1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Risking 1% in Gambling on: November 29, 2023, 12:17:28 PM
Quote
Guideline 1: Gamble no more than 1% of household income
Don’t bet more than 1% of your household income before tax per month. For example, someone with a household income of $70,000 before tax should gamble no more than $58 per month.

Recently I decided to risk only 1 percent of my gambling portfolio into each bet. This makes my bet risk free as I know that even if I lose the bet i will lose only 1% of my gambling money.

Do you guys also follow a similar strategy like gambling with 1% or 2% on each game? This way not only we are safe from losing big amounts but at the same time, we never find ourselves in a situation where we go all in, in some bet and then have the fear of losing all of our money.

You must have heard 1% strategy in trading, the same can be applied in gambling too and believe me, you will feel a lot more comfortable using this 1% of your money in every game.
This also gives you a lot of games to play before you end up on your money as on every bet you will use 1% of your money. In case you lose all bets, you will be playing 100 games because your money is exhausted.

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / New ID requirements for Gamblers in Australia on: September 30, 2023, 05:52:16 AM
A few days ago i shared a news where Australia will ban Gambling through credit cards, now it seems that they are moving another step ahead in this and now Australia Introduces New ID Requirements for Online Gamblers

The general purpose for this is to reduce gambling in Australia but they will make excuses that this is done to overcome underage gambling etc.
Quote
The measure would mitigate certain problems such as underage gambling or gambling harm, Responsible Wagering Australia says

Although most casinos ask for KYC, yet minors still gamble on their elders ' IDs (Elder brother or father). I wonder by introducing this ID verification what special Australia is looking to achieve from it?
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Australia will ban Gambling through credit cards on: September 13, 2023, 05:13:17 PM
Australia is looking to ban credit card usage in online gambling. The reason they give is that Australia loses 25 billion dollars only in gambling in a year. That is a big amount indeed.

Although the title says, the ban of credit cards but when you read the actual news it says that they will ban crypto usage in online gambling too.

Quote
The Bill, set to be introduced to federal parliament on Wednesday, will illegalise the use of credit cards and digital currencies in online wagering and slap fines up to $234,750 on companies that don’t enforce the ban.

Is this bill means that Australia is going to ban online gambling because if people can't use a credit card or crypto, how will they do online gambling?

4  Economy / Exchanges / Free Withdrawals Exchanges on: September 03, 2023, 03:25:04 PM
The best thing about FTX (one of the reasons that i was using that exchange) was that it allowed free withdrawal of Bitcoins and all other cryptocurrencies. This was really helpful as sometimes you have to send small amounts of bitcoins and you do not need to pay any fees if you use the FTX exchange.

After that FTX Scam, I really missed that feature as I do not know any other exchange that will allow free withdrawals. If anyone knows the exchange where the withdrawal is free or is lowest, please share.
5  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Cold Wallet Myth on: August 31, 2023, 03:00:49 AM
When we talk about cold wallet, we mean that the wallet is stored on a machine/phone, which has no access to the internet.
Even if you install Electrum wallet on machine which has no internet access, it is the Electrum cold storage. The same goes for the Airgapped devices. Here I have few questions.

1- If we connect the Internet to that machine once or sometimes (to update the Electrum wallet) , will it not remain a cold storage?

2- If we are sure that there is no malware or something in the computer, what difference does it make to connect that cold storage computer sometimes to the internet to make transactions?
As per my understanding, we do not connect cold storage to the internet because we fear that any malware may get our electrum seeds etc. Is is right ? There is no other reason. Connecting to Internet, does not mean that the Internet will know the private key or leaks your private key.

3- If we install electrum on computer (which is malware free and connected to the internet), make a new wallet, keep a note of the seeds and then uninstall electrum from that computer and also remove the wallet files, isn't it secure too?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Unable to restore all the ETH addresses in my Meta Mask on: August 29, 2023, 02:34:09 PM
I recently imported a MetaMask wallet in my other computer and enter the seed phrases. However, I only see one of the accounts there on my new computer while on my old pc, i have more than one ETH account under the same meta mask wallet.

So why i do not see all of those ETH addresses in my new wallet? and how to restore them.

Aren't these addresses connected as they all have the same seed phrases  Huh
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / China crackdown against gambling streaming on: August 27, 2023, 05:26:34 AM
China is one of the leading industries after US and the decisions they make have a global effect. For example, when they say that they will ban Bitcoin, this has a negative effect across crypto markets globally and not just China. Will this gambling ban affect the overall gambling business worldwide? That is yet to be seen.

Now that Chinese Content Platforms Reportedly Exclude Live Streaming Features, this has caused the revenue decreased in those platforms. It is obvious that if you block gambling streaming, then those people won't use that platform if they were using it previously to watch those streams.

Also, the Chinese were very keen to block the illegal gambling platforms and they also block payments in millions from those gambling casinos.
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Wallet RBF Feature on: August 12, 2023, 05:10:08 AM
I recently used the RBF feature in the Electrum wallet.
What happened was that I send some amount but put a fee of 2satoshi - Fee per vbyte, it was showing it will take 1 day for confirmation.
So after about 18 hrs, i decided to use the RBF feature for the very first time. I increased the fee to 4satoshi - Fee per vbyte and broadcast the transcation.

Now when i check the old Tx, it says it is not found.

OLD TX, NOT FOUND

I see a new TX ID and it is still pending confirmation.

My question is that the fee which i paid in the old tx, 0.00005064 BTC, where does it goes? Is it lost?

Because in my new TX, the fee is 0.00012064 BTC (4.0 sat/vB) or did the OLD tx fee added to it  Huh

Also how long will it take for this new transaction to be confirmed with 4.0 sat/vB fee ?
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling effects on LGBTQ+ People on: July 16, 2023, 11:51:17 AM
Recently research was held by Dr Reece Bush-Evans who told that online gambling could Hide the sexuality of the LGBTQ+ people and most of these people prefer online gambling as compared to physical gambling for obvious reasons.

The more important concern for the LGBTQ+ people is that they are being treated differently in a casino which may come under harassment. Also, the study says that people at the casino, the staff plus the public have shown discriminatory behavior towards these people.

10  Economy / Services / Best Sites to Calculate the crypto risk calculator on: July 09, 2023, 01:02:45 PM
Does anyone know the best sites where one can calculate the risks to be taken in the trades?

For example, if I want to take a 1% risk of my portfolio, what should be my position size? One way is to calculate through trading view but there is any simplified calculator where we can do this match easily and effectively?
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: July 08, 2023, 06:43:53 AM
Usually, people who win in gambling but not able to cash out or save their winnings and I think this has something to do with a Healthy mindset.
If you do not have the intention to save the wealth, you will lose all your winnings by risking them again in another gambling bet.

Only a mentally strong person who has control over emotions and have money management skills would be the real winner here and will become rich eventually.

12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Minimum Age to gamble on: July 01, 2023, 08:28:18 PM
I came across an article How Old Do You Have to Be to Gamble in USA?. In this article, i saw that the minimum age to gamble is between 18 to 21 years. I wonder if the online casino do follow this minimum age for gambling.

Yes, the gambling sites have our age data through the KYC documents. Do they ever restrict anyone who is underage to not to gamble?
Also, if we find any site allowing minors to gamble, can legal action be taken against them?

13  Economy / Gambling / Loophole in stopping Money Laundering through Wagering on: June 29, 2023, 07:28:43 AM
As we know that most gambling sites will require you to gamble and wager your whole balance once, before you can cash out or withdraw from the gambling site and they take this measure so people do not do money laundering whereby deposit and withdraw without gambling.

Now the point here is that on the gambling site, there are many easy winning bets with odds like 1.01x etc. If the money lauder is sensible he can easily be wagering the whole amount by placing a few bets where the odds are very low and the winning chances are 99%.

So does this mean that there is a loophole here and the money launderers can easily by pass this wagering requirement?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do you like Meme Coins ? on: May 14, 2023, 05:56:17 AM
These days everyone is talking about the Meme coins and they are trending. Do you like investing in MEME coins ?

Do you like Meme coins and what are your Opinions on Meme coins. I understand Meme coins have no use case but they have hype and that's what you need to make money. Yes, the narrative of Meme coin is very short lived but it may give you 50x or 100x returns within no time.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / New ECOMI (OMI) Token on: May 07, 2023, 06:55:18 AM
I was holding some OMI tokens in my trust wallet.
Today i check and saw that it was showing the number of coins i held but not showing the price against it.
I checked the details on coingecko (https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/ecomi) and saw the announcement that it has been migrated from its own chain (GoChain) to the new ERC20 contract.

Now my concern is why my old tokens are not automatically converted to the new chain  Huh

Do I have to do some additional steps in order to move my coins from the old chain to the new chain?
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you take Part in Gambling Lotteries ? on: April 16, 2023, 10:33:58 PM
I take part in lotteries but I usually do not make a lot of hope to win a lottery. Participating n the lottery is the easiest thing but getting a win out of it may be the most difficult thing. By the way, its fun participating in online lotteries.

Of course, if you take part in a lottery, you would track its progress and the result. Although i do not think that i am too lucky to win a lottery but still I keep looking for the results and see if any day i would win something big.

What if, I get a chance to participate in a lottery without any investment?
If any gambling site offers, free of cost entry in the lottery, i would definitely not miss that one. Smiley
