This is the kickoff to the crowd sale test runs to get a feel for how well this will work on bitcointalk and curecoin.net/forum. Before it begins please know that all round 1 contributions MUST be posted on https://www.curecoin.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3902&p=5659#p5658 for approval, any unapproved contributions will not be awarded in curecoin. This is a proactive way of dealing with the large amount of curecoin in donation wallets without saturating the market. Since this will sovle a lot of market saturation issues it can be expected that the price of curecoin will now follow the basic scarcity model as it is intended. Total BTC maximum is 5 BTC in round 1. The first crowd sale will be for Curecoin development. 10,000 Curecoins will be divided up among the contributors. Minimum contribution in round 1 is 0.25 BTC. Minimum goal for release of curecoins to contributors is 2.5 BTC. This will be round 1 of roughly 45 rounds spread over time (again depending on response). After this there will be a curecoin crowd sale for ; a.ANTRUK: Learn More on the ANTRUK homepage. http://www.antibioticresearch.org.uk/ b.Bonfils: Learn More on the Bonfils Blood Center homepage. http://www.bonfils.org/index.cfm/medical-services/research/This will repeat if the response is good. If you are interested please head over to https://www.curecoin.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3902&p=5659#p5658Create a login if you do not have one. The crowd sale is going to be hosted on curecoin.net to keep the even orginazed and bring some traffic to the curecoin forum. Bitcointalk private messages can be utilized also if need be. cross linked to this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=603757.msg14277106#msg14277106

First of all, Id like to say hats off to both teams (cure and grid), both have done an excellent job of making a massive increase in the computational power of research DCN's. Instead of mining, try scientific mining / folding Just pick a coin and do some science with those watts ! Curecoin launches on the largest scientific DCN in the world Folding@home that was pushing roughly 45 petaflops (currently 40) vs entire boinc network at < 10 petaflops (currently 8 ). During the first month of production curecoin peaked at 255 million PPD in F@H benchmarking, even at 200 mill PPD reaching ~38% of the networks total power. Curecoin max speed 40%+ of 48+* petaflops = 19.2 petaflops (more than 2x as fast as the entire boinc network all users combined ) Curecoin current speed 7% of F@H network @ 40 petaflops = 2.8 petaflops ref -> http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s= and http://folding.stanford.edu/Gridcoin current speed 14% of Boinc network @ 7.951 PetaFLOPS = 1.11 petaflops ref-> http://www.allprojectstats.com/showteam.php?projekt=0&id=1822494 and http://boinc.berkeley.edu/*forum posts suggest Curecoin may have increased F@H production by as much as 33% meaning total pflops may have peaked at ~ 60 pflops. Notable achievements of both curecoin and gridcoin Curecoin at rank #5 on F@H for all time stats Gridcoin at rank #10 on boinc for all time stats Gridcoin team first scientific mining coin to launch Curecoin team first to break 19+ petaflop barrier world record in a single research team Again. hats off to both teams, instead of mining, try scientific mining / folding Just pick a coin and do some science with those watts !

In about 1 month, Team Curecoin has folded so many proteins with the F@H clients, we have climbed the ranks faster then any team in history, and this is going up against teams that have been folding for up to ~14 years. Currently Team Curecoin is still more the 3x as fast as the old fastest teams. Jump on board with a coin that is doing good for medical science. Proof is in the numbers http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=224497Since Curecoin utilizes gpus and cpus to do the research , and ASICs to keep the blocks flowing, we have opened up an avenue where gpus can contribute directly to science, which for outdoes even powerful cpu's. Take a look at http://Curecoin.net for info on how to join the fastest research coin community on earth.

Network security from hashing is good. Getting blockchain based rewards is great. Curing Cancer, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, preventing viruses, and designing next-level pharmaceuticals is awesome. What if we could put these together, to build a coin secured and run by crypto, mined with SHA256, and supported by cancer-curing research? CureCoin has combined computational biology with secure blockchain technologyWhat benefits does it provide? Most currencies are either in the CPU/GPU stage, or in the ASIC stage. Curecoin can be earned with both. Folders use high-end GPUs and CPUs to fold proteins, earning a proportional amount of coins set-aside for their contributions. Miners mine with SHA256 ASICs as usual, securing the blockchain for the Curecoin network. Whether you are heavily in ASIC equipment or still have GPUs and CPUs, you can participate. Due to the nature of folding (diverse, constantly changing, not easily predictable), GPUs and CPUs will both always be relevant, so the cost in consumer hardware isn't wasted. How is it different? Curecoin allows owners of both ASIC and GPU/CPU hardware to earn. Curecoin puts ASICs to work at what they are good at--securing a blockchain, while it puts GPUs and CPUs to work with work items that can only be done on them--protein folding. While still having a secure blockchain, it supports, and thus is supported by, scientific research. While it isn't technically 'backed' by scientific research (there's no central authority you can visit to trade coins for scientific research) the coin has intrinsic value as both a currency and as a system of purchasing a tradeable representation of medical research. Similar to the idea of carbon offsets, someone with money can buy some Curecoins which represent a proportional amount of scientific/medicinal research, while someone with tech know-how can also contribute to the folding effort, doing the hands-on work, and gain profit. The value imbued into each unit of the currency from the folding network it represents would add additional traction and inertia to the coin's trading value. As time goes on and the amount of folding done for the network increases, the amount of research that each coin represents grows. How does the network maintain balance? Since the daily total from network output from both mining and folding are locked at 20:80, an increase in miners will subsequently raise the scarcity of the currency (per capita), resulting in folding becoming even more profitable and in-demand, encouraging additional folding power. Vice-versa, an increase in folding power will likewise indirectly cause a delayed increase in the network security. Pegging the reward of each type of work to a constant value allows the change to hit a brick wall in changing the currency distribution, which causes other parts of the equation to expand--mining/network security, and folding/coin value. This value in medical research and network security both act to influence the USD/CUR trading value. As the folding and hashing efforts grow, the currency becomes more scarce per capita, creating a general increasing trend of monetary value. Just like any other crypto, Curecoin is a currency, but in this case, one that has more adding to its value than cryptographic security. Is Curecoin limited to only protein-folding? No! As the network evolves, additional scientific computing projects can be easily added, in which case the folding reward would become a scientific-computation reward, and would be split fairly between various projects (including CPU-only ones!), and could be done so in either a way to encourage people to balance the projects, or in such a way that people can do whatever project they wish, and receive the same or very similar profits. Coin specifications Mining: 13 coins per block (start) 1 block per 10 minutes Block-halving every 4 years Folding: 7488 per day (average of 52 per block) (start) PoS interest rate = 1% Reward-halving every 4 years Rewards processed on a daily basis, based on points earned PoS mintage model also included. How does this benefit someone with GPU/CPU power? Rather than mining alt currencies with a (in comparison to ASIC and FPGA equipment) very inefficient hash-generator which uses large amounts of electricity, you can do protein folding (which uses less electricity), earn great returns, contribute to a variety of great computational scientific research, and decrease the wear-and-tear on your precious hardware. Indirectly, you also cause increases in ASIC mining power through network rebalancing. Additionally, NVidia cards are great at folding! How does this benefit someone with ASIC power? As someone with ASIC mining power, you can help increase the network security of Curecoin, earn good money from your work (through the proof-of-work block reward of Curecoin), and indirectly support folding efforts through network rebalancing. How is the blockchain reward divided up? Curecoins go to three main areas: Folders, Miners, and Developers. The folders get 76% of the total rewards (80% of the coins distributed per day). SHA256 miners get 19% of the total rewards (20% of the coins distributed per day). 2% of the total reward was distributed to people who donated to project development. The other 3% is dedicated to Curecoin developers, and will be used infrastructure (such as website hosts, chat hosting, technical support, etc.), and for giving back to the community (folding hardware giveaways, faucets, covering 0% mining pools, etc.). Curecoin is now ready for launch! Down to the details. Folders will receive 80% of the available coins, 20% will go to SHA miners to secure the block chain. The coin was redesigned to be very much like the original BTC. A similar total coins, same block target time ( 10 minute blocks on SHA POS coin base ) for reduced block chain bloat. The coins will mint for ~100 years like the original BTC. To receive your curecoins via folding you will have to sign up at Cryptobullionpools.com and also with F@H using the same username which is case sensitive. Easy as pie, contribute to cures and earn curecoins. There are instructions on the about tab of the folding pool to help you get started. All early investors will be receiving your awaited email with simple instructions to claim the coins you invested into. Thats the short of it. The rest will be seen when official release is here. Source code and binaries will be posted in 5-7 days. The system is ready to go, but to adhere to fair launch rules here is the PRE ANN. Many thanks to all the supporters of the project. All aspects of Curecoin will be running under openssl 101g from the start, from the coin base to the folding pool. Lets get ready to fold and see what this hybrid cancer curing cryptocurrency will bring. You will be glad to know that protein folding is more finely tuned for each specific GPU / CPU and therefor consumes less electricity, creates less heat and wear on your equipment. Very unlike Crypto mining where one can be stuck pushing cards to their limits. Thanks for your time and support crypto fans! CygnusXI

EDIT - Fundraiser offer is officially closed. No more BTC is needed to get curecoin up and running Note: We have run into a very powerful investor who I will not name currently, but if more funds are needed this investor is standing by ready to increase our funding dramatically. With the new found support of university members, Curecoin is sure to be a great coin. To make the folding system secure will not be inexpensive. Enter BTC for Curecoin Fundraiser. For every BTC donated, you will be reserved 10k Curecoins, that will be paid within a week from launch day, using the dev funds built into the coin to make it self-sustaining. I will have the ledger on this google doc. As you can see there are already a few donors with a secured reward of curecoin. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvPoRrj3QF5sdGw4S09tYXFfQ3JhN1hicGkxMHpoLUE#gid=0 Donation addy's are in sig Thanks for the support. EDIT - Donations are coming in fast, the total of 11 btc goal is leaving roughly room for one more donation to secure Curecoins. Please send me a message before donating to see if you can still qualify for the 1 BTC = 10k CUR fundraiser.

New 11/14/2013 - Conference call with devs of curecoin and Stanford university on Tues 19th of Nov Curecoin launch as of now is going to be delayed. Plans to work with Pande Labs at Stanford university will soon be discussed between Pande Labs team and Curecoin devs! I will post on update asap when I get more news. Network security from hashing is good. Making money is great. Curing Cancer, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, preventing viruses, and designing next-level pharmaceuticals is awesome. How does this benefit an investor or speculator? If you are going to invest in a crypto, CureCoin is a great choice, as it has more intrinsic value than any other alternate currency based on its pseudo-backing (support) from computational scientific research, and allows you to profit by supporting life-saving computational research. Due to CureCoin's mission, CureCoin will grow quickly, and will likely attract positive media attention. How is the currency divided up? CureCoins go to three main areas: Folders, Miners, and Developers. The folders and miners both get 45% of the coins in the network. The other 10% is dedicated to CureCoin developers, and will be used for paying for development costs (such as hiring professional programmers, paying for infrastructure, etc.), and for giving back to the community (folding hardware giveaways, faucets, covering 0% mining pools, etc.). We will have a team of at least 3 people standing by for tech support if you need help folding for the first time. Current folding support members include experienced folders including Vorksholk, Yeltz, and myself, CygnusXI. The Franko Collective has been very generous in helping the CureCoin team with our research! Now you can fold and earn Frankos site : http://cryptobullionpools.comWhat is folding at home? Stanford's Distributed computing project that aims to make better medicine and possibly even replace deadly chemo therapy with a cell specific nuclear medicine, and much more. For a very detailed guide ( Thanks Vorksholk ) see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=268556.0Lets come together and throw a little gpu power / cpu power at the folding project, and show the world what the crypto community can do. All previous users your name is still in the database. New users please follow the guide to ensure you are credited and receive your Frankos. As always I must thank everyone that has helped us get so far. The CureCoin team is currently holding around rank 570! Thanks to Franko Collective for making this possible with your donations! Current payout will start small and increase as more folders start completing work units. Enjoy

In order to create a solid curecoin, I would like to increase the size and skill range of the team. We have a few decent programmers working their butts off, however my drive to make this coin solid is leaving us with endless ideas for improvements. Please post your area of expertise and previous bitcoin community reputation if you want. If you just want to be a supporter / promoter please make a post too. I plan on making a list of contributors. As you may recall the curecoin dev budget allows for compensation even to forum promoters.
here is the rough draft from before... was looking for suggestions... curecoin dev budget rough draft v1.1 10% advertising 10% forum promotions - including universisty forums. 10% For stanford university to improve folding network. 10% Dev future updates on coin source and folding integration system 30% nvidia hardware giveaways 10% website / hosting DDos protection for backbone nodes. 10% promoting services to accept / trade curecoins 10% Huh? need more ideas <<<<< more nvidia giveaways??
Im thinking if i can build a big enough team of devs and promoters i should use the remaining 10% for devs / promoters .
As far as the alpha pool run time and cure launch time, the fundraiser created enough funds for me to launch a larger scale alpha... which i think is a good idea. This larger scale beta will have better DDOS protection and we will try to refine the current code a bit more ofcourse. This will be a good show of what the system will be capable of. The current system is hosted on basic services with basic protection. I think if i can show the crypto community the potential of the system we will be able to drive the fundraiser more to create a full scale very solid curecoin, one not easily attacked.
With updates constantly coming out for cryptocoin security , such as the new updates from Gavin Andresen to the Bitcoin client, security is a huge concern for me. With more devs on the team to help secure the coin we can make a great coin to be traded, and hopefully create better medicines and medical tech in the process by supporting the folding@home project.

Testing of the Curecoin code is going well. Its time to build a network that can support and protect Curecoin. Initial fundraiser goal 10 - 20 BTC Items needed: Priority Items:Multiple high power vps ( need enough to cover atleast 6 months of usage) Expansion of current hosting services for websites DDOS protection ( need enough to cover atleast 6 months of usage) Medium priority itemsAdvertising campaigns (facebook, google) BTC for supporters that have put many hours of work into curecoin ( Yeltz did a nice job with the logo, Cryptobullion has been coding for the folding pool, and the dev who has built the coin base is going to kick me when i ask for one more change to get added ) Low priorityAND last but not least - SETI pool start up funds are needed. Since the dev budget of curecoin allows for payment of these services, hopefully the coin will sustain itself when it is released. And as bonus to all donators, a portion of the first months dev fund of curecoins will be set aside as rewards to any who donated. If you want to donate to any specific part of the cause plz post your amount donated and what part of the project you want to contribute to. Donation addresses BTC 1JESUEbmih1gET4Y5RNQV4Z2mf2RqwwYBx LTC LZEm1MTpT7F5EhVLNHnxqbbhJCJ8DpvD29 Many thanks to everyone who helped us get his far, and many thanks to those who help us launch the official Curecoin Edit: added a break down of fund usage in 2nd post

Just logging on for a moment to let you all know who the work of curecoin is dedicated to. Richard Christie was a smart guy... he could do math in his head faster than you can put it in a calculator. He died from pancreatic cancer, without much warning. When he was dieing, he left behind a small crystal pyramid with a note inside, that read " this is my wish, cure my cancer " Curecoin dev progress is good. I hope to see a large amount of people folding for the cause. The alpha pool was just relaunched, plz stop by and fold a couple work units I cant make any promises but if all goes well curecoin will be launched in 1 - 3 weeks. side note = The " marathon goddess " is running a marathon in about a week dedicated to his memory. Just Google marathon goddess if you want to read about her. She runs marathons in the name of cures and hope.

Curecoin.net and Curecoin.info to be launched soon Subdomains available on curecoin.net for anyone who wants to have a crypto service for curecoin. Please pm me your idea for approval. Stores that will get approval will have to have a positive clean image to them. Please don't ask to run any type of adult themed or illegal service. Gambling services i will most likely not approve for a curecoin subdomain, unless maybe it can be proven to be a legal establishment. Bitcoin was just declared a legal currency according to that article floating around. Lots of opportunity there i think for a gambling service of crypto to be legit if they wanna play the game right. Im hoping the new ruling about crypto helps get crypto into storefronts in the US, and other places. It should be easy to run a legit crypto business now, just gotta pay those taxes... something bitcoin miners are cringing at the thought of... Top priorities quality block explorer quality web stores for gpus + pc equipment ( everyone here loves the smell of anti static wrap on a freshly opened gpu )

Curecoin points in the last 24 hours = 1,006,625 Intel Team points in the last 24 = 960,511 "Team Intel tries to compete, but has been stricken down by the Curecoin!!!" Curecoin points so far today = 375,055 Pande Labs points so far today = 362,715 "Pande Labs is holding in the fight , but team Curecoin is not done yet!!!" Curecoin http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=224497Pande Labs http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=1Intel http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=711This is a great success. I'm going to have coffee with a potential investor to curecoin today. This person wishes to see this project happen and said he is willing to cover some start up expenses. I plan on starting a fund raiser to cover the rest soon after Im done with this meeting. The curecoin team is growing powerful in more ways than folding power, people are supporting the project more than ever. Now lets keep kicking the pants off team Intel and Pande Labs

8/4/13 Website is up, please come sign up if you want to be a part of the curecoin team, or just to discuss. http://curecoin.us/8/1/13 The source code for the official curecoin is ready for testing. I have some more logo ideas coming my soon from a supporter of curecoin. Last chance coming soon to submit a logo!!!! Team is still on track to hit the 1200 Rank very soon. PPD is going back down a little, I just fired up 25000 ppd on my pc to give it a little boost back up. Website to be launched ASAP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7/31/13 Update, good news, I had mentioned the dev im working with was busy with his own project, but he did just contact me and is helping me fine tune the final client right now. (Exactly why i wanted to find an experienced dev, the coin model is looking very good) Many many thanks to all his efforts. Im still planning on releasing the short term beta of curecoin at this point, before the official is launched. I want to give stanford time to prepare for the big event. Ill give it another week and shoot an email and see what their report is. I have room for some more team members. If anyone knows a lot of the folding client, I can use your help especially. There will be lots of users needing help to get the fullest from their folding clients. I wont be able to help them all. If i can get a small group of novice or expert folders to join me in helping provide support to new folders, it will make a big impact. So far username dudeami has been very helpful with getting new users up and going at the best speeds possible. Thanks dudeami ! Soon ill have a curecoin forum going again and we can start sharing our folding tips there. If you have any ideas of how you can contribute, or just idea to spit out, plz post or pm me. The amount of support is growing quickly now, and its helping a lot. If you have a blog, let everyone know about the current creation progress of curecoin, and point people to the current folding pool so we can build the team and hopefully make a dent in all the wu's at stanford. Side note : We should be hitting the milestone 1200 way quicker than expected. Everyone on this team, THANKS!!!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Down to details, i want share these details so they can be discussed, argued, etc, until we hopefully reach a consensus. If need be we can add a poll or two to vote on whatever the community proposes. Basic working of curecoin. 100 coins per block, 45 coins go straight to miners, 45 coins subsidy goes into a foundation folding wallet ( to be drained completely every 24 hours to all the folders ) and 10 coins goes into the Dev wallet. Here is my current thoughts, this is the 10 coins per block, split into smaller portions to be used as follows. If this is totally unacceptable ill scratch it. There is 20% of the budget left, because i know im forgetting something.... curecoin dev budget rough draft v1.1 10% advertising 10% forum promotions - including universisty forums. 10% For stanford university to improve folding network. 10% Dev future updates on coin source and folding integration system 30% nvidia hardware giveaways 10% website / hosting DDos protection for backbone nodes. 10% promoting services to accept / trade curecoins 10% ? need more ideas <<<<< more nvidia giveaways?? -- forgot to reduce this ten % when i increased Nvidia giveaway portion by 10 % - fixed Im thinking about shaving 2% off all the item to add to the Nvidia GPU giveaways. Even though ATI now folds well, Nvida users wont get their cards and use them for mining, just one more way to increase the folding project. As you see its a rounded numbers rough draft. i think comparatively there are other coins with much larger dev budgets. So far Ive funded this project with my own coins and the donations of others. Not one of those coins was used for anything but paying folders. I still have ~250 freicoins left from a donation months ago for a bounty to hit 1000000 points. this bounty goal was never reached ( will be soon ), but i held the coins even after my site was hacked an i lost contact with most of my folders. Freicoin has been syncing fine forme last time i tried. if someone hits 1M they are yours. its not much, but its a promise to pay for effort. I would have another site up and going already, the last one had ~decent security upgrades, but i launched the site in a hurry, i have another properly secured forum that has stood tall for a year or so even through a barrage of attacks ( a gaming forum ). Its been months since ive made a post in my gaming forum. Not important compared to launching curecoin. Point is, ill get a site up... just give a little time so this time its secure, ill take my time on it. I might scratch the smf idea completely because it requires constant updates. Im only one man, im not sure if the devs i was talking to are still with me.... but its ok. Ive been making practice coins for months now. I plan on having a gui that isnt ass ugly too, I like doing gui design, i used to spend a bit of time customizing gui's on my own personal programs. The official is going to need to have a lot of work done. The short term beta is going to be used as a scale to know what kind of difficulty retargets to use, and also get an idea of how fast coins will be produced, to create a proper coin cap that will not approach anytime soon. Im certainly not an economics buff, but i now know enough from watching other coins the basics of how it behaves due to these variables. Any economists feel free to give your 2 cents. Since there is an immense amount of security required, im keeping in contact with Stanford. Their eyes are on us to make sure nothing goes wrong. Im not sure if he is allowed to directly endorse bitcoin as currency but he has given approval of the curecoin folding team. He informed me they are "preparing" for whats to come. Their IT team should be able to handle security on their end. Soon you will get a better idea of the work and learning i did to finally emerge with a solution to create curecoin. Enough of my rambling, please send your input about the payout system and dev budget, feel free to poke holes in my idea. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The code required to make curecoin work is getting closer to complete. i have been working on the overall design of the system ever since i announced it months ago... learning all i can to make sure curecoin is done right. Sure, i could have done a quick cookie cutter, but ive been in contact with a large number of people getting input from specialists of all kinds. Once the kinks are worked out of the pool we will lift the registration limit and drop a pile of cryptocurrencies to folders while we wait for the official launch. Cryptobullions Folding pool is full right now, but his fastcoin pool is open, visit there with some hashes to thank him for the hard work on the curecoin project. If all goes well we will see official curecoin or the beta (Center for Disease Control) launched in a week. cloudcoin kinda messed up my 3 letter call for the beta coin.... Thanks to Hydroponica and techbytes for their donations to the project! Thanks to SistaFista who has agreed to donate a large amount to the folding effort
