In hand, unopened, unlocked GSM phone ready to ship for $400 in BTC. I love this phone, but the 2 things that I love the most are that the only vendor bloatware that comes on this phone are the standard Google apps and that the Wifi hotspot works right in the OS without checking with the carrier first to see if you have paid for the extra wireless tethering plan. USB tethering also works with Windows without needing any software or driver add-ons. So far I haven't found a reason to need to root it. My only gripe (as with everyone else) is that it doesn't have a MicroSD add on slot, but I don't carry around a lot of pictures or music. Grab a StraightTalk, T-Mobile, other prepaid microsim and cut your phone bill in 1/2 or even 1/3.

I have made a deal with AndrewK to sell 3 mining defective (meaning they post successfully and boot to graphical desktop in Linux but do not mine successfully) Reference 5850's.
He has a pretty high post count for being a month old account and has been buying up a lot of hardware, which normally seems a little suspicious. From his post history his intentions are noble, and he has 1 successful deal so far.
As such I have decided to accept a deal with him and make this public entry to track status.
Deal is 8 btc for 3 defective cards, I handle shipping. 4 btc before shipping, and 4 upon verified delivery.

I have 2 x Reference HD 5850's that no longer mine. They do post and work in 2D mode but lock up when I start a miner with them, even at stock speeds. I'm not sure where they were each individually purchased, but were certainly bought used from eBay or locally. They have 5870 BIOS's on them so I could run them at 975/325. They were re-greased with Arctic Silver 5 as needed and kept as close to 70C as possible while mining. Their fans are in good condition. I am hoping to get 15 btc/ea, but will take a reasonable offer considering the condition. Willing to ship anywhere buyer pays. Edit: I have one reference from selling another dead card here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=484.msg478103#msg478103Edit: Per suggestion of a user PM I tested both cards 3D with fgl_glxgears and gltron and both cards tested smoothly for a few minutes each at stock speed.

We must convince all the "other" people to join pools now. We can't have the security of the network threatened by "other" people.

"Don't Take Your Bitcoins To Heaven, Heaven Knows We Need Them Here"
To my Christian friends,
Glorious times are upon you! You must all be anxious and enthusiastic that the Rapture is upon you. Although I do not believe as you do, I wholeheartedly believe in Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Worship and I am very excited for you. I am starting a new service, Rapture Services, LLC.
Do you have friends or family who's mortal soul you are worried about? What happens if one of your friends or family is not taken in Rapture and left behind to face the End Times? Why not leave them your Bitcoins to make their life a little easier? It works like this. You contact me via private message and I will give you a Bitcoin address to transfer all your coins to me. Each person will have their own individual address so that there will not be any question as to how many coins were shipped to me. I will keep the coins safe by copying the wallet.dat files to as many different media types as possible and take all possible including safes, faraday cages, and faraday cages in safes. I will provide you contact detail including Name, Physical Mailing Address, Home Phone Number, Cell Phone Number, and E-mail addresses on all major e-mail providers (Hotmail, Yahoo, Google), and HAM Radio ID in case of global communications disruptions. You will include my information in your final correspondents to your friends and loved ones before the Rapture with directions to contact me if you are taken in Rapture and they are not. I will allow one week for people to contact me then distribute your Bitcoins to them evenly unless you leave more detailed instructions about how to distribute them. If you, yourself, are not taken in Rapture, you can contact me directly and identify yourself via and agreed upon identification mechanism and I will transfer your Bitcoins back to you directly. I am willing to provide this service without any fees to you or your friends in light of these glorious times.
Maybe you are a lonely soul but what about your pets? I am also offering pet sitting services after the Rapture. Transfer me your Bitcoins as stated above and I will give you my address to ships your pet to me. I will keep them here at my ranch where they will be happy and free to roam and play with other animals until the End Times. Ask about my Noah's Ark discount (Note: pets do need to be male and female to receive the Noah's Ark discount).
Thank You and Have a Blessed Rapture.

Anyone have a dead 5850 Reference card that would be willing to sell a working stock cooler? Prefer 5850 but 5870 will probably work too if it has thermal pads intact.

I can see them on Bitcoin Charts as unconfirmed but new transactions are confirming no problem. How can I find out what's wrong/more info? I can't find any info on Block Explorer with any of this info.

It looks like every time a new block is generated on www.bitcoinmonitor.com Long Polling kicks in on mining clients and the pool start working on the most current block. Is this correct? That seems to be extremely inefficient constantly dumping work every time a new block is created. If a new block is generated every 10 minutes then each block only gets 10 minutes of work (abeit from each long polling pool) before it's dumped and moves onto the next block. I've seen 3 new block created within 2-3 minutes of each other, and as many as 12 in an hour. Wouldn't it be more efficient to skip x number of new blocks, relative to pool speed, while working on a block until the pool solves it, or detect that someone else has claimed/solved it? I haven't been able to tell from looking at blockexplorer.com how to find out if a block has been claimed/solved.

So if a bitcoin can be carried out to 8 decimal places ...
is a bitcoin 1.00 BTC or 0.01 BTC
if 1.00 is a bitcoin, is 0.01 a bitcent?
conversly, if a bitcoin in 0.01, is a 1.00 a bitdollar?
