1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Mt.Gox to US bank - avr time on: April 10, 2013, 10:05:23 AM
Follow up to question below.

What is the  fastest method to move USD from Mt.Gov to a US Bank?
Is Dwolla the best.

How long does it take from:  MtGox to  Dwolla (2 hrs?)
Then from Dwolla to you/your bank (??)

Thanks!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How profitable is lightcoin mining compared to BTC for GPU miners? on: April 07, 2013, 05:39:36 AM
I see a lot of people talking about it and have read more than a dozen posts.  People talk of setup and lower hash rates etc....

For the same cards:  say 7970 /  5990 / 6990 --- what kind of earnings could you bring in compared to BTC?

There are many btc calc (of varying worth) out there - but i haven't found one for lightcoin, or a hash rate list for cards either.

Please help inform someone worried about the coming hash glut with BTC.
3  Economy / Currency exchange / Liberty Reserve Funding - any trusted sources? on: March 17, 2013, 09:37:00 PM
http://www.libertyreserve.com/en/exchangers

Many of these are in nigeria, and other known scammer countries (sorry if you live there and are honest Smiley

Can people chime in on the reliability of making payments to these companies from US bank wire (only option) to fund a liberty reserve acctg.

Frankly - especially with my now distrustful attitude they all look REALLY sketchy to me.

sorry i couldn't easily format the list  - but it is available w/o logging into lib reserve above.

Please tell me if you have used them, got your funding (y/n), and how long it took approx from us bank.

THANKS!!!
4  Economy / Service Discussion / btcrow.com - a legit escrow service? on: March 17, 2013, 08:48:33 PM
Looks like Australian (thats good I guess.)

Looks like its operated by a member of the board for 2 years, and the site has been up about that long.

Does it get good ratings from users?

Any fraud accusations?
(No offense to BTCrow - just asking the board's opinion, after losing money elsewhere, figured it cant hurt to ask.

A bunch of good responses would be good advertisement for you - so hope you don't mind.

Would appreciate any opinions.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Warning to newbies - the mentioned Scammer tag is not applied on: March 16, 2013, 03:19:45 AM
Just a heads up, even when people contact admins etc - provide evidence, ask what else to provide, multiple complaints are made... scammer tags are not added.

maybe a few have been added over the years, but not quickly, and not likely fast enough to help you if you are dealing with someone that has only been on the board a short while.

Want an example read this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153217.0

So far the attitude I've gotten from mods is tough luck, so what, I don't care type stuff.

Just warning you not to rely on this, despite it being a sticky for all newbies to read.

This is after the discussion on yahoo messenger from someone calling themselves Jean Gupta...

Money Pak for BTC deal. Initially I wanted 250 first, she/he convinced me to do $500.
Then that became a problem.

Eventually sent me a message from another yahoo account bragging about scamming me.

I have a btc address that they sent me a few cents as a test from.

I have pages of yahoo account logs.

Yahoo IDs:
clarity12@ymail.com
scrapphil

Mobile Number:
513-546-2713

Claimed name was:
Jean Terri Gupta
Kentucky
513-546-2713

Got texts from that number.
7  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB 36 BTC (or so) for cash / thru escrow with a trusted member on: March 14, 2013, 03:34:34 PM
MUST AGREE TO ESCROW THRU trusted member that does escrow here (you send them the btc)
or a reputable online BTC escrow service.

I can transfer cash today from a US Bank - NOT from Lib.Resereve or anything else requiring many steps thru Nigerian processors.

Let me know if there are any honest BTC sellers out there.

DO NOT CONTACT if you won't do escrow. No exceptions, sorry.

-thanks.  Just had WAY too many PM's and other offers from people saying they have a good rep, don't need escrow.
I don't care about your rep - or look at it like this - i'm too new to evaluate your rep, maybe that makes you feel better.

Not willing to pay more than the avr rate, or at most the minimum ask at camp bx / mt gox.
I'll finally be set up there soon - at no risk, so why pay for extra risk.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Cheapest fastest USD to BTC? (yes asked before, but some new reasons) on: March 14, 2013, 03:51:33 AM
For now bitinstant is no longer doing any transfers to BTC (ver 7 vs 8 mess i guess) says at least a week.

I will write up a post tomorrow detailing my struggle and what I have found with the various services.  No good answers - trying local now.

I'll list out the delays and hurdles for each.

but if anyone has a great idea of a place i can quickly say bring cash to my bank, enter my bank info and walk away with BTC  (w/o going thru shady country intermediaries), I would greatly appreciate it.

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Best online wallet on: March 14, 2013, 03:37:55 AM
Just interested in people's opinions on the best online wallet.

Sure i want security - but don't want a 20 digit password they generate meaning I have to carry it around.

Got my android wet - so that isn't a solution yet Smiley

having all coins in a pc wallet (the default one from  Bitcoin - using qt software)
(Pic of the one i mean: http://gyazo.com/e8efc0aa7f70d0995327fd49f49b621e.png?1363232197

PC only wallet scares me - hardrives crash, and as I've read lately unless you backed up recently, it seems you have lost coin?
Lose your laptop completely, and it is all gone!!

Thus the online (non scam) wallet.

Any suggestions?
