Why is there only really BFL and Avalon making ASIC. It still seems so fishy. I want to know why these are the only two real people making it, why hasn't someone else done it, and if so why are they selling them and such limited amount, versus using it for themselves, it just all doesn't make sense to me.

I had a thought as I was looking through all of my old bitcoin articles and whatnot. I got to thinking about when bitcoin price had plummeted, people may have been discouraged, others may have given up, or there may even be some that had just started and completely forgot about it!
It makes me think, what if it becomes a hobby, to start going through all these old hard drives and old computers laptops etc., For peoples bitcoin they forgot about. I feel like it would be similar to looking for gold, at the beach in the sand!!
I can come up with TONS of reasons this may be possible, and people have moved past the drive, CD, flash, or whole computer since the creation. People originally may have: Thought they deleted a wallet, kids got computer taken by parents, had a backup on a drive they forgot about, abandoned bitcoin completely with active wallets, donated a drive to a school etc., The list goes on and on.
I think it would be a pretty neat idea, if you had a basic idea of where to look. (may need Googles help of course) I think this may be plausible now, or more so in the future. I think it might be more of a, "Oh wow, Jackpot", scenario though. I also think it might be comparable to digging for diamonds in reality; but still was a neat little ponderance. Thoughts or Stories?

So I was playing my morning rounds of, satoshi dice, when this beauty popped up. Got me to thinking about my worst experience, thought it would be cool to start a thread to share some stories. As for me, I was playing one day a while back. I decided I was going to play down one of my wallets. I decided I was going to try and hit under 1000, I was playing and playing and playing 1 bitcoin a roll. Finally got to .02 BTC left in my wallet. I said screw it I need to get out of my house anyway. Put it up. And what do you know: 998. Nice to see it was possible, not happy because I had made about 30 tries >< That's my story, anyone else care to share?

If I wanted to build a single tower for bitcoins, is this plausible? Or a single unit with maybe 8 to 16 gpus? My big worry is honestly noise and heat because I live with other people. Money is not so much a problem. I just want to start contributing to mining and join a pool. I have been into bitcoin since about fall? of 2012? I believe. So I was wondering is this feasible if I just wanted to do this rather than have a gigantic rig or something i need like a huge heat vent for.
I just want to know if this is plausible. Looking mostly around 8 GPU's.
Thank you!!

I see a lot of people trading using the word Escrow for bitcoins. I do not know too much about it, except I have used it with elance in the past. But how does it work, and how does it apply to trading with bitcoins?
Just curious thanks

I have a quick thought/question on private keys.
Say I use Multibit or another wallet. I decide I want to export a wallet to a private key. I export it to a external harddrive, Encrypt the key, Delete the wallet, and unplug the harddrive.
As long as I do not get the hard drive stolen, I am the only one with access to the coins? Is this a good source of back up?
Thoughts, I am just thinking of different methods of back up.

I have been using a few ways to move bitcoin around and I believe I have a good hold on it. But beside a bankwire, I use BTC-E and just paypal, which is a pain in the ass fee for a quick buck. Is there any opinion on which sites have best options for US bitcoin users, whether it is prepaid cards, or WU options. I just want to know easiest methods. I know the stickies and google, and I know all the sites, I am just was wondering personal opinions on ease of use etc., Again mostly under 1000 cash withdrawals. Thankss Thanks guys!!
