1  Economy / Collectibles / [INFO] [PSA] Sending unloaded / loaded collectibles to and from Europe on: December 19, 2023, 11:32:23 AM
Since the new regulation of January 2023, EU customs has started to verify the loaded balance on paper wallets and coins.

Bitcoin is now considered to be currency, transport without declaration is illegal.

Items with a loaded value of above 1000 euro may be seized for unauthorised money transmission. This is why most makers actually should only load once the item is the the hands of the collector.

We've been asked to consult DHL and Dutch customs on how to check for these balances.

When shipping an item; even with correct declaration, be prepared for thorough checks.

2  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Bitcoin Exclusive from now on. on: October 31, 2023, 06:29:25 PM
To commemorate fifteen years of Bitcoin...

I'm happy to announce that today all shareholders agreed to drop all other cryptocurrency projects under the Polymerbit brand name.

In practice this means we sold rights to a third party. Bitcoin exclusive Polymerbits from now on.
3  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Krogothmanhattan x Polymerbit: Customer DIY key generation with Trezor on: June 03, 2023, 05:48:10 PM
Customer DIY key generation with Trezor

During brunch in NYC, Krog and I were discussing issues faced by the collectible community.  The fact that a buyer has to inherently trust the keymaker to remain honest is a flaw. Polymerbit attempted to test how the market reacts to an alternative by releasing those DIY triangle notes in A4 format. Our findings were clear; only one buyer actually reported adding keys on the note. The fact that most people do not have an air gapped printer, meant that few were willing to go ahead with DIY keys. This stopped the DIY project dead in its tracks, forcing us to scrap the rest of the series. Korg suggested to try something new that may be useful to various coin makers. All coin makers are welcome to test this as well. In theory, this should allow Trezor holders to easily request custom keys for works issued by Polymerbit and others.

A unique test print was made using this process, with the note being shipped to Korg. These notes would not be resold, but would be useful as gifts or for a personal collection.

-------

WARNING: Run a malware and antivirus program prior to starting.

Reset a Trezor hardware wallet.
Write down the 12- or 24-word seed clearly on a piece of paper in the right order
Create a long passphrase, at least 16 characters long using letters, numbers and symbols. The longer the better.

Copy the public address given for the passphrase hidden wallet. Copy the QR code as well by using a screenshot if need be.

To verify correct transcription, you can confirm the backup via the Trezor “CHECK BACKUP” option or reset the Trezor, and input the seed and then the passphrase. If the correct seed and passphrase are input, then the same public address you have copied will be shown again. If not then you made a mistake and need to try again to confirm that what you wrote down is correct. There can be no errors in this procedure. Once they match, then send the public key to Polymerbit.

Sending the SEED and the PUBLIC KEYS to POLYMERBIT

A different device should be used to send the seed to Polymerbit. This is so in the event the computer where the Trezor passphrase is being created is infected or has a keylogger, the only item the hacker will get is the passphrase, which will be useless without the seed.

For additional security, the seed could also be mailed physically.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

So, as a precaution the seed should be uploaded to Polymerbit’s website via a different device. The passphrase and the seed should never be seen on the same computer at all to ensure there is no vulnerability.

In the event the seed is compromised, it will be useless without the passphrase and the same if the passphrase is compromised, it is useless without the seed.

The passphrase should be made of alphanumeric/symbols and be at least 16 characters long. Customer should be made aware to never share it and to place in secure spot. As the only way to be able to redeem the notes is with that passphrase and without it, then the Bitcoin will be lost forever.

5  Economy / Collectibles / [PSA] [ANN] Check your cardinals and penguins to see if they are loaded on: February 21, 2023, 11:05:18 PM
Hello Everyone,

It appears that some of the cardinals and penguin notes from 2019 were left unfunded.

While this could be due not following up, it could also be an error on our end.

Either way, any notes that should be funded, WILL be funded.

I'll be back in England on March 8th, and will check the cold storage wallet designated for funding these notes.

So far known:

Northern Cardinal (66 pcs made)

41 - ready to fund

42 - listed as error note in spreadsheet, will verify

48 - ready to fund

49 - ready to fund

Please post here if you find any of these two notes unfunded.

6  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] [CAUTION] Polymerbit 10 year Anniversary (2019) notes (Keys by Yogg). on: January 13, 2023, 03:08:28 AM
I apologise for the informal manner of this thread...but time is of the essence. As you know, there is a situation with ColdKey. Speculation is rife; and there is evidence of private keys being compromised.

For the safety of our clients, I'm releasing this PSA.

We recommend to peel any ten year anniversary notes immediately.

We are offering a trade in program, read in the comments.

Early 2019, 21 pcs, loaded.

The keys on these notes were not made in house, and we cannot verify the integrity at this time.

----------

No other polymerbit notes are affected.
7  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] [DISCUSSION] Not your keys, not your coins test on: December 10, 2022, 11:52:16 AM
From exchanges robbing users, to increasingly encroaching KYC checks and laws...'Not your keys, not your coins' is becoming increasingly apparent.

Polymerbit will start experimenting with DIY wallets without keys again, to be made at home discretely. These wallets will be intended for large amounts of Bitcoin.

I'm working on launching a new note before the end of this year as a test.

In short, we need your help.

The challenge facing us is how to make user friendly DIY wallets.

Anyone offering to test these wallets and provide feedback on this thread will be offered the note for £10 (half price).

The forum member who finds a safe, easy-to-use open source method to generate the keys and provides a step by step guide using our paper wallets will be offered a £250 polymerbit gift card valid for two years.

8  Economy / Collectibles / [INFO] Crypto collectibles interacting with the Numismatic Market: Examined on: September 01, 2022, 06:44:47 PM
TLDR;
We used the World's Fair of Money as an opportunity to gauge reactions of a strictly traditional numismatic market.
Our hypothesis was that crypto currency collectibles would be swiftly rejected.
The actual results were mixed, but also extremely promising.
The main takeaway we got from this was that people are receptive but lack the understanding of how crypto works.
Therefore; first and foremost- we have a responsibility to educate people about crypto.

9  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] [WTS] Czech Edition- A true homage! on: August 13, 2022, 10:12:24 PM
What is the Czech Edition?

This is no ordinary Polymerbit note. It represents a major leap forward for our products and is in actuality a homage to Státní tiskárna cenin in Prague. The banknote printer of the Czech Republic. For in 2018, they assisted in a major milestone by working with us on the paper this very note is printed on. STC paper has been used by us since 2019 in many cold storage documents. From the Northern Cardinal to the Crypto Valley Series.

The first sheets were presented to them to showcase how we contributed.

Normally we do not offer this option. But you can request any of the following serial numbers by ordering them on here until 15.08.2022. US customers until 25.08.2022;

10  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] [INFO] World's Fair of Money in Chicago - review coming soon on: August 03, 2022, 05:53:57 PM
We will be attending with a table starting on August 18th and will bring some Bitcoin collectibles, not just Polymerbit notes.

I'm curious to see how the greater numismatic market reacts to this niche. I will report back in this thread on our findings.

In the meantime, any Bitcointalk members are welcome to come visit us Smiley

I think we should celebrate Swiss National Day together.

So, I'm offering free intl. shipping today on orders over $30 if you use the code SWISS.

Polymerbit Behind the Scenes Thread: 5 YEARS LATER [Q&A].

Hello there,

I wanted to create a thread where we share some of the projects we are in the middle of working on / made in the past. The idea would be to show you some of the behind the scenes and open a discussion.

Certain photos will not be published; such as trade secrets, or the key making process.

But we will go into detail on our work and will answer questions from the community on anything that isn't sensitive.

17  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] [DISCUSSION] Why I plan to destroy 80% of the 2021 Blue Jays on: December 11, 2021, 01:45:02 AM
Normally I would be here proudly announcing the full release of the awaited Blue Jay.

The birds of the World Series have been some of our best work. My personal favourite; the 5 mbtc Northern Cardinal- really challenged us to push beyond our comfort zone.

Unfortunately, I cannot do that today. At Polymerbit, we understand the importance of releasing a quality product.

As such, we will be burning a good portion of the run. And trying again, from scratch.

See for yourself:

18  Economy / Collectibles / [ANN] Polymerbit Orange Loaded Certificates on: December 11, 2021, 01:22:24 AM

9 mbtc loaded

We have listened to the community and will release a limited run before the years end. We are considering an auction.

The goal would be to able to ship a few before Christmas!
19  Economy / Collectibles / [INTEREST CHECK] Polymerbit Loaded Certificates on: October 16, 2021, 05:17:02 PM

Adam has designed and been testing a pretty cool project. We intend to use these internally to store a part of the companies Bitcoin reserves.

However...

I cannot help but wonder if the community could be interested in possibly owning such a loaded cert.

Would this interest you?
