1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Other alt coins with same problem as btc on: May 21, 2016, 08:05:43 AM
So Mike Hearns claims bitcoin is in trouble because of the 1 mb limit among other things. Assuming he is right, (THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ON IF HE IS RIGHT OR NOT), what other altcoins would this 1mb limit affect?

For instance, if BTC starts to fail, would it take LTC with it?
What coins future are tied to BTC?
What other popular Altcoins don't have this issue?
2  Other / Meta / purpose of locking threads on: April 01, 2016, 10:34:18 PM
I was in the lending section and saw some posts locked. Why would someone lock threads? What purpose does it serve? When should I lock threads?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Gridcoin vs curecoin on: April 01, 2016, 09:41:20 PM
I invested in curecoin and then found out about gridcoin. Both are "help the medical world" coins. Which one has better LONG term prospects and why? Are there other coins in this sphere?
4  Economy / Long-term offers / .5btc for 1 year on: March 25, 2016, 03:06:31 AM
Loan amount : .5BTC
Collateral : 125% alt coin. 20% of which is returned in 6 months
Loan reason : Investing and long term plans*
Your BTC address : 17g4kvcRHVtea62iMFp7XussVNrgbb1FkA
Repayment offered : .005 every month, .5 at the end of the year.
Date of repayment : Monthly interest. Principal at end of year. Possibility of calling the loan early.

*More about the loan reason.
I have been successfully making enough to use this .5 to make money for me while still paying you back. I also make enough to pay you back if Murphy's law takes over. My long term goals (years) are multiple: Learning more of the lending/borrowing process, fine tuning my investments, becoming a contributor, getting an unsecured loan, grow my ratings. I have no idea what will ever be possible and that is ok. One step at a time.

Some will say, "what about BTCJam or [insert name here] loan?". Those would be better but I don't qualify for those sites since I'm from an "undesirable" country. Some might say, "Just take it out on your credit card." I have done that some (how do you think I'll get the alt coin for collateral?). However, it's better for the loan to be in BTC since I'm paying BTC to mitigate exchange rate issues. I also have other long range goals in mind and getting a loan here helps those goals.

As you can see from my rating, I'm new to the forums. I've tried to put something together fair to both parties based on other posts I've read. If it isn't, I'm sure someone will tell me  Wink Please don't knock me down without giving me a chance to correct issues as my reputation is important to me for my long term goals.

Reputable loaners only. Neither side of this wants to be scammed.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Lending bot on android on: March 24, 2016, 10:03:16 PM
So I've been using the lending bot at https://github.com/Mikadily/poloniexlendingbot and see it's potential. I have it running fine from my computer but was hoping to run it from my android phone. When I try to run it I get a read only error. I've tried to run it via a terminal and qpython with no luck. Has anyone been able to run it from android?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Get an original address back on: March 18, 2016, 12:57:37 PM
So I'm new at cryptocurrencies but hope to not be learning the hard way. I installed a unobtanium wallet on my android phone. I copied down the address. I sent some coins to the wallet, but when I opened up the wallet, the address had changed. How do I get the original address (and the coins) back?
