1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Banks gonna do what banks gonna do.... on: November 23, 2016, 08:13:28 PM
A Swiss bank has started selling paper as bitcoins, in the place of real bitcoins. In the same way that since the ancient times, they stored your gold and gave certificates, which then became money!

Only this time, we can store real bitcoins (as oppossed to real gold) and don't really need the bank!

2  Economy / Speculation / Let's put the Willy bot myth to rest!!! on: November 17, 2014, 08:23:55 PM
Hi all, I got all the datapoints from here
https://blockchain.info/charts/estimated-transaction-volume-usd?timespan=all&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

and made this

It's the daily blockchain transaction volume in USD for all bitcoin time. In order to avoid those huge spikes from above,
I averaged each value with its previous 200.

As is obvious, there has a huge ramp up starting on October 2013, I guess it was the Chinese entering.
Now we seem to be leveling on the trend line that started on April 2013.

Now, Willy was only trading on gox without any real money (USD or BTC) and hence couldn't have caused that huge ramp!

Your comments please!
3  Economy / Speculation / To all the "bears": why are you here? on: September 03, 2014, 02:11:35 AM
Yes, why are you bears here if you don't believe in bitcoin? To buy cheap bitcoins perhaps?  Cheesy
4  Economy / Speculation / ECB to start quantitative easing. Bitcoin beyond the moon? on: August 27, 2014, 10:57:41 AM
Everyone expects that the ECB will start quantitative easing. Will that push bitcoin up?
I think it will!

What say you?

5  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin adoption (bitcoin days destroyed) on: June 25, 2014, 05:51:22 PM
Here are some graphs I made from raw data the blockchain.info shares. All graphs include averaged values with the last 200 before them, so that huge peaks don't destroy the whole image.

1) All data

2) Filtered by min age 1 week

3) Filtered by min age 1 month

4) Filtered by min age 1 year

I'd say it's going up!!! What say you?

Edit:The 1 year chart was misplaced and fixed, sorry!
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Where is Mark Karpeles now? on: June 12, 2014, 05:54:45 AM
Does anyone have any news on him, Gox and the lost bitcoins?

7  Economy / Speculation / It escapes me!!! on: April 03, 2014, 07:45:19 PM
It escapes me how people decide to get out of bitcoin without an emergency need, while central banks are printing like crazy. Even if they stop at one point, peripheral banks will continue via loans etc!!!
8  Economy / Economics / World DEBT/GDP on: March 10, 2014, 11:23:29 PM
Soooooooooo, I read today that the world's debt amount to $100 trillion.
Wikipedia says that in 2012, the GDP was ~72 trillion. Let's suppose that it's $80 trillion now.

Debt to GDP = 125%

Next step, take loans from Mars!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

11  Economy / Economics / New law to allow deposit confiscation proposed by the EU on: April 10, 2013, 08:12:27 PM
According to Greek media, the EU are thinking of proposing a new law that will allow confiscation of deposits that are above the guaranteed level in case a bank develops problems. The guaranteed amount is 100000 euros. Any amount above that is not insured. The law is supposed to become active in 2015.

Here's a link for those that can read Greek. http://www.ethnos.gr/article.asp?catid=22770&subid=2&pubid=63810716

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cypriot bank deposits hit in 10bn bailout on: March 16, 2013, 09:34:39 AM
Read about it here http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/33fb34b4-8df8-11e2-9d6b-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2Nh4PjXyG.

They took money out of every bank account. Now, that's a first AFAIK.

I would say bitcoin is needed more than ever to save oneself from all those banksters.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / How is it insured that only 21 mil bitcoins will ever be minted on: January 15, 2013, 02:06:44 PM
Hi people,

I'm new to the world of bitcoin and very enthusiastic I must say.

I wanted to ask how it is insured that only 21 million bitcoins will ever be minted?

Thanks in advance.
