1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nvidia P106-090 6GB cards low hashrate on: March 06, 2020, 03:55:58 PM
I just grabbed a few of these cards thinking I was getting a good deal on them, the seller did mention 22Mhs on Ethash in his listing, I did a quick research about the cards and I came across  this video of Bits be Trippin it clearly showed 22Mhs with great efficiency (the cards have a 75W TDP) and they run very cool.

After 2 days of playing around:

- I can't get the cards to hash at more than 14Mhs on Ethereum/Ethereum classic, I can, however, get 21MHs on expanse (lower epoch, smaller dag)
- I tried Linux and windows, with the same results, I tried drivers from 384 to 440
- On the site of Manli links to the drivers seem to be dead so not sure if I need these drivers specifically
- I came across this post mentioning the dag size issue so this is where it clicked for me
- These cards are 6GB cards, so they definitely still have enough room for the dag file at least for a couple more years.

My issue is that these cards are pretty much useless at everything except ethash, they have half of the computing units that of a normal GTX1060 6GB or a P106-100 cards (5 instead of 10), it seems like they were designed specifically for Ethash mining, I am hoping one of you out there have answers to how to resolve this.

Edit: At this point I know it is the DAG file size, I am trying to understand why is this happening when the card still has plenty of memory left? my hope is that someone has already figured out a solution since I can't find many people complaining about this card.
2  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin at the edge of death on: March 05, 2016, 08:54:27 AM
Bitcoin is facing more problems than most of people even can imagine, the most important ones that are effecting the protocol now are the Block size limit and the difficulty retarget algorithm.

We all know that Bitcoin is facing a big problem with full blocks and a very long queue of transactions even with included fee (a free transaction is a long dead concept in Bitcoin) waiting to be included in the next blocks, The cluster fuck that they call a debate that was caused by this, made a small technical problem a big issue, two camps fighting over what should be done while Bitcoin network is struggling and losing users and potential adopters and most importantly its legitimacy!

but here is how this situation can get even worst! soon (sometime in July) we will have another Halving which will bring the reward from 25 to 12.5 BTC, with a competitive mining, miners are mining at small profit margins, a declining price of bitcoin and a halving reward means that miners will be mining at loss which will result in shunting down many Data centers and cause another cluster fuck, difficulty will stay the same while the hashrate will experience a significant fall, blocks will take a long time to be mined which will result in a bigger transactions  queue (maybe one that we didn't experience yet)and constant full blocks for weeks maybe even if users will panic months.

This is all came at a the worst time possible, there are many other and better alternatives, adopters are asking: Why wait for a dying horse when you can ride a rocket ? the scripting features in Bitcoin are primitive and allow for very simple things, Like Nick Szabo said "Bitcoin is a pocket calculator, Ethereum is a general purpose computer", this is why Ethereum is booming now.

While The Bitcoin cult is still lost in delusion, smart people are looking and switching to better alternatives that beats the Bitcoin tech, Bitcoin has only a couple of months to get its shit together, but even then, it lost the battle in my opinion.

7  Bitcoin / Electrum / Troubles compiling Electrum for Windows on: December 15, 2015, 01:13:44 PM
I am having troubles compiling Electrum fork for windows, the wine build script finish building and generate binaries that does nothing when clicked on !!! While building I see allot of "fixme:msvcrt" which I don't know how to interpret, I tried changing the msvcm/msvcp90.dll to native then builtin without any luck.

I also tried the electrum-winbuild which also fails, I tried building natively on windows but pyinstaller 2.1 can't find the dlls (whic btw exists), pyinstaller 3.0 solve that but it can't find the PyQt hooks !!

BTW: it works great on Linux.
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum not updating Blockchain headers on: November 30, 2015, 01:03:28 PM
I forked Electrum 2.3 for Creditbit, everything seems to be working, I can send receive transactions, but the Electrum client will show transactions as unverified, however I can spend them after they get confirmed, the client show pending for unconfirmed incoming transactions than they switch to unverified once they are confirmed.

After investigating I found out that blockchain_headers are not updating, when I delete the blockchain_headers it gets downloaded from self.headers_url provided in the lib/blockchain.py, and that solve the problem for the previous transactions, but the blockchain_headers don't update from that point forward !! and I have to repeat this every time !!

any suggestions on how to solve this ?
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / [bounty] Get copay and insight to stably work [/bounty] on: November 17, 2015, 12:54:55 PM
As mentioned in the title, I was trying to get Copay and insight to work stably for creditbit , I could make bitcore to work with Hybrid POS/POWand implemented that in  insight but I am having a couple of problems. The first one is where all incoming transactions value is 0 and when you click on them you get transaction not found error. The second is when one instance goes to 100% and insight become unresponsive.

I know that copay and insight were implemented for many altcoins, and I know that there are many guides out there, but I want to do this the "right" way, so if you are interested ping me and tell me how can we work together on this and how can we settle the value of the work.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Insight become unresponsive after few minutes/hours on: November 11, 2015, 02:10:55 PM
I forked Insight for another coin and got it to sync properly, but I am having stability issues, the problem appears few minutes after starting the server, one instance(CPU core) goes to 100% and as a result insight become unresponsive, the only way to solve it is to kill it.

I am wondering if anyone of you has experienced the same issues with insight and how did you solve it ?

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Need Source code of Android wallet for X11 coins on: November 07, 2015, 01:21:11 PM
As the title says, I came across Hashengineering Github and the guy did an amazing work with importing the hashing algorithms to Java and make all the process hassle free, Kudos to him... but I can't seem to find a clean code for X11 Hybrid POW/POS coins, I know that this has been done a thousands of times and I know that there are tens of services offering building wallets, but I want to do this my self.

I would appreciate if you point me to the right direction.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I can't compile Mac OS x wallet for the life of me on: November 05, 2015, 06:30:49 PM
I have been struggling with compiling Mac OS X wallet for creditbit for hours now, I solved all issues except this one:

I keep on getting Boost warnings then the build fails, I tried installing dependencies through port and failed then I tried brew and failed, then I tried compiling boost my self (multiple versions 1_55_0 to 1_59_0) and failed.

I can't find any detailed Tutorial like the windows one , BTW kudos to that guy.

any Idea on what could be wrong here ?

14  Bitcoin / Project Development / Coin mixing script on: September 26, 2015, 04:24:33 PM
I am wondering if there is any open source mixing script (Php, Python..) with MySQL logging option (so I can easily analyze Mysql data locally if anything goes wrong) ?

I am not particularly looking for anonymity, I am interested in just mixing the coins in my local wallet many times randomly so it make tracking them to the original wallet harder than normal.

Update:

OK, so I found a complete project that should be working, it was going to be offered as a mixing service, but before launching the founders were forced to abandon the project because of legal issues, the core dev did opensource and publish the hole code, however only the code is available with no instructions on how to deploy it, I contacted the dev on twitter and he told me he is not going to offer support nor have time for such thing now.

You can find the repository on Github, the project is based on Laravel PHP Framework. so I guess figuring out a way to make it work wont be really hard,  I have never deployed or used any Larvel application my self, so can anyone of you with some experience with give us an idea how can we do it ?

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ethereum opensource Stratum/Pool server on: September 03, 2015, 12:20:08 PM
Any one of you knows of an opensource Stratum server for Ethereum that is compatible with MPOS or even if it has its own frontend , I know that MPOS would support Ethereum, because there are some pools that already did that, Like supernova or coinmine

I don't even mind if it is not MPOS, because there are few pools out there using the same source-code, so there has to be some opensource code out there, like weipool, Alphapool and nanopool..

Any help would be really appreciated.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / MPOS for Etheruem on: September 02, 2015, 07:44:58 PM
Hi,
Ethereum seems to be doing well, and I think it has some real potential, I am curious about how much work is needed to make MPOS Ethereum compatible...

I saw a few MPOS pools out there with ethereum support, I would like to know if there is any open source code out there for Ethereum pool mining, if not, how much work is needed to make a MPOS fork for ethereum?

MPOS pools with Ethereum support:
https://eth.suprnova.cc/index.php
https://www2.coinmine.pl/eth/

I just don't get why there is no open source for this out there already !
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Insight: Can't connect to coind to get live updates from the p2p network. on: August 11, 2015, 05:26:04 PM
I am struggling with this for a couple of hours now:
Quote
Can't connect to coind to get live updates from the p2p network. (Tried connecting to bitcoind at 127.0.0.1:5837 and failed.)

in the log I see
Code:
{ '0': 'connecting to 127.0.0.1:5837' } after a while { '0': 'disconnected from peer 127.0.0.1:5837' }.

I can telnet 127.0.0.1 5837 and 0.0.0.0 5837
Code:
telnet 127.0.0.1 5837
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to 127.0.0.1.

I double checked the magic again, and it is d9e6e7e5 exactly like in the source code https://github.com/Leocoin-project/LEOcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L3023

18  Economy / Speculation / Something really fishy about the media couverage on: January 27, 2015, 05:35:36 PM
All this positive cover in the media is really fishy to me, suddenly we've got the whole media industry sheering for Bitcoin when 2 years ago ( around the first bubble in 2013) most economists were telling everyone that Bitcoin is bubble and it wouldn't work and whatnot, late 2013 when the price skyrocketed the institutional investors started investing in Bitcoin startups and even bought Bitcoin in some cases, and now they are pumping their investment and telling the world how cool is Bitcoin !!!

Most of the investors/media will tell you that Bitcoin is the biggest and most important invention after internet and it is the best financial invention in the last 500 years which is kind of insulting to all other important invention.... a deep look at the whole scene gives me the feeling that most of these pumpers don't give a single fuck about the real potential technology, nor most of users here do.

The most sane people I encountered in this community were developers, if I am to thank anyone, I would start thanking them, they are one of the rare objective people here around, and I think it has to do with their knowledge of Bitcoin's code and how unprepared it is to the masses, many and the challenges will be facing Bitcoin the next couple of years... so brace your self and watch how things develop.

20  Economy / Scam Accusations / Johny1976 is a Scam Artist, Dont buy any of his code. on: January 11, 2015, 10:52:52 PM
The guy ripped me off 16 BTC when he was the only one aware of my site at the time (summer 2014), he emptied the hot wallet using his intentional insecure code, I didn't want to flame hip up until I noticed that so many users where hacked the same way I was, and when they go complain in his "self moderated" thread he deletes every post and leaves only positive feed back.

Today he push a new Update by e-mail and clearly asks people to give him the link to their sites... why the fuck anyone would do that ?

beware, the guy is a scam artist.
