1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi is NOT one man--Proof in plain sight on: March 07, 2014, 05:56:39 AM
Well,

    It's simple really. Everyone talks of the ever-changing writing style he had... Which makes sense, if he was part of a p2p/cryptography GROUP that worked on experimental e-payment systems. Plus, just read the bitcoin white paper.

https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

Quote
12. Conclusion
We have proposed a system for electronic transactions without relying on trust.  We started with
the usual  framework of coins made from digital  signatures,  which provides strong control  of
ownership,  but  is  incomplete  without  a way to  prevent  double-spending.   To solve  this,  we
proposed a peer-to-peer network using proof-of-work to record a public history of transactions
that  quickly becomes  computationally  impractical  for  an attacker  to  change  if  honest  nodes
control a majority of CPU power.  The network is robust in its unstructured simplicity.  Nodes
work all at once with little coordination.  They do not need to be identified, since messages are
not routed to any particular place and only need to be delivered on a best effort basis.  Nodes can
leave  and  rejoin  the  network  at  will,  accepting  the  proof-of-work  chain  as  proof  of  what
happened while they were gone.  They vote with their CPU power, expressing their acceptance of
valid blocks by working on extending them and rejecting invalid blocks by refusing to work on
them.  Any needed rules and incentives can be enforced with this consensus mechanism.

Last time I checked, whenever I do something I do not use to pronoun "we". When I take my garbage out, or finish an excel spreadsheet, I don't go to someone and say "we did it"....I say "I"...

Thoughts?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 1 LTC REWARD:Method to restart reaper periodically on: January 20, 2014, 10:45:29 PM
Hey,

   Reaper always crashes and stops mining every hour or two. I need a batch file,script,tool, or some method to restart the instance of reaper for me every hour without me having to screw with it. Post your method and an LTC address. I will go down the list and try a method until one works. That person will get the Litecoin tomorrow after the methods been proven to work. Then please confirm you get your coin.

Thanks for your time Smiley
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Anyone else refuse a BFL shipment? on: October 17, 2013, 06:06:31 PM
Well....

     After they stopped responding to the BBB regarding my refund request, and contacting the AG of their state and mine... They had the audacity to ship one of my Minirigs anyways. I just sent it right back.

Has anyone done the same? Accepting shipment would nullify any chance of a legal claim to a refund, as far as I've been informed.

Was it a hard decision for you, and how are you feeling about it?

BTW, making us agree to a "2 months or more" delay in April, is an "indefinite delay"...  Cool
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus02-business-guide-mail-and-telephone-order-merchandise-rule

What a First Delay Option Notice Must Say

In seeking your customerís consent to delay, the first delay notice you provide to the customer (the "delay option" notice) must include:

    a definite revised shipment date or, if unknown, a statement that you are unable to provide a revised shipment date;
    a statement that, if the customer chooses not to wait, the customer can cancel the order and obtain a full and prompt refund; and
    some means for the customer to choose to cancel at your expense (e.g., by providing a postage prepaid reply card or toll-free telephone number).
    the following information when you cannot provide a revised shipping date:
        the reason for the delay, and
        a statement that, if the customer agrees to the indefinite delay, the customer may cancel the order any time until you ship the merchandise.

...

When You Must Cancel an Order

You must cancel an order and provide a prompt refund when:

    the customer exercises any option to cancel before you ship the merchandise;
    the customer does not respond to your first notice of a definite revised shipment date of 30 days or less and you have not shipped the merchandise or received the customerís consent to a further delay by the definite revised shipment date;
    the customer does not respond to your notice of a definite revised shipment date of more than 30 days (or your notice that you are unable to provide a definite revised shipment date) and you have not shipped the merchandise within 30 days of the original shipment date;
    the customer consents to a definite delay and you have not shipped or obtained the customerís consent to any additional delay by the shipment time the customer consented to;
    you have not shipped or provided the required delay or renewed option notices on time; or
    you determine that you will never be able to ship the merchandise.

...

Why You Should Comply with the Rule

Merchants who violate the Rule can be sued by the FTC for injunctive relief, monetary civil penalties of up to $16,000 per violation (any time during the five years preceding the filing of the complaint), and consumer redress (any time during the three years preceding the filing of the complaint). When the mails are involved, the Postal Service also has authority to take action for problems such as non-delivery. State law enforcement agencies can take action for violating state consumer protection laws.

Apart from this, your failure to ship on time, or your failure to notify your customers promptly about delays and to obtain their consent to the delays, or your failure to make full and prompt refunds when your customers do not consent to delayed shipment, can adversely affect your business by discouraging repeat purchases. Accordingly, most businesses regard compliance with the Rule as simply good business practice.

4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Bitfury ASIC + BTC.Guild = Fail? on: September 09, 2013, 12:04:35 AM
Numbers looked off, but let my 425GH/s Bitfury beauty hash away on BTC-Guild for last few days...

Pool acknowledges hashrate of 425GH/s, +/- some variance...However, 24-hour earnings have hovered around no more than 1.64BTC.

425GH/s, at this difficulty...should make more than 1.64BTC a day. Their luck hasn't been terrible either...

Anyone having same issue?

EDIT: I'm not saying 1.64 BTC a day is terrible , just does not seem like where it should be to me, and if there is an issue I want to address it now.

5  Bitcoin / Hardware / BFL MiniRig Line:Concerned on: August 23, 2013, 03:47:12 PM
Also Posted in Pre-Sales at BFL Forum

MiniRig Line:Concerned
Via Jody's blog, we can conclude the minirig line made ZERO progress from roughly August 15th until today. It seems ONE 500 GH/s unit has been completed since then (as seen on Jody's Update yesterday). If only one 500 GH/s unit has been completed since the 15th, which is 8 days...How, at ONE 500 GH/s unit EVERY 8 DAYS, will BFL ever complete the backlog?

If BFL is purposely slowing the Minirig line, to force big-money investors to switch their investment to the Monarch line, this would be very troubling.

I welcome BFL to clarify why this line, which so much money has been dumped into by customers, is moving so slowly...Neglect, lack of coordination, or fraud?

Also, since I have 1.5 TH/s to my order...Can I assume, at one 500GH/s rig every 8 days, my order will take 24 DAYS to build and fulfill?

Thanks for your time

PS: I'm not an angry troll, I've invested in the Minirig line and I'm extremely concerned at the lack of progress. And seemingly no effort to correct it..

Are no other MiniRig purchasers as concerned as I am?
6  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Mining Revenue/Difficulty Estimate on: July 10, 2013, 04:38:10 PM
BitFury is promising delivery by August 31st, BFL will probably deliver my March 2013 preorder by October...

If I do an estimation of mining revenue using 150million difficulty (Difficulty isn't even 30mil) , would those projections give me a decent indication of 4 month profitability? I assumed using 150million difficulty would be a worst case scenario thing, like if difficulty was 80mil when I got it and shot up to something crazy like 200mil+ from everyone shipping miners and chips.

What are your opinions, do you think this is a fair estimate of 3-4 month revenue if the value of BTC/USD stays the same?

8  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS]BFL MiniRig 500GH/s(BTC/USD-Payment on Delivery) on: June 21, 2013, 06:15:12 PM
Hello,

   I bought 1.5TH/s from BFL in March of this year http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/ag116/EvilLizardApparel/bitcointalk_zpsaa693d6f.png . I've chosen to have the 3 units hosted at one of their affiliate data centers. I am looking to sell one.

How this could work

-I call you when I receive notice that they are being released to the data center in Kansas city.

-You fly out to confirm I am in possession of said units, and that they are operating as they should. You pick a unit.

-We both sign a contract, and you proceed with payment.

-Once the payment clears, one 500GH/s unit is yours. Hosting for atleast 30 days will have already been paid for. This way, as soon as you pay, your unit will be hashing for you. What you do after that 30 days is up to you, but I recommend to continue having it hosted there. This way if your unit breaks, BFL can fix/replace it and put it back in your rack.

If you can't fly to Kansas city to see it, I could video chat with you from the data center. This would take longer, though, as I imagine we would have to figure something out with notaries and such to both sign the contract and not be in the same place. Not sure how it would work, to be honest, but I could look into it.

This is an auction of sorts, to line up buyers. I will call the highest bidder to confirm. I will get the numbers of the second and third highest bidders, encase anyone backs out last minute. Of course, no money is required to exchange hands until the unit is confirmed to be in the data center and to your liking.

I also have almost 400 chip credits. So if you would want those, just let me know.

Let the offers begin...
