1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How to build a transaction paying a specific miner. on: March 29, 2016, 09:00:23 PM
I'm looking for a way to allow users to pay different fees based on different version of the block including the transaction.

E.G. a transaction that is valid only if it is included in a block with version 3 but is invalid if included in a block version 2 or 4.

OR

a transaction including different fees if included in any block or in a specific block type.
0.2 mBTC if v3
0.1 mBTC if not v3.

Is there any way to do so?

2  Economy / Economics / 8% jump in the USD Money Base in two weeks on: January 03, 2015, 09:29:21 PM
Just as the title say, I was compiling my charts comparing inflation of Bitcoin and USD Money Base (MB) and M1.
Copy&Paste the data, look at the chart and BANG!!!!
The MB jumped 8% (on yearly base) from the 0% of two week before.
Looked back at the data and the difference is USD 256 billions.

Apparently 100 billions will cover the new increase in the federal debt.
Where are the other 156 billions is a mystery we could solve in the future.

BTW, another airdrop like this and Bitcoin exchange arte will turn back up again.
The last times they started this type of increases was for QE2 and QE3 and, at the time, the price of BTC soared like a rocket.

3  Economy / Economics / [CHART] BTC vs USD inflation on: November 02, 2014, 05:01:13 PM
I have compiled a spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17Jjhd_nnfRJ9EyYuOM1ACPMwRod3hhPqRk4YQp7FIZE/pubhtml# with the data taken from blockchain.info and research.stlouisfed.org.

I update the data and the charts weekly or bi-weekly (data of Money Base is released bi-weekly)
I will post here pictures of the charts and update them.
Suggestions for beautification or improve anything welcome.

The last chart is about the ratio between real inflation in BTC and the default inflation in BTC

4  Economy / Economics / There is hope: Euro Quantitative Easing on: April 07, 2014, 09:07:22 AM
When you think there are no good news for Bitcoin or all price signals are negative, then a ray of Sunlight come to shine:

http://intermarketandmore.finanza.com/draghi-prepara-il-bazooka-ecco-il-progetto-eqe-euro-quantitative-easing-62298.html

For not italian or german speaking people:

Mario Draghi, ECB Chairman (equivalent to the Federal reserve Chairman for the Euro zone) is preparing his 1000 billions € QE (80 billions €/month).
Bigger than Bernanke's QE3.

They are just playing bad cop/good cop exchanging the parts as they feel expedient.

Thias will bode well, very well, for Bitcoin (and other assorted cryptocurrencies), gold, silver.
5  Local / Italiano (Italian) / [IMPORTANTE] Volantino per Bitcoin on: October 02, 2013, 02:23:52 PM

6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Downloader with Bitcoin support on: June 30, 2013, 08:39:46 PM
I was thinking about eMule / JDownloader and Bitcoin so I looked for emule (and bittorrent) references in the forum.
I found just a couple of references to implement bitcoin in eMule.

From what I understand, there are some problems implementing a bitcoin micropayment system in eMule:
The number of small transactions would spam the Bitcoin network and the time to confirm the transaction would make it difficult to spend the BTC immediately.
So, there will be no way to speed up a queue with micropayments.

But, in my opinion, I believe there are a few ways around these limitations:

1) The downloader would send a transaction to the uploader and as the download proceed, reissue the same transaction with an increasing value (like the example of a smart contract made for paying for a Wi-Fi connection on the fly). As the transaction increase in value, the uploader have more incentives to broadcast it to the network. This could work in successive sessions until the uploader have uploaded enough data and the size of the transaction is large enough to not be considered spam by the BTC network.

2) The uploader could setup a price (say 1$) to offset a 1 GByte upload from the debit of the downloader. This could drive the uploader in debt of some MB to the downloader and serve him immediately. This also should solve the problem of trust, because the uploader have already show off he is uploading good stuff and the downloader is able to check it is not garbage before.

This would allow good sharers with a good upload bandwidth to be rewarded for sharing and recoup the costs of the connection.
Others could monetize their upload bandwidth to share big files (Linux distros and likes) reducing the load on big servers (at least in the initial stages of disseminating a large files, when the demand is larger).

The eMule community is, at least, 500K users always on. If this extension is adopted, many more BTC could be used for a good reason and many more people could find themselves with BTC to save or spend.
If we suppose 10% of the users spend 1$ in BTC every month to offset their UP/DL imbalances, this would bring 50K$ in the BTC economy every month in a stable way. And this if just 1$ per 50K users is spent every month.
If this type of usage become popular, this sum could easily decuplicate in few months.
On the current MTGox book, eliminating 5-50K BTC would move up the price of 2-20 US$.
7  Local / Other languages/locations / How to convert Bitcoins in Algeria's Dinars ? on: June 19, 2013, 05:01:52 PM
We are trying to find a way to pay people in Algeria with Bitcoins, but the main problem is to convert them in local currency.
What a surprise.

I know, for example, some people interested in paying consulting in Algeria with BTC (something around 4-5.000 € per month) and surely many workers in Europe have interest in sending money to their relatives if they could lower the costs of transaction.

Now, I'm open to suggestions, better if legal ones.  Wink

My current train of thinking is about finding what algerians import from Europe.
If importers could pay with bitcoins a part or all of what they import, they would not need to convert dinars to € and they would have a reason  to buy bitcoins in exchange of Dinars from the local people.

It should works like this:

Algerians Workers in Europe send bitcoin to his family address
Family in Algeria sell bitcoins to a local exchanger in exchange of dinars
local exchanger send BTC to seller in Europe to buy stuff and bring it back in Algeria

I read, for example, some people coming back for visiting family buy a car (in France for example) drive it to Morocco or Algeria and then sell it locally.
Or people buying domestic appliance in Europe and bringing them back in Tunisia.

If we find a way, we could make happy a lot of people;  maybe not the government, but we can live with this.  Grin
