1  Local / Other languages/locations / sgBitcoin.net - Bitcoin News, Discussion Forum, and Marketplace for Singaporeans on: June 20, 2013, 02:47:39 PM
Hello fellow Singaporeans!

As a bitcoin user/investor since 2012, I've always lamented the lack of proper discussion platforms open to us Singaporeans. Aside from a few threads here, a couple more on HWZ, another couple on VR-Zone, there is no site where a collective gathering and discussion of Singaporean bitcoiners can take place.

Thus here is my attempt to fix this problem once and for all.

I'm doing my part to further bitcoin awareness and exposure in Singapore in my own little way, and that is to start my site, a forum, called www.sgbitcoin.net

In it, I will post significant news snippets which I come across for general users, provide a general discussion forum, and am also trying buying/selling BTC direct to users who don't want to mess with exchanges with Mt Gox, or want to liquidate (into or out of bitcoin) quickly, and anonymously

I also have a dedicated marketplace forum where any registered forum user can buy/sell currency, products, and services for bitcoin....basically a classifieds section, just for us Singaporeans

All discussion is welcome, there is no subscription, and no advertising, and all features are free-to-use. Not doing it to make money, just doing my part for bitcoiners in our little country.

The forum has only just been launched. Just some general rules & FAQs in place...as well as some interesting recent news snippets. It's all quite new and empty for now but I hope in time Singaporeans will come fill it up and eventually we can have a vibrant local community there.

Feel free to come visit...and of course...feedback is always welcome

Thanks

blackreplica (monkeyboy77 on the sgbitcoin forums)

BTW I'd like to give custom user titles for the pioneer batch of members (maybe the first 30-50 members or so), so if you register an account there, send me a PM on the sgbitcoin forums with the user title you would like (no expletives though!) and I'll get them done for you

2  Economy / Speculation / I see one of three possibilities for the next few days on: April 11, 2013, 07:40:32 AM
Oh no! Another guy with a chart and lines all over!

OK seriously here's my guess on where things are headed next. First some caveats

1 I am not God
2 I am not telling you what to do. If you're asking me what to do, I have no idea
3 I am using a log chart which can be argued is already inherently bullish

Initially before this correction, some felt we were on an (a) trendline. This trendline has now been broken. However a massive jump back in the next few days could put us back on the (a) warpath. In my opinion this is unlikely.

We now rest, at $180, on a slightly less bullish trendline corresponding to (b) which is forming a support. If i HAD to bet, I would unconfidently bet on this trendline dominating for the next week at least

In my opinion if we break below this support, our next support will be at (c), or if you base your judgements on a linear graph, possibly much lower (lets not be too hard on the permabears, their vision may come true in this case)

Personally I think if we drop to a (c) trendline we still have a chance at a relatively quick recovery but if we enter into a circa 2011 crash far below the (c) trendline, recovery will take as long as it did back then, possibly years

Take it for what it's worth.
3  Economy / Speculation / $95! on: March 28, 2013, 10:21:22 AM
Thats it, the last big step before 100. We may start a dip though with the weekend fast approaching. I think we will test $100 but only 50/50 we break past. Love to see where it goes
4  Economy / Speculation / We spike up at roughly the same time each day lately on: March 20, 2013, 03:47:02 PM
Just hit 63. If i recall it was around the same time yesterday when we ha a similar spike upwards. Since american markets have just opened around this time, maybe the americans can tell us what they know about bitcoint that the rest of us don't  Grin
5  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin on a tightrope on: March 07, 2013, 08:14:16 AM
We stand now at about $41. If the bears are right, we continue down to the 30s,maybe 20s, maybe less. If the bulls are right, the fall stops here and we start climbing, possibly past 50, hopefully at a pace with slightly less insanity

It's like a tipping point. I can't wait to see who wins, how exciting, i almost forget sometimes i own bitcoins, the show is so entertaining just to watch
6  Economy / Speculation / Your valuation of bitcoin in the year 2033 on: March 06, 2013, 07:21:48 AM
A little survey I read (and that was posted here not too long ago) put the average age of a bitcoin owner at right about 30 years old. Assuming it's true, lets add 20 years to it to give us the end of our investment horizon, giving us the year 2033. Most of us will be either about to retire, retired, or dare I say it, dead and gone by no later than that year.

How much do you think BTC will be worth then? Unfortunately we are constrained by the fact that we do not know what global currency bitcoin will be benchmarked against in future (it may not be USD, hell, BTC may be the de-facto global currency by then even) but for the sake of argument lets just use BTC/USD

I would like to think of this poll as an indicator of the how the bitcoin-savvy community thinks of where this new digital currency is headed, at any given point in time

You are allowed to change your vote in this poll when your opinion changes, so do so frequently. If everyone does this, the result of the poll will evolve to reflect changing market conditions, which makes it all the more interesting to follow

If this thread lasts to 2033 we can even start seeing who was right in the end  Cheesy (post your initial vote below, changing your vote in the poll above in the year 2032 to predict the price in 2033 doesn't give you true credit!)

I think BTC in 2013 will be popular enough for everyone in the world to know and use from time to time, but not enough to create a new world order. Thus I value BTC at about 5K USD per, by 2033. Feel free to post your vote and reasons below so the discussion keeps going.

I reserve the right to change my opinion later Wink
