2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Blockchain development meetups (London) on: November 18, 2017, 08:34:27 PM
Hey guys,

First off, sorry if this is the wrong spot (mods please move if necessary)

I was wondering if anyone knew of any meet ups where developers could work together to teach & learn blockchain tech within London?

There are a lot of meet ups surrounding the topic but thus far I haven't found any purely focused on learning to develop on the blockchain applications.

I'm currently trying to learn Solidity and it would be great to meet with like minded people to discuss ideas, learn and practice our skills with.

If anyone knows anywhere that hosts a similar event please let me know!

Thanks Smiley

4  Economy / Collectibles / Interest check - Yet another physical crypto-coin on: November 08, 2017, 04:44:38 PM
Hey guys, first off sorry if this is the wrong place, wasn't sure where was best for this..

So as the title suggests myself and some friends are looking to jump on the physical coin bandwagon.

There are a lot of coins in the market so we wanted to make something unique - and we have a few ideas for that.

What I wanted to see is if anyone had any ideas for designs they'd like to see and any features either on or not on coins that they like or dislike.

The plan is to make the coins as affordable as possible but also have a premium look and feel (should you want to take them out the case)

Any advice from previous coin makers would be really appreciated, I have a lot of hope for this project and it would be great to have something special to share with the Blockchain community !

7  Economy / Collectibles / WTS / Interest Check => 2013 Bitcoin Miner authentic custom Zippo on: March 22, 2015, 06:17:27 PM
I have a Zippo lighter which I bought in late 2013. These are a run of approximately 12 (However I feel the actual number may be slightly higher)

I was due to be part of a series of Bitcoin related Zippos but unfortunately I don't think they gained traction.

They have been featured in the Bitcoin museum and as stated before hand are rather rare given the very low production count!
https://www.thebitcoinmuseum.com/index.php/misc/optimator-1.html

I purchased one via this thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=317309.20

Look deep and you'll see me posting about buying one and finally when it had arrived.

Mine is unused, it still has the child safety sticker on the back, it's never been fuelled or lit and I would consider it pristine condition. The artwork is very crisp and it's a solid piece.

No set price as it's very hard to gauge what this would be worth so I leave this open to offers. Please post here / PM me what you would be happy to pay.

Postage within the UK will be free - for international it will vary

Currently I do not have any photos but if you would like to see it I can take a couple.

Below are a few photos I took from the museum

Thanks

13  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Best mining start up on: December 11, 2013, 06:34:49 PM
I was texting a friend about BTC today and he suggested getting into the mining game.

He's a little new to BTC and I've been around since the start of the year or there abouts

Obviously GPU mining has long since died and theres no sense investing in that.

The USB miners if I could have got them at 5 3 weeks ago I would stock up a ton and hash till my hair fell out, unfortunately their price has rocketed due to whatever reason, mainly speculators wasting money no doubt..

So as far as I can tell that leaves us two options;

Custom or pre built

We are both web developers so we understand technology though we are not grease monkeys and we have no idea how to build a rig.

Based upon this info what would the suggested route be, either purchase bulk chips (BFL or better) and build our own rig, I hope there is a tutorial somewhere as I think we'd be in a little bit of trouble if there isn't

The other route would of cause be to buy pre built which would cost a lot more but be literally plugin and play

We have enough money between us to get started, probably 100 GHS as a starting point and more if possible

Based upon personal experience, what are peoples views when it comes to BTC mining, I understand it is still a very lucrative market which a lot of potential to make and lose money so we don't want to end up with something we cant use / is worth a fraction of price paid

P.S if anyone is selling chips in the UK please let me know as we might be interested based on the outcome of this thread

14  Economy / Services / PHP Web Dev for hire on: November 17, 2013, 08:54:03 PM
I work as a PHP web developer full time, but during my weekends and after work assuming I am not doing anything. I want to start making Bitcoin related websites

These will be both for a bit of extra income and so I can start building a strong portfolio

I often use Wordpress as it is the most user friendly CMS I have used it is also quick to setup and more flexible than a Russian gymnast

My prices I think are very fair and include revisions within reason;

Standard Wordpress setup from $150

This includes installation and minor design changes to a free or premium theme [must be purchased by you]

It also includes 2 plugins installed and configured (Contact forms, social bars etc)

Complex Wordpress setup from $300

A theme will be fully customized by myself to fit your needs (within fair reason) a design may be required based upon your requirements

Up to 5 plugins installed and configured, includes minor changes to the features of the plugin if required

Bitcoin store from $500

A fully custom Bitcoin accepting website built on the WooCommerce eCommerce platform for Wordpress

A customized Wordpress theme based upon user given theme

Bespoke jobs

I don't just do Wordpress dev (though it does make for a quicker turn around and all round nicer site) if you need anything bespoke just let me know and we can discuss a quote

Please note : any required purchases plugins, themes etc will be completely covered by yourself, I will request you send me the files before I can start

I work fulltime this is a side project I work fast and I am responsive but please understand you will not have my full undivided attention, I will do what I can when I can

Depending on the job, a deposit will be required before I start work

All payments in Bitcoin, if you have any questions about the service please let me know.

Example work @ my portfolio site lkwtsn.com

I also run the site in my signature, it features a casino built by myself

15  Economy / Securities / Things looking bright for crowd funding sites? on: October 23, 2013, 08:25:11 PM
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-sec-release-long-awaited-105956761.html

So it might not be definitive but surely is a bright light at the end of the tunnel and makes BitFunder and BTC-TC look very bad for all the FUD they caused, not to mention the money they've lost many individuals

*Of cause this doesn't mean that the problems with crypto crowd funding sites is over but I do think they massively over reacted

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / done on: September 02, 2013, 12:04:57 PM
Hi I have a free Bitcoin directory script which I have built and is near completion.

Because I am a noob and cannot use APIs I am looking for a little help

I would like to implement the BitPay payment system (not too important which payment system makes the cut, however) but if anyone could help me to implement at least 1 payment system it would be really appreciated!

The full source can be found here http://ge.tt/25diTsq?c

You will need to fill in the information in lib/config with server and sql database info as well as importing the sql file to your database

Let me know if you need any help with the setup but it should be rather simple. All I need is a IPN so I know if a listing has been paid for

Thanks in advance

19  Other / Beginners & Help / How to accept Bitcoin document on: August 14, 2013, 11:59:52 AM
Is there in existence a free document for businesses looking to accept Bitcoin in their store?

I live in quite an old town (Winchester) where there are a lot of wealthy businesses and market stalls who would likely be interested to accept the currency. I don't have the time to go around to each business and try to explain how everything works.

So is there a prewritten document that I could hand out to business owners when I talk to them, that would outline how and why they should look into accepting the currency?

20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin directory script - free download on: July 25, 2013, 09:42:57 AM
View it here : http://cdkey-hut.com/directory/

Github repo : https://github.com/Lukewatson12/bitcoin-directory

If you don't have github download as a ZIP - instructions are the same

The script is rather easy to setup and will allow you to handle taking Bitcoin payments in exchange for listings on your site's directory.

Setup

Your first step is to download the script

Secondly extract the script and open the 'Files' folder, in here is the body for the script.

Navigate to the config.php file which can be found under lib/config.php

You will need to setup all of the Constants found here, it is important you fill them all out and use correct information as they are used all over the site!

Now you'll need to upload the script to your web server. If you have any errors please post them on this forum post for me to take a look at.

Finally run the SQL script that came with the ZIP file (bitcoinDirectory.sql)

Your site should be ready to run!
