When farmers want cattle to produce the best milk they don't confine them to the same utilitarian and crowded feedhouses we see with typical livestock.
Originally farmers would make sure they had sufficient shade, plenty of water and pasture to graze in. However, as the demand for efficiency came, more dairy cows had to be raised. Acres upon acres of shaded pasture no longer sufficed. Today you will see giant diary cows entranced in a giant moving carousel by which they feed, soothing them and relaxing them as they are voluntarily milked. Yes, I said voluntarily. Instead of the farmer routinely milking the cows, they now milk themselves as they please using automated machinery with the act rewarded with food. This relaxes them and gives them the illusion of freedom and thus they produce more and better milk.
This analogy almost perfectly applies to people. As chattel slaves we are unskilled and produce very little value. As purportedly free and taxed citizens, we can learn various skills and produce valuable labor and goods.
Thus unfortunately, if there will ever be comprehensive, omnipotent tyranny, it will be one of bliss and ecstasy. Very few will resist. Power is only as good as its output and happy citizens are the most effective citizens.

I haven't laughed so hard at a satirical depiction of myself in a long time.

All the people who have no genuine confidence in the Bitcoin concept and what we are doing are now leaving the office. We can even see them turning in their Bitcoins at the front desk. I will certainly be picking up a few on my way out today.
I want to propose a toast to a more determined, productive and confident tomorrow! To Bitcoin!

I will give the first poster and fifth poster 50 Bitcents if they can agree on how to split it. It works like this: The first poster chooses a split and they absolutely cannot, sworn on their fate and soul, negotiate it with the fifth poster. The fifth poster can only accept the deal (in which case each of you gets the decided share) or reject it (in which case you all get nothing).
In the case of cheating, I will track you down like a rabid dog, hack off your legs with a hedge trimmer, rape you with a corncob, and boil off your corpse in an acid bath.
Let the game proceed.

This is the highest it is going to get for awhile. It cannot be sustained above 1.10 for too long. I recommend you sell and profit while you still can. There hasn't been that big of an increase in adoption since the inception of this rally.

I forget where but somebody had proposed a system where society's currency was replaced with karma points. If you had a high amount of karma, people would be obliged to care for you and make sure you are sustained in society. The ones with low or negative karma may end up killed in a back alley and so forth.
I really thought about the circumstances of such a situation and I realized we already live in such a society today. The people who are capable of bringing the most value to society are often sought after for universities through scholarships and such, in addition to almost being guaranteed a job. Those who don't have very valuable skills and are hence aren't able to bring much value to other people are left searching and building themselves for opportunity or to be cared by the altruistic few that happen to gain value from them.
Is my conclusion correct?

I feel ignorant and the only cure I know for a bad case of ignorance is knowledge. And I believe the best source of knowledge is some good ole fashion books.
Anarchists, libertarians and statists alike, lend me your book lists. What should I enlighten myself with?
Also, LightRider, feed me some of your Zeitgeist stuff. I'm interested.

I spent a good few hours speaking with the man last night discussing the elimination of the gold standard and competitive private currencies. Eventually the subject came to Bitcoin. After firmly convincing him that Bitcoin is the monetary standard of the future, he wants to back his entire campaign with BTC. I am negotiating with him to become his funding manager when it comes to Bitcoin funding.
Well, this is going to be huge.

As long as people continue to think that controlling and managing systems is always the best way to achieve an end result, nihilistic philosophies such as libertarianism, anarchism, etc will continue to be treated as anti-intellectual or idiotic.
I just tried arguing with people that driving higher than the speed limit or eliminating the speed limit altogether would lead to safer travel. If you were to drive faster -- not recklessly -- in your daily commutes you would statistically be subject to less accidents. 1) you would be forced to be aware of your surroundings and 2) people would be more aware of your movement.
All I received was cognitive dissonance. It was treated as if it were an axiom -- that speed limits were necessary for safety, so I was quickly rebutted. Nearly exiled as the village idiot when my theory has been proven.
This is how these philosophies are treated. It's going to take some evolution or large enlightenment before people can open up to these sort of things: negating what currently exists for better alternatives.
It seems it is only instinct to build up upon garbage and somehow turn it into a structure that doesn't collapse on itself.
