID in a secure location for the next step.

Step 2: Generate an Access Token

Next, you'll use the the secret of the API Key you created in step 1 to generate an access-token using the Twilio Helper Library. Each token is granted access to specific client features.

then make a .py file and fill it with this(replace _sid and _token to your live _sid and _token and also replace numbers):
Code:
# Download the twilio-python library from http://twilio.com/docs/libraries
from twilio.rest import TwilioRestClient

# Find these values at https://twilio.com/user/account
account_sid = "ACXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
auth_token = "YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
client = TwilioRestClient(account_sid, auth_token)

message = client.messages.create(to="+12316851234", from_="+15555555555",
                                     body="Hello there!")

Then run this in CMD:
Code:
pip install twilio

Now you can test sms.py file by double clicking on it, after few second you should get sms from Twilio number with your own text.

Configure email sender:
Open CMD and type:
Code:
>python
>>> import smtplib

After this replace email accounts in code above and save it as email.py:
Code:
import smtplib

server = smtplib.SMTP('smtp.gmail.com', 587)
server.starttls()
server.login("YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS", "YOUR PASSWORD")

msg = "YOUR MESSAGE!"
server.sendmail("YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS", "THE EMAIL ADDRESS TO SEND TO", msg)
server.quit()

If you will using gmail don't forget to allow "less secure apps" to access your account.

After these steps you can create simple .bat file to use in remote manager to run these two python scripts in case of alarm
Code:
@ECHO OFF

start C:\******\gmail.py
start C:\******\sms.py

P.S. I've done these steps and everything is working fine for me, I didn't write neither sms sender script nor email sender one, use them on your discretion.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 01:44:39 PM
I'm looking for any good literature about alcoins and cryptocurrency overall, technical details and the concept of work itself.
The idea is to rise the awareness of my people Cheesy and to give the newcommers easy understanding on what's going on. (I have my own interests as well)
Russian and English language will do it's job as well, I'm trying to translate information in Georgian and hoping to make a guide or something like that, from A to Z.
